Hi I have been searching the net and unable to find an anwer to this.

What is a good weight for kittens and how often should they gain weight?

My two are

Xena 12 weeks old 1.4 kilos
Zeus 10 weeks old 1.2 kilos

The boy (Zeus) has not gained any weight for 2 weeks.
I have a neighbour who is over 90. I don't particularly like this woman and that is based on how she treated her just deceased 15 plus year old dog. When the dog was about 6 or 7 her next door neighbour ran over the dog and broke it's leg. Instead of taking the dog to the vets the leg was left to heal on it's own.
I have heard several excuses and stories regarding this dog and it's injury. One was that the driver took the dog to the vets and came back with the story the vet could NOT fix it! Anyway, the elderly lady took the dog to the vet, eventually, for another reason, so this story goes... and the vet recommended he amputate the deformed leg which was completely healed in a very strange way and hindering his mobility. She was horrified and told the vet that amputation would be too cruel.
Cruel... I'll tell you what was cruel. The dog's quality of life went down hill to the point where he could not walk beyond a shuffle. He got fatter and more immobile. He then developed heart problems and arthritis. Before he died 36 hours ago he was blind, deaf, cripple and quite senile. She, like many owners, was selfish in keeping this poor little dog with her, in pain, crying, howling and barking whenever she was out shopping etc and in recent times when she was actually at home. I have lived at this address for 7 months now and after a couple of months I was of the opinion that the little old dog should be put to. I could not even look at the dear little dog because of his deformity and the agony he was in.
Just an hour ago I learned that the old lady is going to get another dog, most likely a fox terrier breed. The person who told me copped the brunt of my anger when I actually said a few choice things, quite loudly, hoping the old neighbour would hear. I made a point of saying 'she is too old to have another dog, for one thing!' I am totally against this woman ever having anything more than the cockatiel she owns, but what can I do?

Anyone have any similar stories about people and their pets? OR people who should NOT have pets?
