Asian House Gecko (Hemidactylus frenatus)

These geckos have taken over my house and are starting to get into appliances. When I first saw them I thought ... cute. Second - alright he's got a friend. However they've grown to almost 20!!

I've since read on forums that although they kill insects and bugs in your house. They have killed off native gecko species in the Brisbane area as well have exploded in numbers recently. There have been many cases of them getting into and causing the breakdown of computers, air cons, fridges and microwaves.

I'm all for nature, peace and love but not at the expense of aussie geckos AND appliances I can't afford to replace. Besides that these little buggers DUPLICATE like crazy, poo on everything and make so many loud "chuck, chuck, chuck" noises...

I've found a pile of eggs already in the bottom of my monitor..

I miss the old house geckos.. they were cute and stayed out of your way.. lol. I don't know if anyone else has this problem but I thought I would try eblah and see if anyone can help.. Oh, I tried insect spray and bombed our house over the holidays to only find their skin tone had changed to a shade darker.. lol.

PLEASE HELP!!!

I am thinking of having plastic surgery in Thailand. Tummy liposuction and tuck. Also reduction of my neck. Do you know of any one that has had plastic surgery in Thailand? Was the operation successful. Have you heard any warnings? Do you know of excellent hospitals and doctors that don'yt cost an arm & a leg?

Attitude Fitness Program

I’ve been running this in another forum for about 18 months now and it’s had some remarkable results.

The theory is simple: work at attitude fitness in the same way that you’d work at physical fitness – ie regular exercise. And you’ll find that the results of good attitude fitness will include, but aren’t limited to, a more positive outlook; greater self confidence; improved physical health; yada, yada, yada.

All you have to do is make regular lists of things which you appreciate and/or are grateful for. You don’t have to win the lottery (although that would be nice ), just make a conscious effort to enjoy the small stuff and acknowledge them in this thread. It could be something as simple as how good that first sip of coffee tasted.

By making the effort to list these things in this thread, you’ll find that you become more conscious of the good things that happen each day and you’ll find that it gets easier and easier to make your list. You’ll also find that the cr*p things don’t matter so much.

Try to aim for a list of five.

Soooo...here’s my list for today....
1. It was relatively cool when I first got up so that first coffee really did taste brilliant.
2. Boof the Wonderdog isn’t a fussy eater so I’ve been feeding him somewhat elderly leftovers from the fridge. I really appreciate the fridge being less cluttered; I save money on dog food; and I feel far less guilty than I would if I had to throw stuff out.
3. No bills in the letterbox – YES!!!!!!!!!
4. I’ve managed to get a lot done this morning.
5. The only good hairdresser in town had an appointment time for me this afternoon. Usually you have to book weeks in advance and, for various reasons, I’m long overdue for a visit. I’m particularly pleased that I can get it done today because last night I was asked to support one of my neighbours at a tenancy tribunal hearing tomorrow and attend a surprise birthday dinner on Friday: both these events will go a lot better if I look better so I couldn’t believe my luck in getting an appointment this arvo.

Babysitter or day care?

What do you think is better? Have a babysitter or your child go to a day care? I have a babysitter but I start to worry about the education that my children receive. Older child, about 7 years, already goes to school starting this month, but the smaller, 3 years and a half, sitting all day with the babysitter. I think that I take my child to day care even if it will be very hard for him. However, I do not know what to choose: babysitter or day care? Please help me!

What is the ideal relationship between parents and children? This relationship should be more severe, parents imposing their terms automatically, or should it be a friendship? In the latter case, if the child benefit from parents' indulgence and do something stupid? I know that the situation varies from case to case, but I speak in general. My husband and I get ready to be parents again, we want to adopt for the first time, and therefore we want more opinions. So, what do you think?
