Seven has secured the rights to this new hit US show. Supposedly, it has kicked the competition in it's timeslot and is now honoured with crime shows such as CSI, Law and Order, and Numbers.

I'm taking a guess here but I assume Seven will bring it here by June maybe.

I've heard good things about this show.

The show has done quite well against "Lost" in the US. That may give Seven the idea of giving the Thursday 8:30 slot to "Criminal Minds" when "Lost" finishes its season.

This is all so confusing, lol. If Criminal Minds takes the place of Lost where will 24 and Alias go?

"24" could either return to its traditional Monday night or replace "Prison Break" since they are similar shows. As for "Alias" I doubt it will get a pre 10:30 slot as it is in its last season and has rated poorly in the US.

Yeah, I agree with you about Alias, but I still love it.

I don't want to have to wait till after Prison Break to see 24 though lol.  :B

Channel 7 should replace Air Crash Investigations with 24. ACI is doing very poorly right now and there would be nice flow between PB and 24. Heck, they do the PB and 24 double in the US.

Yeah I completely agree with you. But I'd rather 24 take the premiere 8:30 pm timeslot and Prison Break follow. I like 24 more.

As do I but unfortunately 24 doesn't rate high enough to justify an 8:30 timeslot. Perhaps it is too American for Australian viewers or the fact that you cannot miss an episode of the show otherwise you would be completely lost with the plot. IMO it is a brilliant show and the fifth season is definitely no exception (ive watched the first 15 episodes so far) but I think Channel 7 will give it a 9:30 timeslot.

Well, 24 rated around 1.3 million last year on Seven, due to extensive overadvertising, which i'm not complaining about btw :P , and Prison Break is only rating 1.27 million atm over here in Australia so I don't see why Seven can't give it an 8:30 timeslot.

Then again, I wouldn't complain if it was at 9:30 either, as long as Seven hurry up and bring it over here. I need my 24! And while they are at it, they should bring back Alias too.

And Criminal Minds is hopefully coming soon as well :P

Just saw an advert on Channel 7 for Criminal Minds starting July!

I love that show :D

CRIMINAL MINDS revolves around an elite team of FBI profilers who analyze the country's most twisted criminal minds, anticipating their next moves before they strike again. Special Agent Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin) is the FBI's top behavioral analyst and he joins the Behavioral Analysis Unit lead by Special Agent Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson), a family man who is able to gain people's trust and unlock their secrets. Also on the team are Elle Greenaway (Lola Glaudini), an agent with a background in sexual offenses; Special Agent Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore), an expert on obsessional crimes; Special Agent Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), a classically misunderstood genius whose social IQ is as low as his intellectual IQ is high; and Jennifer "JJ" Jareau, (AJ Cook), a confident young agent who acts as the unit liaison for the team. Each member brings his or her own area of expertise to the table as they pinpoint predators' motivations and identify their emotional triggers in the attempt to stop them.

This should be a solid performer for Seven. It’s a show that can have a versatile timeslot and Seven hasn't got too many procedural dramas.

He's my main reason for giving this show a go too.  I just hope it doesn't have too many bad things happening to children though.   Over the last five years I've really noticed an increase in violence or implied threats against kids in these cop/investigative shows that really turns my stomach.

Seven will have a premiere special of Criminal Minds at 8.30pm on Sunday 6 August 2006 with double episode special.

(Somehow, Seven likes to play "double episode" special thing. They did the same for Prison Break.)

What's replacing Lost then! Oh well, as long as the show's good. It looks awesome though.

The whole Logan conspiracy in the latest season of 24 was modelled on real-life situations involving former US President Richard Nixon. The outcome was very similar with a recording being released to the Department of Defense. Senator John McCain actually said 24 is a very realistic portrayal of how terrorism is dealt with in real-life. It probably slightly differs here in Australia though.

Well I haven't yet watched any of this yet (Criminal Minds) but I've taped the double episode premiere that aired tonight.

But I have to admit one prejudice before I even start, and that's that every time I see Mandy Patinkin on screen, even in stuff like ER,... "My name Is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!" runs through my head! I know its so utterly corny but I'm dead serious, it literally does.. so it's kinda killed any real appreciation I could have of his peformances before I even watch them... silly I know!  :B

Are we able to get past this?  Did anybody watch?  I haven't watched the two episodes yet, will I be able to watch tonight's before or should I watch in order?

I was not surprised.

Criminal Minds is from CBS Broadcasting Inc. same as CSI, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY.

Sunday night's Criminal Minds premiere clashed with Nine's CSI. That was CBS show vs CBS show.

I'd seen last nights before (seen the first four eps) but I loved it. I love almost anything with Mandy Patinkin in it though. Princess Bride is a fav of course, but also his last series, Dead Like Me which was he was awsome in. (and I loved him in elmo in grouchland, but lets pretend I didnt say that).

did anyone else get a promo dvd in the mail? I checked my mail earlier today and there was one in there. It has the first ep on it (same as last night up until the servo scene) and then it has a promo for celebrity survivor, yet another new detective doco thing called "the force" about real life CSI like people, and a "what is code black" message. Pity it arrived AFTER the first ep aired, but nice of them to give me it anyways!
Posted by: Rossatron, August 7, 2006, 3:39pm; Reply: 42
Yeah I got the promo dvd but haven't watched it yet. So it has the entire first ep?

If it's like all the other crime shows (csi etc) I will give it a go as I love all the others.

I'll probably tape tonights as the second Cold Case is a rpt.

CBS seems to have all the best shows no wonder they are winning so convincingly in the states.

yes. I fwded through it when I checked it out, but it had the opening credits and what I remember happening in the middle and the final scene at the end, so I am assuming.  :)

It was only the first hour of what was on last night though. We saw two eps last night.

Mandy had worked with AJ Cook on the series, Dead like Me... watching this program is like, looking into an actor's graveyard.  There are so many people from other really well-known series.

AJ Cook.. tru calling & dead like me
Mandy... dead like me & Chicago Hope
Lola Glaudini ... Sopranos(it wasn't until the third episode that I remembered where I had seen her)
Shemar Moore ... the brilliant, Birds of Prey
Thomas Gibson... Dharma & Greg

I am liking the quirky computer genius/technician character... she seemed to pack a well-balanced lunch
Posted by: SuziH, August 8, 2006, 8:48pm; Reply: 45
Loved all three eps so far! Remember the old 'profiler' type shows? This is the real deal. Criminal profiling absolutely fascinates me. The guy who was Greg, in Dharma and Greg, sounded a bit aussie to me. I felt a couple of the actors were a bit flat but expect they will improve. Gideon (Mandy Patinkin) has come out of a hiatus (medical leave) which leads us to imagining he has been damaged by something he is still recovering from. Suppose that's why his character wasn't doing any song and dances! We also have that line from the 'Princess Bride' as a running joke everytime we mention Mandy! I loved him in both the Princess Bride and Chicago Hope. Haven't seen him in much else. I am enjoying this show and it's subject content.  :)

I agree Morgan... my first thought watching this episode was "this is stand by me!"... and yeah it was immediately obvious who the killer was... Didn't like this episode so much as I've enjoyed the others so far, just because it was so predictable  :( I hope they go back to their usual originality (...haven't watched this week's ep yet to find out :))

Tonight's Criminal Minds (Riding the Lightning, season 1 episode 14)

Gideon, Hotchner and their team interview husband-and-wife serial killers awaiting execution on death row. As the interviews progress, Gideon begins to suspect that the wife may be innocent of the crimes committed. Racing against the clock, the team sets out to prove she was one of her husband's victims, rather than his partner in crime, before it is too late.

Criminal Minds airs at 9.40 tonight, after Grey's Anatomy on Channel Seven. From this week, there will be two Criminal Minds: Monday 9.40 and Wednesday at 8.30pm.

What a gut wrenching fantastic episode! I understood what the 'mother' meant. It was a noble selfless act she did to save her son, Riley. What a nasty piece of work Jacob was. Excellent acting, excellent show. I cried buckets of tears.

Monday night's episode was so great. A mother gave up her own life, and Gideon agreed to let the case unsolved.

Tonight on Criminal Minds at 8.30, Unfinished Business (episode 15)

A serial killer resurfaces after 20 years of silence and contacts the Behavioural Analysis Unit with the promise that he will kill another victim in the next five days. As the team springs into action, Gideon enlists the help of a former colleague who worked the case when it was fresh to help find the killer.

I kept thinking that they had done their research & found Western Australia's own husband-and-wife serial killers

If you can afford them without doubt.

One of the very best current US shows IMO.

And tonight we have another serial killer! woohoo!

Tomorrow night Criminal Minds will be aired at a new time, 8.40pm (the time used to be Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy).

The Tribe
Gideon, Hotchner and their team examine the circumstances surrounding the mass murder of five college students killed in an empty house. It appears that a pack of killers who are part of a dangerous cult may be responsible for the student deaths. The team interview the residents of a nearby Indian reservation, as well as citizens of the surrounding community, in an attempt to track down the killers. Meanwhile, Hotchner's handsome younger brother pays him a surprise visit at the Behavioural Analysis Unit headquarters.

Criminal Minds is followed by series premiere of Standoff tomorrow.

Enjoyed Standoff after it. Pretty full on with the action.

Just on the topic of star news Lola Glaudini who plays Special Agent Elle Green(a)way has left the show. I won't give any spoilers as to how she leaves as I know most of you aren't up to speed as yet.

This show has not disappointed me in any of my expectations. Acting is great and each ep is quite different. I like how they don't focus on just one of the regular characters each week. One ep it was Gideon (the electrocution one) and one ep this week it was Hotchner. Looks like next Monday's is about Spencer Reid. Excellent stuff.

I agree Suzi, I like how they do that too :)

This week it looks like poor young Spencer finally gets some action!! :D :K) LOL

Probably the first time too ;)

Spencer is a cool character, kind of like a younger Grissom with his knowledge.

After that brilliant episode with the mother father serial killers, why are they just resting on their laurels?

Last night was bordering on d grade television

As if a highly trained FBI agent wouldn't have noticed that he was shot at by a female on a motorcycle?

Yeh Spencer is abit like Grissom but I think the writers on CSI do a much better job in portraying Grissom as the "know it all" guy in a more suttle manor or maybe its the actors but I just think sometimes Spencer over does it with the history lessons whenever the team is at a crime scene.
Posted by: Ised, November 16, 2006, 8:38pm; Reply: 98
Aww I thought that episode was cute with Spencer finally getting a little lovin' ;)  He's cute in an extremely nerdy way, but he could evolve and get a little "cooler" maybe, in last night's they did his hair a bit trendier at least...

I didn't really like last night's episode though... as if the women would've all of a sudden worked it out minutes before the professionals did and then they let them off??? Yeah right... ::)
Posted by: SuziH, November 17, 2006, 8:16am; Reply: 99
I agree the ending was silly and hard to believe! It was like... we only have 4 minutes to go, lets wrap this up NOW! Totally unbelievable but then... hey... it's Mexico! The story was good up until the point where the women killed the rapist/murderer.

Just watched episode 13 of Series Two. It has been on hiatus for a couple of months. This episode with Keith Carradine in it is absolutely the BEST episode IMHO, so far.  :o ??) :X
It focusses a lot on Gideon but is so very well done that the show is over before you know it and has you thinking about the events that took place. It's one of those episodes that stays with you. I LOVE CRIMINAL MINDS!

'Ride the lightning' made me cry buckets at the end and was a heart wrenching episode. The one I refer to above is very cleverly edited and presented. The story is horrifying and had me sitting staring at the TV absolutely with my mouth agape! As good as 'Ride the Lightning' but in a different way. ;)

Actor Mandy Patinkin has quit TV drama Criminal Minds after failing to show up for a script read-through. Patinkin reportedly chose not to show up for the meeting after realising his case-cracking character, Jason Gideon, was being written out of the show. However, TV bosses aren't sure why the 54-year-old is leaving Criminal Minds because he hasn't contacted them, although they have dismissed speculation his exit is linked to friction over alleged salary issues last summer. Writing on website CriminalMindsFanatic.blogspot.com, producer Ed Bernero says, "Patinkin told the show, the studios and the network he was returning right up to the day before we started shooting the first episode and then simply did not show up. He also has not contacted anyone within the show to explain why he isn't returning."

Her character is more realistic then abby but i prefer abby by miles. Not a fan of the computer chick in this show. Reed on the other hand is maybe my favorite character, humble but knows almost as much as Grissom!

Excellent season premiere  and we got to see Elle in a bikini :P

Pity Mandy Patinkin has quit ,not sure how the show will go without him. Also he may become a risky proposition for future employers if  they think he will quit after one or two years.

really?  I think she's going to suck... there I said it!

I don't think she has the range of emotions or the ability to withhold the empathy the way that Mandy can when a certain scene needs it... sometimes less is more

How creepy was the school principal?  I think they got the idea from one we had over here in the West... he made worldwide headlines by sitting in a locked office, at school, during the day, accessing some ridiculous amount of child pornography web sites & chat rooms from his school supplied laptop using his school account with a government paid for ISP... from memory it was somewhere like 4000 different pages accessed in some minuscule amount of time.

His defense was," learning what to look out for..."

Almost as good as Pete Townshend's excuse when he was caught doing similar things ... " research for a book he was thinking about writing "

Rumors sprang up that Harvey Keitel was close to signing on to the show. That speculation was short-lived--Entertainment Weekly's online branch reports that Keitel's demands over creative control and perks crumbled negotiations.

It didn't take the show long to move on to its next candidate, as Criminal Minds has finally found its lead. The show's executive producer, Ed Bernero, announced on fan site Criminal Minds Fanatic late Friday that Joe Mantegna will be joining the cast. However, those looking for details on Mantegna's role will have to do their own investigating, as Bernero's succinct statement gave no clues.

"We are very excited to tell you all that Joe Mantegna is officially joining the cast of Criminal Minds," Bernero told the Web site. "Thanks for hanging with us, everyone."

In addition to a Tony-Award winning stint on Broadway, the busy Mantegna has been all over film and TV the last few decades, with appearances in The Godfather: Part III, USA's The Starter Wife, and Joan of Arcadia. Mantegna has also hidden behind the disguises of a few high-profile roles, including providing the voice of Fat Tony in The Simpsons and donning a moustache on Saturday Night Live as Bill Swerski, Chicago Bears superfan.

In full agreement regarding the mental status of Elle & not liking her as much at the moment ... that was ridiculous what she did to ruin the case when the guy was sitting outside the house waiting to sneak inside

I'm so glad Geena Davis didn't land the lead role.  I said it before, it needs someone who can underplay the role.  Someone that you know, even when they're sitting there doing nothing, that their mind is about to slam shut on the crucial clue.

Wednesday 8.30 would be ok, but 8.30 Sunday would have been a whole lot better - seeing as seven currently have nothing in that timeslot except movies.

This show and Bones are two of the very best TV series' in the past decade IMHO. Cutting edge, great mix of people, the whole dynamic works. So clever, the show does not treat us like idiots. Can't they just leave the program times alone. Reading the Torchwood thread proves that messing with the program times screws up people and they forget to either record or watch the show. :(

Question

Why is the BIG boss (female) after the unit.  I like the show but really isn't this a bit unreal considering the US seems to rely on these type of units a lot now.

I would watch it even/despite of this sub-plot they seem so keen to introduce
Posted by: sav0001, November 28, 2007, 10:25pm; Reply: 143
They had to have something big and dramatic for the finale to make viewers want to come back next season, so that's why the woman was after the unit and she wasn't specifically after the unit , she was after detective hotch.
Posted by: SuziH, November 29, 2007, 11:50am; Reply: 144
The sub-plot doesn't really have an affect after the first or second episode of the latest series. I like the actress playing that hard nosed part as head of the department. She was in the last '24' as the President's right hand woman and wife of Bill Buchanan. Excellent actress IMHO. I am so much enjoying the new series of Criminal Minds. This show is beyond anything else in the same genre.

Then Wednesday is a double repeat of CM because of The State of Origin. The following week will see Criminal Minds at 9.30 Monday in all states and new episodes 8.30 Wednesday in all States. Its an awesome show so im not complaining, I just hope they dont beat it to death like channel nine has with Ramsay.

Next wednesday's Criminal Minds is a double episode! The second of which is a repeat with the old Mandy Patinkin in it.

I saw that episode last night. It wasn't too bad. Frankie did well. They tend to leave a few holes in their storylines, I've noticed.

I am enjoying this show; it's great to see Thomas Gibson is such a different role to his Greg (from Dharma & Greg). I can't ever get the vision of Mandi Patinkin as Inigo Montoya out of my head though! "My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father. Prepare to die!"

That weedy looking guy (Spencer I think?) is annoying. I don't like his character at all. Honestly, he looks like he's been beaten up by the school bully everytime you see him. Makes you want to beat him up somemore!

Exactly! :D
What a great movie The Princess Bride was. So much fun.

I flicked over last night and caught the final few minutes of Criminal Minds and saw dear little 'Malcolm' sitting in a cell surrounded by drawings of his dead lady.  :'( Him and Dawson from Dawson's creek have shown what great actor's they are in this show.

I think you would really like the movie, the Crow... very similar theme

I have seen The Crow and the second one as well. The first one was when Bruce Lee's son shot himself in the head with a blank and died just before the movie was to finish filming?!

A few too many similarities to The Silence of the Lambs in the most recent episode
Posted by: SuziH, July 29, 2008, 1:17pm; Reply: 166
I watched this episode for the second time and it didn’t lose it’s impact. Never even thought it was similar to Silence of the Lambs because real crime/true crime is a hobby/obsession of mine (studying it NOT participating in it!). There are a lot of murderous people out there in the wide world and no doubt only limited by their imagination as to what they can do to people to fulfil their own twisted agenda. Hannibal Lecter has not got the market cornered on torture and killing people. Case in point… the BTK Killer, BTK standing for Bind-Torture-Kill. I see many similarities to real crime on the Law and Order and CSI franchises always with a disclaimer as to NOT being based on a real crime.  :o

I didn't think it was similar to Silence of the Lambs either. Not even close. The guy in Silence was making a female suit out of human skin. How is that similar??  ??)

Great episode though. :D I found it very disturbing.  :o Loving the flirting between Morgan and Garcia. LOL Gorgeous!  ;)

The flirting between Garcia and Morgan is gorgeous! When she was shot and almost died you could see the love they have for each other, family/friend kind of love. Penelope Garcia is a dazzling woman and my favourite woman in the show. Didn’t you just want to slap the Police Detective woman silly? I like the quirkiness in characters. Penelope finds love this series.
Another character I like in a TV series is Abby in NCIS. Unusual, stunning and original ;)

The finale of this season is flabbergasting! I had it on disk and kept going back to the final 2 minute mark and replaying it over at least 6 times to see if I could figure what the hell happened, and to whom! What a cliff hanger OMG :o :X :'(

:) actually was thinking more along the lines of James gumb from the film, with a healthy dose of Francis Dollarhyde from Red Dragon... extremely tall, blond, muscular man that drove a van & James was in to the cross dressing... there were just a few too many similarities for it to be anything other than a homage

Absolutely brilliant scenes in the courtroom when the defence attorney was profiled in the most recent episode about the criminal who lost his mind in an accident & couldn't remember any of his crimes

DO NOT MISS the finale of this last season for anything!! I watched it over and over, especially the last 5 minutes which is a huge cliff hanger. At least you wont be hanging out too long to find out the aftermath of the cliff hanger this time!! :)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

It had better be the pregnant woman, because I will spew forth vitriolic ramblings like you have never seen before if it is my computer technician

The last episode was a ripper and I can't wait to see the conclusion next week.

The second half of the episode was not even close to the first half in the quality of the writing... & the special effects of the " big explosion " were definitely not of the same level as the 4x4 street one.. it was almost as if they had to rush through the second half or it was done by someone else to finish it

So, with the Luke Perry episode we had a slight Dharma & Greg reunion for a moment... with the guy playing one of the important state troopers formerly playing best friend to Gregory

Luke Perry has been popping up a lot of late. Excellent actor IMHO. :)

I'm not a fan of casting big names in roles like this

However I thought he did well..

What was with that voice.  So they seem to be borrowing off movies now (Se7en).  I still think Mandy did a better job as well.

Actress Kirsten Vangsness has been inundated with requests from her Criminal Minds co-stars to help organise her forthcoming wedding, after announcing she's to marry her girlfriend this spring.

The TV star's longtime love Melanie Goldstein, an assistant editor on hit show 24, proposed to Vangsness last November, but the couple only recently broke the news to friends and family.

And Vangsness' actor pals are keen to contribute to the ceremony in any way possible.

She tells People.com, "Everybody squealed and got very excited.

"Paget (Brewster) sent me her form that proves she can officiate a wedding, and Shamar (Moore) asks me a lot of wedding questions that I don't even have answers to yet, like 'What are you going to wear?' and 'What's it going to be like?'"

why why why... another one... seriously this is like three of my favourite TV women in the last six months have come out

"Shamar (Moore)"

'Tis Shemar. ;) Although I'm assuming it isn't your mistake.

I didn't know she was gay. Honestly, I don't care (and am kinda happy Hehehehe! She's a cutie) as long as she and Shemar keep flirting on screen, I'm thrilled.

RETURNS TONIGHT
Do not miss this new series. This series is FULL ON and episode 9 which is actually the 100th episode made is particularly harrowing and gut wrenching. :'( :X

Episode 12 features the youngest member of the team Dr. Spencer Reid and he shines. This young actor has a beautiful spirit in his character. I think this particular episode is up there in the top 10 episodes of 100+ eps.

I love love love this show!  :D

From the looks of the promos, YES. It is breath taking (not in a good way)
DO NOT MISS THIS EPISODE.   ??)
