Thanks for the info. I heard about that show when Britney Spears and Kevin Federline were on it and Ellen gave them a pram with a DVD player installed in it. (strange).

But it should be good. I miss Murder She Wrote though. And even more Jerry Springer. Will that ever come back?

I miss murder she wrote as well but don't like to admit it ;)

But they ran out of episodes, mainly because they started around season 10 or so missing the first nine.

I work, but I tape Ellen's show each day.....and it's very good.  Ellen is intelligent,
funny and relaxed.  The guest stars are A list and seem as though they are really enjoying being there, she has an  easy and very witty  interview style....it  absolutely cr*ps on Rove from a great height. ;)

I don't make a point of making time to watch Ellen BUT when I do watch her show I really enjoy it. Because she has such diverse and interesting things/guests on her show it is interesting. Unlike Oprah who devotes and entire show to ONE thing, even giving Tom Cruise an entire show ??). I have always thought Ellen was a terrific Comediene and enjoyed her show she had before this latest one. I don't even watch Rove anymore. It is sad when a show is past it's use by date and yet the producers just keep hanging in there in the hope it will get it's second wind, which they rarely do.

While i disagree about Rove,i still think he's quite funny, agree with all you said about Ellen. very funny lady, and much more relaxed then the stuffy and stiff Oprah. her guests are more then just the usual tom cruise, jim carey, julia freakin roberts, blah blah blah. her show is like a daytime version of the late show, comedy bits mixed with funny entertaining interviews.

I feel so alone. LMAO I really don't like this show. It irritates me. I don't find her funny and her interviews are terrible.

Jerry Springer..I LOVED that show. So stupid, but it makes you feel amazingly normal. I wish they'd bring him back.

God no! i have no wish to see the scum & dregs of american society polluting our tv screens again..and jerry with his stupid little sermon at the end.

What?! You mean you aren't inspired by Jerry's final thoughts on the subjects? ROFL :P They are a little 'holier than thou' sometimes. I'm not a fan of them myself either.

Considering the riff raff that he has on his show, the idiots in the audience and the low brows who generally watch jerrys 'final thoughts' are kinda like casting pearls before swine...
Strange though because when you see jerry springer interviewed on tv he is a reasonable and intelligent man.

I looked for another thread ... but could not find one

Ellen DeGeneres is embroiled in a battle with an animal rescue agency after she gave away her pet dog. The talk show host and her partner Portia de Rossi handed over custody of her Brussels Griffon mix Iggy to Ellen's hairdresser after it fought with her cats. But the Mutts and Moms agency claims the switch violated an agreement it had with DeGeneres when she agreed to house the pet - and has reclaimed the pooch from the hairdresser and her 11 and 12-year-old daughters. DeGeneres said on her show on Monday, "I guess I signed a piece of paper that says if I can't keep Iggy, it goes back to the rescue organization, which is not someone's home, which is not a family. I thought I did a good thing. I tried to find a loving home for the dog because I couldn't keep it. Because I did it wrong, those people went and took that dog out of their home, and took it away from those kids. I feel totally responsible for it and I'm so sorry. I'm begging them to give that dog back to that family. It's not their fault. It's my fault. I shouldn't have given the dog away. Just please give the dog back to those little girls."

As a canine person, I believe this society is starting to believe it's own self publicity & trying to garner some more... what a ridiculous situation, to remove an animal from a loving & caring environment .. to be so pedantic & place it back in a sterile cage awaiting the rarity of adoption when it's more likely to be euthanized

Some of the people on the TV were mocking Ellen for  her reaction... I am 100% on her side

I completely agree. It's terrible that this happens.

I have to ask though, I didn't see it... was it some sort of special adoption thing? or is this a normal thing for adopting pets in the US? We don't do that here do we?  :-/

I saw her crying on the news today and i do think it was genuine and i really felt sorry for her.
I understand partly the side of the pet adoption ppl as I have shelter pets myself, but i think they've taken their policy too far and it could have been handled better.

In the US many adoption agencies have contracts that adopters have to sign. This is normal and this is good. It is normal practice for a rescue to require the animal be returned to them in the event that the adopter can no longer care for the animal (whether it be because circumstances have changed or because the animal doesn't 'mesh' with the new family).

This is because not everyone is as well intentioned as Ellen. Not everyone is going to find the best home to give the dog up to, people often just dump the dog on whoever will take it, not thinking about the dog's welfare. So the rescues take them back so they can find a good and loving home for them.

It is in their contract and as an intelligent woman, she should have read the whole thing before signing it. She made a stupid mistake.
However, she was just trying to do the right thing by the dog and so shouldn't (of course) be faulted for it. But the rescue did (mostly, minus some bad behaviour) exactly what they would do with anyone else and took back the animal. AND I should also add that this particular dog has now found another loving home and is no longer with the rescue.

The rescue was out of line in it's behaviour though. VERY out of line in the way they treated the people involved and really should have used this opportunity to promote rescue dogs and their own rescue. But they didn't. So stupid them. :(

Anyhoo...in the end it was just a silly error of judgement. I don't agree with Ellen going on TV like that and telling the world, the rescue have had threats because of it. Regardless of their behaviour they don't deserve that.

What the rescue ppl should have done is instead of taking the animal away from some kids who had no idea why their pet had to leave which was really cruel, they should have just assessed this new family to check everything was ok and then let them keep the dog if everything checked out fine. I feel really sorry for those kids.

The animal rescue group at the center of the Ellen DeGeneres dog drama have received death threats after the TV presenter mentioned the incident on her show. The talk show host and her partner Portia de Rossi came under fire by the Mutts and Moms agency after handing over custody of her Brussels Griffon mix Iggy to Ellen's hairdresser after it fought with her cats. The agency claims the switch violated an agreement it had with DeGeneres when she agreed to house the pet - and reclaimed the pooch from the hairdresser and her young daughters. On Tuesday, DeGeneres issued a tearful statement on her show to explain why she gave her pet away - but the plea has sparked anger amongst her viewers, with some sending vicious threats to the agency. Keith A. Fink, a representative for rescue group owner Marina Batkis, says, "She (Batkis) is adamant that she is not going to be bullied around by the Ellen DeGenereses of the world. They are using their power, position and wealth to try to get what it is they want." But DeGeneres' publicist Kelly Bush insists the host was stunned by the threats, and maintains she has the dog's best interests at heart. She says, "It's very upsetting to hear that someone is getting those kind of calls. Ellen just wants the dog reunited with the family."

Ellen DeGeneres has vowed to stop talking about her former adopted dog Iggy, insisting the issue is "out of hand." The talk show host and her partner Portia de Rossi came under fire by the Mutts and Moms agency after handing over custody of the Brussels Griffon mix to DeGeneres' hairdresser after it fought with her cats. The agency claims the switch violated an agreement it had with DeGeneres when she agreed to house the pet - and reclaimed the pooch from the hairdresser and her young daughters. After a tearful statement on her show on Tuesday led to fans sending death threats to the agency, the 49-year-old is now taking a vow of silence. She says, "Let me just say this, it's gotten out of hand. I want nothing, nothing more than that dog returned to that family. But you don't resort to violence. So anybody out there, please stop that. Please don't threaten or do whatever."

What I have seen... I believe her

I like to believe there are other people like myself that become attached to animals & the very notion that cruelty could become them provides fodder for an emotional reaction.  I really think she didn't mean to react the way she did on television, but sometimes you simply cannot help becoming overemotional.  It was much more a genuine reaction then you see on most reality programs  & I hope this whole issue is resolved peacefully

I've seen "faked emotion" far more than I care to and hers was genuine indeed.

Newlywed Ellen DeGeneres celebrated her seven-month anniversary on Monday by interviewing her wife, Portia De Rossi, on her U.S. daytime talk show.

The actress was invited on the show to talk about her new TV comedy Better Off Ted and both stars decided to chat on their anniversary.

Introducing her guest, DeGeneres said, "Our first guest is the star of the new ABC show Better Off Ted; she also happens to be my wife. Please welcome the lovely Portia De Rossi."

The host then asked her wife, "How's married life for you... Are you enjoying being married to me?"

A giggling De Rossi responded, "Yes, I am."

DeGeneres then flashed up a photo from the couple's wedding day, prompting a gushing De Rossi to coo, "That was the happiest day of my life, it really was."

The actress went on to describe her partner as the perfect wife, adding, "People always ask me if there's anything that she does that's annoying around the house, like if she leaves wet towels on the floor, if she's messy, and I gotta tell you she is considerate and kind and wonderful and neat."

DeGeneres responded, "I would say the same thing; not the neat part... You're not as neat."

The candid chat continued and De Rossi confessed that becoming the partner of someone "so famous" took a lot of adjusting to.

She added, "We were in Rome... and I was dying to show her this beautiful piazza and we were walking around but we got swamped by paparazzi."

The couple also addressed rumours suggesting De Rossi is pregnant. The actress joked, "I probably should have told you before the tabloids told you."

De Rossi 'Apologises' For Marrying DeGeneres
23 March 2009 9:05 AM, PDT

Actress Portia De Rossi has "apologised" for marrying comedienne Ellen DeGeneres in a video spoof taking aim at supporters of the same-sex marriage ban in California.

The openly gay couple wed in August, taking advantage of the May Supreme Court ruling which legalised same-sex unions in the state.

Their rights were revoked just months later after the passing of the Proposition 8 bill, which reversed the previous ruling permitting the unions.

DeGeneres used her U.S. talk show Ellen as a forum to publicise her devastation over the issue, and now de Rossi is voicing her own discontent in a public service announcement (P.S.A.) "Paid for by married gay people who are sorry and The National Coalition of Bonobo Chimps".

She says, "I was just very sad and very surprised at the time. Ellen has her own talk show, and she was able to tell people how she felt about it and I've never been able to talk about it from my perspective, so I shot a P.S.A. that talks about how I feel about it."

Issuing her "apology", de Rossi adds: "When I got married, all I was thinking about was my own joy at committing to love my partner for the rest of my life. I didn't think about all the people I was hurting by getting married. That was selfish. So I want to apologise to all those people whose lives have been affected by me getting married."

The older Ellen gets the more attractive she becomes, IMHO, and she has the most stunning blue eyes. :)
I even found myself dancing like her the other evening (yes alone and to some music off the TV) :-/ ::)
