Tonights South Park, a Tom Cruise-Scientology ridiculing episode called Trapped in the Closet,; is proving itself to be somewhat of a PR logistics problem for Viacom:
According to a source who has read a draft of the script, it begins with Stan leaving a psychiatrists office only to be hailed as a savior by the leaders of a strange, Scientology-esque cult because of his off-the-chart results on an E-meter-like personality test; A group of Hollywood A-listers quickly gather outside Stan house, were told, with Tom Cruise somehow ending up stuck in a closet leading a news crew stationed at the scene to report that Cruises fans fervently want the actor to just come out.


Comedy Centrals parent company, Viacom which also owns Paramount might not be too keen either about seeing its studios big-money Mission Impossible 3 star ridiculed yet again just when America had seemingly moved on from its obsession with his sexuality and Scientology ties.
Asked about the South Park episode, Robinson said, We have no knowledge of it, so we dont have any opinion about it at all. Paramount spokeswoman Nancy Kirkpatrick also declined to comment, saying, I don't know anything about it. I cant make that judgement.

After bristling at what might have initially seemed like a conflict between a valued cable property and the studios biggest movie star, Viacom financial executives took another look at the War of the Worlds numbers, and realized that there was a direct relationship between Cruises eccentric public behavior and box office receipts. They concluded the South Park episode was instead a valuable opportunity for branding synergy, and commissioned six more episodes on the topic of Cruise and his outrageous, Rip Taylor-esque follies for the coming season.

I have read through the transcript which reference Tom Cruise and for fans of South Park this episode is going to be even funnier than usual.

When they were trying to figure out if Tom has a leg to stand on if he decides to sue, the answer they came up with was no. They actually researched whether his 'antics' had a direct effect on the Box Office earnings of War of the Worlds and actually came up with 'Yes, they did'. I for one refused to go to the Cinema to see the movie because he jumped around and was such a wanker but the thing that ticked me off so completely was when he was so damned condescending to our Peter Overton on 60 minutes when he interviewed (I use the term loosely) Tom.

I can't wait for something to really annoy him. . . something serious. . and then we will see how he copes. . I don't think the South Park episode will be it though. :-/

He's got a new publicity manager type person now, so I think he'll be fine. It wasn't until he hired that weirdo sister of his that he went off his nut and acted like a jerk. His new manager should be able to handle this in a professional and mature manner - you'd hope. Personally I'd like to see Cruise go off his nut so we all have more reason to hate him and boycot his movies!

I loved the South Park episode with Paris Hilton, that was so funny! She was like "oh Tinkerbell, we are going to live a long and happy life together" then Tinkerbell grabbed a gun out of her bag and shot herself in the head, hahahahaha! :P :D

I've seen the South Park EP with Tom Cruise. I was ROFL for ages. I wish I can tell you more but I don't want to spoil it for you. If you want to know it is Ep 12 on the new series. SBS has showed EP 2 last night (the one with the Hippies) So we have anoth 10 weeks to go.
