Hi,

The Amazing Race 8 premieres in the USA September 27.

The only thing Amazing on Seven for the time being with be The Mole - The Amazing Game. You should see series 8 of The Amazing Race nearer the end of The Mole, maybe sooner if theres a spare vacancy.

Bugger - I like it too! There are so few programs I like on TV anymore ....

Cheers

Yup, another Amazing Race fan here too.

I was reading on another board that TAR8 won't be screened here until early February (approx 5 months after starting in the US and 2 months after the winning team is known).  However, the person posting that info didn't give their source.

SevenSpy, your post is a lot more heartening than that news.  is there anything else you can add?

Yours hopefully...  :)

this new family amazing race should be good. but im not decided on whether it will be better than the normal format but i spose it will create more conflict as .. well you know .. families fight - i know ive had a few good fights with my little bros over the years ...

Channel 7 recently announced that they won't be showing Amazing Race Season 8 this year because they felt that showing two seasons already this year was enough, which is total rubbish of course - you can never have enough Amazing Race.
Now just wait for some twit to look up the Race's progress on the web and spoil it for everybody >:(

Typical seven they have to be a party pooper,I could watch it seven days a week.I guess i will have to enjoy series three on fox 8 and keep watching my previous series i have taped.I hope we get it next year.Does anyone know of the Australian release date for series one dvd set?I know it's released in the states at the end of September but i don't know how far behind our release date is?

Wasn't sure where to put this ,i figured this was as good a place as any.I just received my austar book and found out that they are showing series four on fox eight on the 16th of Oct at nine pm.I'm rapt that is the only series i'm missing. If i have put this in the wrong spot apologies in advance.

You are all so right. I'll be able to get series 8 on DVD before it screens here.

The only shows I watch at the moment are the CSI's, and the quirkiest show on TV, Mythbusters. What a great concept. Roll on series 5 (the final season!) of Queer As Folk. Never thought as a straight guy I'd be watching a show like that. Now I'm addicted.

I can.

I enjoyed parts of the first series but the following series were bascially the same but in a different location and same personalities but different faces ...much the same as survivor.  The first are usually interesting but the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th etc are all too predictible and boring.
Posted by: vexatious, September 21, 2005, 11:11pm; Reply: 11
I would say we are almost certain to not get season 8 at all because of The Mole.
Remember back to that nightmare "Survivor" Aussie style, Network Nine produced? (still seeing therapist over that one *shudder*)

Channel 7 are hoping to make we fans of TAR shift our loyalties to The Mole.  ::)

It's not going to work i'm very loyal to the race, and the mole isn't the same without grant.Maybe they could show eight in the non ratings period,at least we would still get to see it. :-/

No, The Mole just isn't the same without Grant, is it. Ah well.

And I quite enjoyed Australian Survivor.  It lacked the production values of the US series, but the way the game itself was played was good, and ferocious at times.

Bring Back The Amazing Race!!! *Starts a Petition*  :K)  I love this show and have seen EVERY episode.  I don't like this new The Mole.  I prefer Grant as the host.

Charmed I'm sure. I have hated Tom on the Mole since day one when he made all the stuff ups live. Grant was much better. Bring back Grant.

The Mole is fast building to a climax, so maybe we might have time for an Amazing Race series before ratings finish for the year. Here's hoping. I could watch that show constantly, continuously etc etc.

lol i think we have - it rates just as well as TAR did and its production values are very very high. I think seven could get away with making its own verion of TAR and have it look like the real deal.

I've had to restrain myself on what I read about The Amazing Race.. for the usual fear of finding out something I dont want to know. A while ago I was so desperate to look at TAR website that I did... and as the page was loading I saw 'CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS OF AMAZING RACE 6 - FREDDY & KENDRA!'... and that was about 4-5 episodes to go until the final aired here. D'oh!

I am such a fan of TAR. I'd count it as one of my all-time favourite shows, which is why I get PISSED OFF by the airing schedule and not being able to look at the websites.

From what little I have allowed myself to read about TAR8 Family Edition has been that it didn't work quite as well as they hoped. Apparently it is not worldwide, but restricted to basically the American Landmass (dunno what else to call it).. ie, throughout United States, also Canada and up to Alaska and down to south America too, which is sensible I guess. But apparently when you dealt with teams of four it was a lot more dfficult, especially when some of those members were younger kids. I don't know what the age requirement was, 14 year old? Anyway they said it was an interesting experiment and they did have fun but they wont try that format again.

Hey I'd be happy for *any* amazing race. If I still had Foxtel I'd probably be watching the repeats.
Posted by: BSquared, December 28, 2005, 6:50am; Reply: 28
Friends of mine in the US say that the family season was a big yawn...a big part of the appeal of the show is the exotic locations, watching the people deal with language propblems, seeing the tasks which are usually based on local customs etc.  Apparently doing the whole thing in the US and Canada made it very boring because you missed all of that.

Sadly I know who won the season already so not sure I'll be watching next season too much.

I have seen it as well, and even though it wasn't as good as the usual format i will still tape it so i can keep my collection complete.I was happy with the winners because they were my team right from the start. They are going to air series 9 in February in the u.s.

the following was in the West Australian newspaper on November 24

our very own Rottnest & Fremantle starred in the American TV series The Amazing Race yesterday are with camera crews & contestants dashing around like, well, Americans on a television show.
whispers reached the paper that some non-schoolie visitors landed on the isle early yesterday & businesses were roped in to smooth the way for the crew & competitors.
clearly the Rottnest Island Authority was ordered not to prattle to pesky media about the exciting event & issued a stern " no comment " to the paper -- a surefire confirmation of the rumour.
the seven network, which screens the popular series, was left out of the loop & had no idea WA was a destination for the show, which follows teams as they chase clues in a race around the world.
luckily for us, a team off backpack toting Americans running around, shouting at each other & being chased by cameras on a small island is a little hard to hide.
Word has it that the contestants began arriving at 3 a.m. with instructions to go to the top of the main lighthouse for their next clue.
there was a flurry of activity at the bicycle rental shop -- where employees also had been silenced -- & lots of running around Rotto streets, said onlookers.
the Rottnest Tearooms were charged with leading the hungry visitors lunch, serving up cookies, drinks & meat & salad rolls.
" it was pretty exciting," a tearoom spy said. " one of them ran around the back & asked to our head chef where the Fremantle Prison was."
being shrewd, the paper figured this must be the next destination & called the prison for the lowdown. It too had been gagged, but Monday's public notices seemed to confirm the story -- a small item declared the prison would be closed on Wednesday for filming.

Can't wait for tonight I love the amazing race. Although it can be annoying how they seem to pick contestants that fit into the programs set roles ie the gay couple, the couple who fight all the time and the sweet couple. Doesn't stop me watching though ;)

Counting down :)  I kind of wish they would change the stereo typical contestants though...they still have the old couple and the annoying, arrogant gay guys etc...time to change some of the relationship dynamics...how about Father in law and daughter in law or grandad and grand daughter  ;D

Still, looks like it will be good fun again this season.  :D

Talk about stereo typical... am I the only one disappointed?

The abusive husband

The incompetent, yet belligerent grandparents*

The trash talking African-Americans

The extremely loud blonde women

The cute Barbie dolls

The college fraternity tool boxes

The flamboyant, yet pissy homosexuals

The nerds

There is no one I can like!

Maybe you could download it?

so much for being less than 48 hours behind America.  In America it was a two hour premiere

It was one of those "to be continued" episodes anyway, so you didn't miss anything. I lost track of who was first and who was last, and I was watching it!

The funniest thing was the old couple running across the bridge looking for the clue box and nearly standing in front of it, saying I wonder where the hell it is! LOL

Perth / Rottnest is a good location, as they would be able to get the ferry across, and I can't remember how often they run.

I'm not complaining about the Barbies! A few weird couples though - particularly the guy ones. There could be up to 6 gays I reckon! GO BARBIES!

& you get to see the obnoxious Americans in the group treated with disrespect and lose their composure in a foreign country

Good to see a couple of weirdos go last night.

The old couple are living on borrowed time also. Glad the Barbies are still in. Danielle & Dani? Seems to be more "gay" couples this time than ever I reckon. One down...

Was that the 2 friends who came 2nd last? All they did was scream all the time. Most annoying. And they always looked at the camera when they were doing it, so it was obviously some sort of novelty for them. They had better get serious pretty quickly becasue they will be gone next otherwise.

I haven't got a real favourite yet. Naturally I'll go for the girls, but I don't think they are going to last from what I've seen. This week they appear to be hooking up with a couple of guys, so maybe they will get some assistance - not that the boys will be looking for anything in return........................

Wasn't it great though? WOOHOO - the woohoo ladies are goooone! At least that annoyance is gone - they couldn't say one thing without woohoo being on the end. Pity that enthusiasm didn't translate to being able to drive a manual car. The VW beetle is no different to any other manual, so I don't know what their problem was.

Sickening one liner from the Eric & Jeremy team about the Barbie girls Dani & Danielle "we just want to make the girls feel good so we can get into their pants later". Now  that's a fine thing to say on tv in front of millions of viewers. Got to remember they are yanks I suppose. Maybe I'm just jealous... Sucked in they finished 2nd anyway when they could have been first. Karma?

I don't really have a favourite yet, I'm just enjoying the contest. The Hippies are doing well. The oldies surprised me when they got up the waterfall. I thought it could be the end of them. Then a flat battery, but they still managed to finish ahead of the bimbo sisters. Great work.
Posted by: MorganPym, March 24, 2006, 11:51am; Reply: 64
I am happy with the couple that are thankfully no longer participating, but it was a close toss up between them & the older couple

Enough with the geriatric canoodling ... stop kissing & telling each other how wonderful you are all of the time & just generally behave

You somehow think you can put together a motorcycle, but not have enough faith in yourself to make ethanol from sugarcane?  Instead you decide to climb a wonderfully slippery waterfall.

Complete agreement, the two guys that came second do not think before speaking.

I have no fav, but the hippies may fill that void

My first car was a beetle. I thought it was excellent. People thought they could drag you off too, but I surprised most of them. They are not hard to drive. I bet they never drove a manual before. I think they invented automatics for Yanks...

Bondi Icebergs came to Moscow last night. If Wanda had a fear of deep water, why would she do that challenge (other than to overcome her fear) if it was going to cost them a shot at $1m??

Eric & Jeremy continue to try and crack onto Dani & Danielle, even getting a big taxi to fit them all in - unfortunately for them, a blonde moment meant the girls had top go back to the pit stop to retrieve a bag.

Lake is getting more obnoxious, abusing Michelle. They are married parents - pity the kids.

Fran and Barry did their share of whingeing again last night. When they have a setback they always have really negative comments, that "oh well, this looks like the end for us" and then end up in 4th place or something.

The hippies are still cruising, and I reckon it will come down to them and the good 'ol boys Eric & Jeremy.

Did we miss a season (season 8) when families competed? It looked like it was only done in the US. Maybe they didn't think we'd be interested in watching? Funnily enough, there was a black family, who's surname was Black!
Posted by: MorganPym, March 31, 2006, 12:06pm; Reply: 68
because you must choose which member is going to do the challenge/roadblock before you open the envelope.  She was unaware of what was involved.

Yes, in its infinite wisdom channel 7 decided not to air the family series.  But rather go straight into the new series & keep us a matter of hours behind the episode being screened in the USA.  Then, of course they didn't bother playing the first double episode.  Effectively putting us in one week behind.  Then, the miniseries.

Just understand, we are nothing to the television networks.

This season of The Amazing Race is really good. I only like a few of the people this time who are Barbie and Ken, those 2 guys who keep flirting with those girls, and the black couple. Those 3 are the ones I'd like to see in the finals.

I want the freakin hippies gone, and those old people who look like they are about to faint.

Barbie and Ken - do you mean MoJo? I think that's them. Couldn't be Lake and Michelle - I think they will be disliked.

I have seen some of the road blocks, where they read the challenge, and say "oh that involves such and such, you can do that one or I'll do it", so I'm not so sure about them having to choose before they open the envelope. I'll be watching closely this week.

i should have mentioned that but i only really looked at the photo, didn't want to see any more info on the show because i don't want to spoil it for myself

So what epsidoe are we up to tonight? I have been trying to catch up on the episodes shown on tv and I've now watched part1 of the russian trip.

Posted by: The_Phantom, April 6, 2006, 2:48pm; Reply: 78
Episode 1 was Sao Paulo,
Ep 2 Brazil
Ep 3 Moscow
Ep 4 Munich, Germany
Ep 5 Segesta, Italy

After the Russia leg, they get their next clue in Red Square, as the leg isn't over, which sounds like where you are up to.

This week they travel to Munich. Looks like some scary driving on a test track. Should be good to see who is eliminated this week.

yep the red square scene where they get the next clue is what I watched last night, so I up to date then! good stuff i'll enjoy tonights episode with everything fresh in my mind

Glad to see Wanda & Desiree go? Next week you'll probably be upset at who goes, and so will some of the contestants, but that's life. Hope the oldies go soon. They whinge too much. The Hippoes and Eric & Jeremy just have too much energy and they keep on winning. They are not giving anyone else much of a chance. It's going to take some real bad luck for those guys to lose. Notice that they just get on with it and don't fight or anything. Some of the other teams could take a few tips. Hello Lake..

Bad luck guys, The Double D's, Dani & Danielle are gone. Unfortunately I knew this was going to happen because I needed to look at something on the CBS website and I saw it, but I still couldn't believe they lost. Ray and Yolanda were damn lucky that the girls were pretty hopeless at putting things together. Even though I knew they lost, I couldn't believe how much start they had on Ray and Yolanda and still lost. Aah Blondes. Gotta love 'em. Another funny moment was when they kept stalling the car!

Could really see the stress starting to surface last night. Even the nerdy couple were getting upset. Only the Hippies and Eric and Jeremy are still cruising. The lead changed so many times last night though. The Oldies continue to muddle through even though whenever they put a clue box on the streeet somewhere they still manage to go past it 3 times saying "I can't see it anywhere around here".

Anyway, at least I don't know who goes next so looking forward to next week. It could be anybody except for the boys and hippies who haven't been out of the top 3 in any episode I don't think. They'll be hard to beat.

Are you seriously telling me that the pit stop in the most recent episode was not the funniest ever?

Philip could not believe the reaction of the winners, especially "digital processing "... he was losing it

Then the second-place unhappy pair elicited a sarcastic comment

hehe, phantom's back...

Anyways, So glad to see Ray and Yolanda make it through and I hope my fav team Ron and Jeremy or "the frat boys" :P can win!

I can't stand those old people, and I hate to say it, but the old man looks like he might just fall asleep and never wake up!

Not to mention Lake and Michelle! What is wrong with those two people? I can't stand them!
Posted by: The_Phantom, April 21, 2006, 4:51pm; Reply: 84
Thanks. I have been on assignment.

The hippies are certainly providing some entertainment. They may be weirdos but they are certainly giving off plenty of energy. What about the matching orange pants!I'd rather they win than the good 'ol boys who think they are God's gift to women. Get a life. The Double D's were just dumb enough to be sucked in by them.

The old people! LOL! They are funny when they can't see stuff that's right in front of them! I wanted to see them carry the bell and have a heart attack and die last night. What about Ray - he carried the bell himself. Good show.

Lake will get his just desserts soon. He hasn't been too obnoxious to Michelle recently, but wait until they start falling behind, then you will see his true colours. nearly had it at the airport when the got a later flight.
Posted by: Kimmy247, April 21, 2006, 7:47pm; Reply: 85
The hippies are sure good entertainment value.  Did anyone notice that they were wearing t-shirts that said Bowling Moms.  Pure Hilarity!!

I certainly dislike Lake and Michelle they were so vindictive to yield the girls last night.  They are making me feel the same annoyance with the series that had John who made the big scene in front of the host.

I'm with you Phantom, what is it with those old guys keep missing the clue box all the time, I don't know how they manage to stay in the game ::) Still, its amusing to watch ;)

I have a sickly feeling that the older couple are being cut some slack during these earlier episodes ... the dancing was nowhere near a suitable rendition, a couple of episodes back

& bandana's look stupid on everyone
Posted by: The_Phantom, April 24, 2006, 12:12pm; Reply: 88
Maybe with the bandanas, they are wishing they were on Survivor. They only look good on the good looking women on Survivor when they use them as a substitute for clothes... Hey, maybe Dani & Danielle could have tried that, and they could have been ccut some slack too. They should have used tricks like that to get people to help them and they would have gone a lot further. look how Rob & Amber always got guides etc. D&D must really have been dumb.

I thought the German dancing was pretty poor too and they still got given the clue. Maybe they were given some slack, but then again they cut heaps of the tape, so maybe there was a lot more we didn't see. I'd like to see an uncut version of the show. Did Eric & Jeremy ever get it on with D&D etc.

If they last another 2 episodes I'll be surprised. (I won't do a nudie run)

I don't think they did anything more than make out with those girls, who both left last episode.

Pity, it was fun watching them take everything so calmly. Everyone else is all rush rush rush and they took everything as it came.
Posted by: The_Phantom, April 24, 2006, 12:37pm; Reply: 90
Yes, to their credit they held it all together and did the best they could - even if that wasn't much.
Posted by: The_Phantom, April 28, 2006, 10:43am; Reply: 91
How about last night's episode. More good stuff. Here were some of the highlights (for me)

- Phil dancing to the band at the pit stop (if you blinked you would have missed it)
- Fran & Barry (the olds) lost in the car somewhere and trotting out the same old doom and gloom lines. I think they ended up 4th.
- What the hell were Lake and Michelle wearing? It was like some sort of strap that he had on with no shirt. Michelle had it on over her shirt and it did awful things to her bosoms - not very flattering - I'm sure Phil would have raised an eyebrow
- Dave & Lori - "may the force be with you" comment before the kayaking polo game, when obviously running last, and "Nerds Rule" at the end when they finished last. At least they don't fight and were in love. Good stuff man.

It's still the "Frat" guys v the Hippies, MoJo hanging in there with some tears last night when frustrated that they couldn't offload their swordfish, Ray and Yolanda just scraping in again. Lake had more rude comments for Michelle when things weren't going their (his) way. Whe they were in the car Michelle knew where they had to go from the map, but he insisted on stopping to ask someone, "over ruling" her. Then they found the sign pointing to where they had to go, and he though he found it and was fantastic. As*h*le.    Fran & Barry still muddling through but I think their time will be coming. It's only the stronger teams left apart from them. I think there's some bungee jumping next week - they might have a heart attack....
Posted by: MorganPym, April 28, 2006, 12:33pm; Reply: 92

- the Phil dancing to the music was/is my highlight for every single series so far... I thought I was having some weird hallucination

- is my imagination, or does everyone think Phil has an extreme fondness for the team that came in second?

- the unidentified object strapped around the respective chests of the domestic violence couple would be the battery packs for their microphones
& I am definitely thinking silicone or saline

(rainbow) GO THE HIPPY'S!!! (rainbow)

(dance)

Posted by: The_Phantom, April 30, 2006, 11:07pm; Reply: 94
Yes, didn't think of that Morgan - their microphones.

I think Phil gets some kicks out of the different personalities on the show. You must get attached to some of them as the show goes on. The Hippies are just so far out in their behaviour I'm sure it keeps Phil amused. I love watching his reactions to some of the carry on, good or bad eg hippies or Lake and Michelle. It nust have been hard for him when the Nerds left. I got a bit teary myself...I was so happy for them. Maybe Nerds do rule...

Wonder when they are getting to Australia??

i just wanna hear what they think about australia.

if michelle and blake/lake are still in it... i hope someone tells them to piss off... they're like the classic american stereotype. lol. sorry to any decent americans reading this.. but they are!

since i know! the hippies will still be in it... i hope they come back!! they're such good entertainment!! lmao!

Can anyone come first other than Eric & Jeremyor the Hippies???

Have the hippies stuffed up this time???
Getting tired of Lake's abuse.
Jo of MoJo is a sook
Opps Barry just crashed the car. Nice one. That's why oldies shouldn't be allowed to drive. He didn't see a goddam big tree?? Lucky it wasn't a person.

SUCKED IN! Lake & Michelle are goooone! HAHA!

Lucky the Hippies recovered from going the wrong way.
Funny when one gave Phil a kiss.

Ray & Yolanda made an amazing recovery.

Fran & Barry - it's time to go...
Posted by: MorganPym, May 5, 2006, 1:52pm; Reply: 100

Ray & Yolanda do not seem to be understanding that they are in a race & seem quite happy to meander through the streets of the various cities, window shopping.

I could not believe how uncoordinated Ray was with the javelin

If the frat boys have any more luck, finding the fast-forward so quickly, I will start to ask questions

I was waiting for the sound of the dislocated hips when the old lady tried bungee jumping... enough with them, they entertain me no more... be gone with them & their alleged grey power ... the only reason they found the clue boxes this week it was because that will following other teams.

& finally, even the second hippy managed to score a  kiss

ps from some weird camera angles in the vehicles, Lake like a relation of Phil

Some of us download the episodes as they air in the USA as they are 3-4 weeks ahead in the Amazing race this year.

Series like Smallville, Lost & House we see months before you see them here.

So you haven't missed out on them arriving in Perth. It will be on soon.

It was ALMOST the hippies!!   :'( BUT they did that "however this is one of those... you can stay pit stops" lol. something like that.

I was on the edge of my seat like "Noooooooo. oh, phew!" lol

they had to do this digging task in the middle of the scorchin heat ... the dark haired hipster look liked he was gonna fall ill... not good! poor bugger!!

but yeah, i think its next week they come to aus.. thats how they made it look in the preview anyway.

okay so i watched this show for the first time this season - only coz they were in perth and i wanted to see how my city looked - americans in america are great - take a whole bunch of them out of the only country and they become quite egotistical, pushy and rude (like every sailor that graces our shores).

The 2 guys - not the hippies - are great but one episode of watching "MoJo" was quite enough for me.

Now back to Perth - did you see our pretty Bell Tower - only the hugest waste of tax payers money ever and when they took the ferry to hillary's i was thinking oh thats only an hour and a half in the wrong direction during peak hour.

No offence to all you american people.  :)

Can't wait to watch a big more of aussie land in next weeks episode..

yeah its amazing how much the aussie accent is so noticable...

i actually knew one of the people on the amazing race last night...he was giving the older couple information about how to get to the fremantle jail..

they should have made the contestants go to subiaco oval to meet an eagles or dockers player and make them kick a goal or something like that at road block..

It aint over till its over. Im glad the olds went and not the hippies. The Hippies have entertained us through the series. Love some of their comments like to the Bedouin hitchhikers - you rock my world. Everyone should be that cool. Karma in action i say. Good luck to them. Didnt u see at the airport a couple of weeks back when the hippies turned up and nobody would tell them about the flights. Thats slack and hope it all comes back to bite them in the ar**.

I like Mojo - well maybe just Jo ok. Ill be honest coz thats the way I am! Glad to see the olds gone finally. Never stopped whingeing till the end. "Oh my weve got every red light" (from Perth in the taxi). Good luck to them for making it so far but good riddance. It has always looked like Frat boys Vs hippies at the end but maybe not so sure now, theres been a few mistakes. This is one show I do not miss every week. Looking forward to the finale but ill be down for a few weeks after its finished. :(

ahahaha aww.. i dont care what anyone says I love our australian accent!!  what a turn on! lmao!! but yeah, we do live in one beautiful country. australia looked sooo good!

how cheesy are mojo .. calling bj and tyler sleezy for yielding them YET they cancelled their taxi's??? say wuh? no... bimbo's, sleezy is cancelling taxis... playing the game is yielding. lol how stupid are they to allow that statement to come out of their mouths?

The frat boys just looked soooo wrong in our country! We’re so laid back and they’re sooo… ‘where’s the tanning salon?’.. well, you know what I mean. I’ve gotta say they look like the kind of guys that would just manage to graduate college (heavily relying on  $ paying $ off people of course), grow up to fly flags outside their homes, try to become plastic surgeons and just never leave American soil due to belief there just couldn’t be anything bigger outside of it. Lol.

Other than that… tonight was the first night I actually realised I liked Ray and Yolanda… the didgeridoo thing was soo cute. Mojo were just plain rude… did she not see the man whom out of the three of them actually knew how to play the thing?? It’s like she just didn’t want to make eye contact with him?? What the?? And her high hair isn’t fooling anybody !

But good on the hipsters…!!! Karma baby… karma!!

What u got against MoJo. I thought they were pretty gutsy to get back into it after being yielded, and when they were racing for the mat Jo was so far behind then somehow jumped on the mat b4 the last Hippy. Maybe he should have put his shoes on. BTW it was the Frat boys who cancelled all the taxis, but good old Aussie taxi company stuffed that up and theirs didnt turn up and MoJos did. That's Karma! It was only becoz MoJos taxi was the only one that turned up that the Frat boys told everyone that they were the ones who cancelled the taxis. But it didnt do any good anyway becoz they always catch up somewhere anyway. They should have known that.

Jo's hair up? whats that got to do with anything? I agree they should have thanked the aboriginals too but you never know what you would do when u are way behind in a race with $1m at stake.

Funny how the two times the Hippies lost it has been non elimination. Its like the producers want them to stay or something.

If there is any Karma, the Frat boys should go next. In any case the ending to last nights show was the best and closest ever. A producers dream. Hope theres more of that!

Two points of interest in regards to this subject, taxis...

Jo was very much involved in the telephone trick

& the very next night, the channel 7 news' second story was about the worldwide embarrassment that the lack of taxis had caused for the city

well its true- you spend hours waiting for taxi's here in perth - takes some cranky americans to complain about it before someone notices - still nothing will happen

Yeah how disgusting was that. I was wondering tho, that since one of them appeared to chuck some back up, did he actually eat them all? A technicality perhaps.. Maybe if they'd been chocolate coated they may have tasted better........nah. i don't think ill ever try them, even if there was nothing else!

obviously it was the best result :)

The fraternity brothers, I noticed that one mentioned he is a waiter, were not terribly happy

One final question... were R & Y aware that they were in a race?  They never seemed to hurry anywhere, casually walking from challenge to the vehicles etc allowing precious minutes to go by

n ye, the hipsters winning is such a good result. well deserved! great guys that worked hard at this game.

The frats and mojo so wanted everyone to hate them by telling us all continuously they play dirty... no, we saw everything they did to you guys and it wouldn't have even started if you guys hadn't started it first (childish but true). even when the hippies tried to get tricky it was still decent stuff nothing narky or stupid. (like cancelling taxis. trying to give kisses away for keeping plane information and so on and so on and so on... )

I liked how they all talked about unity and togetherness etc and as soon as they got in the cars after the start, the bickering started.

Not sure if I have a favourite family yet but I think this will be a good series as the teams seem to have to stick together (being family) as opposed to the partner series.

I think that they call them the desperate housewives group (all sisters??) but they didn't get elimintaed (they have to surrender the money and backpacks).

The funniest thing was when the girls figured out it may not be an elimination round and put on all their clothes! Bras, panties etc on the outside of the clothes they were wearing, layer upon layer, cracked me up! The comment Phil made about it being illegal in Panama to wear your underwear on the outside of you pants was funny. The annoying mother of the Paolo family with the even more annoying elder son are like a train wreck that you just can't help watching. Paolo mum did so well Bungee Jumping. I was very proud of her. I didn't like the Mum in the family with the youngest kids comment after the Paolo completed the fast forward task of Bungee Jumping. Those kids are going to swear their heads off before they even reach teenager-hood. :( I record this show usually after Bones, and absolutely love it).

Have I missed something...why do all the teams hate the Florida team, OK their constant praying is off putting but I can't figure out why everyone hates them ::)
Posted by: SuziH, December 9, 2006, 8:32am; Reply: 156
That's the widowed Mum and three kids? The Weavers. When they began the race they were constantly whinging and bi***ing and one of the girls was crying a lot. Mum took things in hand as best she could and while at a roadhouse having a bite to eat (they were sharing the bus with all other contestants at the time) Mum decides to instill encouragement and excitement regarding the race. They come out of the diner dancing about and leaping like ballerinas saying things like 'we're so happy'. When some of the other contestants saw them doing that they decided the family is whacky and not in a good way! Now the family is treated badly because some other competitors feel they are nutty and shouldn't win the Million.
It was sad to watch the losers this week with the little girl, Carissa, trying so very hard NOT to cry when eliminated that it only made it worse. Those kids did so well for their ages. The Dad was sad but he encouraged and commended the rest of the family on being such good competitors. He was almost in tears himself in the car driving away from the red bean fiasco.
This series, number Eight, was aired in the US 12 months ago. I have cheated and looked at who won and the episode recaps already. :D
I still watch it though because that is the fun of it.

Thanks Suzie, that explains it ;)
Yeah I was sad that family lost, they worked well together.
Must say though, even though the New York team treat each other terribly they have really surprised me lately at how well they are doing ;)

You're not the only one!
I came late to reality TV and have no time for BB etc., but Love the Amazing Race & Survivor. My partner bemoans the number of series they are making, 'cos I just end up glued to them!  :D hee hee

I would rather watch TAR than any other 'reality' show. I like the way it unfolds, I enjoy seeing the personalities of 2 to 4 people in close proximity struggling through sometimes huge feats of endurance and courage eg: The Mum with the hubby and sons and the Dad with the 3 daughters. I love the locations and the host is pretty cute. I don't mind survivor but hardly watch it anymore, not like I used to. I will once more be glued to the sofa this evening watching it ;D

I wasn't unhappy with the team that won, but probably would have preferred the Dad & 3 girls, they just seemd a little nicer. But I was happy it wasn't the Weavers. I was sorry for them at first but in the end they just had too big a chip on their shoulder.

Anyone know when the next Season starts? I believe it's already on in the US, so I don't want to go to the website and find out who's eliminated.

BTW- can anyone confirm if this series was shot before New Orleans was flattened or did we see a part of the city that has recovered?
Posted by: Dalton, January 16, 2007, 3:34pm; Reply: 170
Hurricane Katrina occurred in late August 2005 while the first episode of the Family Series aired in late September 2005

Therefore , I would imagine it was filmed before Hurricane Katrina

I started watching towards the end and didn't see the families in New Orleans -- I tend to view the show for the "cringe" factor ( the stereotypical American "tourist" / their ignorance of basic travel requirements such as map-reading )

From the few shows I saw , I found the winners ( well the brothers anyway ) arogant and sexist -- just awful people

I guess "love to hate" , kept me watching   ::)

Oh , did some research for you Aingel and Series 10 finished in the USA in December 2006 -- Series 11 due in May , 2007

The family Series was # 8 , so Australia is well behind

Posted by: Seriously, January 16, 2007, 4:05pm; Reply: 172
^ that is true, but we have already seen S9 (at the begining of 2006), and Seven has confirmed that they are going to be showing S11 at roughly the same time as The US. So I would say S10 will be shown towards the end of the year into Summer, the same way as S8 (family series) was (about a year behind), or they may skip it all together.

I knew the outcome weeks before but still I urged the Branson Family (Wally and daughters) on ALL the way. I so so wanted them to win but at least they won several legs of the race and won some great prizes because of that. Wally did so well. He got fitter and fitter as the days went by. I thought the Linz family were rude and a tad immature but better them to win than the whacky widow and her whinging kids, especially after watching them 'do' the last task where they just gave up looking for the instructions amongst the Olympic stadium seats. I wanted to scream at them. It was the barest of margins that the 1st and second place getters finished. Very exciting.

One guy from another team basically seduced his girlfriend in front of him

:DYeah, that was Adam and Rebecca.  I actually really liked her, she was really funny.  He was a psycho mamma's boy.  The funniest part was in Eithiopia when they had a challenge to carry a roof to a hut, then place a jug on the roof.  She's telling him to hurry up coz he's climbing the ladder like a sissy, and he goes, "Rebecca! Shut up.  I never placed a jug on a roof before!"  Like, I'm sure not many people have, but I bet it's pretty easy.  And every time he did anything scary, he'd go "I love my mom!  Tell my mom I love her!"
I've got Seasons 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 on video so I can relive the hilarious memories. :D :P

it's weird because I feel exactly the opposite... I have no problem with dwarves, yet I hate midgets with a passion.  We should legally be allowed to hunt them for sport

:DThis is so funny, I had a convo with my boyfriend the other night about this exact topic.  We seemed to agree that dwarves aren't freaky because they're just like other people, only squashed small.  (Also, LOTR has done a lot to make them socially acceptable.)
Midgets' however, don't seems to be in proportion.  They always have HUGE arses and weird looking heads. :)

are you sure that you have your definitions around the right way?

Jockeys are midgets... everything is in proportion, just smaller... they suffer a lot from Napoleon complex

---

The editing is atrocious so far... there were some close races to the final checkpoint & they went from the final challenge to the Mat without showing the footrace... especially between the redneck couple & the cousin and dwarf

These days , midgets are defined as proportional dwarves

That you find such people "funny" due to their looks or not "socially acceptable" seems particularly ignorant and offensive

Cheers Dalton for posting exactly what I was thinking.
I went to school with Dwarves, there were several in their family, and I was friends with them. I was saddened when I read the negative comments regarding 'little people' :( I personally think they are cute in their own way and I was/am very attracted to the actor from 'Threshold', Peter Dinklage.
Also, we have many members on this forum and who is to say that there aren't several members who fit into the dwarf and proportional dwarves catagories? If I were one I would be grossly offended.
In the meantime... I love TAR!

Last time I checked, having an opinion was not regarded as being offensive, and free speech is a right given to everyone.

However, I do apologise to ANYONE offended by my comments on midgets/dwarves etc., especially little people.  I never intended to offend anyone.  On the other hand, I'm sure there are hundreds of people all over the world offending me, so I guess they should all apologise.  Or maybe not... :P  I also don't see why I am being quoted when someone else started all this by saying 'midgets should be hunted for sport'.  At least I didn't say they should be dead.  But seriously, I am sorry.

:oPersonal note to Morgan Pym-  I don't know why you have felt the need to attack me ever since I signed up to this forum.  It's okay, but at least attack the right things.  I got straight A's all through high school for English.  I think I know a thing or two about punctuation and grammar.  :D Now I suppose you'll go through all previous posts to find where I spelt something wrong or used a comma or a semi-colon in the wrong place.  That's okay, if you have nothing better to do with your time. ??)

didn't mean to come off as if I was attacking regarding the difference between the two ;) ... & most of the time I am joking.

Anyway... back to topic

I still cannot believe those full-grown adult men were unable to change a tyre & thought it was acceptable to drive a motor vehicle like they did

The one without the eyebrows scares me... I keep thinking he is ill or something

---

I was thinking about the show as a former girlfriend really loved the show & thought that we would be really good ... I would just worry about being filmed so much & the editing afterwards.  It would depend on which direction they wanted to make you come across to the audience.  I would imagine there would be unsuitable shots taken of everyone or something slips out at an inappropriate time or maybe an appropriate time & just edited in.

With the cousins complaining about the beauty queens & saying something about beauty being only skin deep, cut to the shot of the beauty queens laughing maniacally

those two guys,  the older life partners, are beginning to be extremely annoying.  What is with the constant touching?  The public displays of affection nearly got them in trouble with one of the local tough guys there in Chile when they asked for directions albeit rudely.

I'm not gonna touch the Charla thing, only to say she looked rather cute in her little '50's bathing suit.
I am really annoyed at Channel 7.  Would it have killed them to show us the seasons in order?  When the Kentucky team were talking about these guys they must have had an alliance with last season, I had no idea what they were talking about!

It's too bad that couple from Virginia (I think) got eliminated. They were entertaining! The poor husband terrified of fish.... They were cute though and you can't fault a loving couple like that.

Were they the one's referred to by the others as 'Kentucky'? I thought it was hilarious when he did the 'fish' challenge! He did overcome his fear of fish I believe, in the end! :D That task was side splittingly funny. My recorder stopped 15 minutes after the expected finishing time but I still missed out on the last 10 minutes :( so all I saw were the first 3 couples finish. Rob and Amber can't put a foot wrong when it comes to finishing first and winning great prizes! Bloody hell, two gyms???

I don't know what happens ... but apparently this week things get shaken up in the teams running order & everyone must struggle to get through

I like the more difficult legs

It was pretty cool for the guy from Kentucky to get over his phobia of fish & realize there was nothing to it.  It made his wife very proud of him

I used to like her innocence.  Now she is just slimy.  At least he is upfront & what you see is what you get.  She is more than comfortable lying directly to people's faces etc.

& I have had enough of that couple consisting of life partners.  Enough with the public displays of affection & giggling like schoolgirls.

I agree! Its very annoying ::)

Big surprise with Rob and Amber, funny how charla and mirna got them back in the end.  :) I was quite surprised when mirna said she was a lawyer...unless I heard wrong  :-/

(Sorry I'm a bit late...I just watched the episode today)

did anyone else notice the T-shirt?

Someone has a boyfriend!

One of the funniest things I have seen on unscripted television... I take that back... on television altogether, in the last few months... the two guys finally get the lead in the amazing race & what do they do?  They stop to go fruit shopping

I am loving the Amazing Race again this season. And I know I will receive much scorn but I actually liked Rob & Amber - they worked well as a team and yes they ARE sneaky but so are many other couples.

Every week I root for Charla & Mirna to leave - but in a weird was I enjoy watching them. I will admit they are not as obnoxious this season as they were previously.

I would like Uchenna & Joyce to win. They seem like good people!

No Scorn,  I agree! I enjoyed Rob & Amber, they were good personalities...  Charla & Mirna do annoy me with the Shouting which seems to be just part of their regular method of communicating.  I find that hard to listen to, -not just from these guys, but that NY Family in the last AR had the same tones....  Glad I didn't grow up in that negihbourhood!  ;)

I'd love to the two gay guys "fruit buyers" to win... that'd be funny!

As was previously mentioned,  the boys had stopped in their original series to go shopping.  I think they knew they had more than enough time between them & third place to get some fruit.  I guess finishing first doesn't really matter, sometimes...

I loved that they take the race seriously but not too seriously, they have fun too and there is a lot to be said for that. They don't appear to be really nasty or horrid to anyone. More power to them!

Certainly not compared to the Guido Team ...

I have only watched three or four series, so I have a question.  Has one team been this far behind before?  Where two other teams have actually had their mandatory rest break, of 12 hours, before the final team has completed the previous day's tasks?

I am an avid fan and I don't think I have missed a series yet!

There was one series (not sure of the number) where with the final 3 teams were working their way to the finish line and had to cross several continents . When the first place team crossed the line with the secoond place team close behind, team 3 was still in another country with 1 1/2 challenges (one challenge including sledding) still to complete. They were told and stopped by officials and not required to complete the race.

Never see that before or since though.
Posted by: MorganPym, May 19, 2007, 12:21pm; Reply: 237

They will need some serious luck to make up that amount of time... then again I suppose they only have to catch the next team & beat them to the pit stop by 30 minutes, sorry make that 31 minutes

Danny & Oswald must really be singing the Culture Club /Boy George song, karma chameleon...

They were cruising along, winning everything/or at least coming in top three, until they made a deal with the devil (or in this case, two blonde beauty queens)... I find the irony delicious that the other team were willing to give them 50% of their spare money without expecting them to use their yield for nefarious purposes.

Chelsea Lately had a couple of clips from the latest incarnation, so they could make fun of the program...

There was one guy driving, adamant he knew where he was going, with his girlfriend in the back behaving like a stereotypical two year old in need of a good afternoon nap... the incessant whining & crying was hysterical

I am hopelessly addicted to TAR and hopelessly addicted to knowing ahead of time who wins. Yep... hadta cheat and find out. I will still watch the entire season as always though. This is season 10, we have already seen season 11  ??) which was the all stars show so don't be confused if you see someone off the all stars show and wonder what time warp just happened. Season 10 aired 12 months ago in the USA. They are into season 12 over there now. Whoooohoooo, TAR is back! :D

*resplendently dressed in his Devil's Advocate three-piece suit ... complete with bow tie*

Don't get me wrong, the young lady in question has overcome some severe adversities & is making her life count for every second possible

However ... for someone that says she doesn't wish to be treated any different, she is rather quick on the draw to milk any benefits when it comes to aircraft travel boarding or taxi rides etc

The climbing exercise was explained in the clue & it's just purely commonsense that the boyfriend should have done it ... even if the hydraulic system wasn't faulty in the prosthetic (which if she keeps using like that, is going to damage her hip)

I knew who won the final leg and therefore the entire race, from week one. I was still on the edge of my seat watching not wanting Rob and whats-her-name to win. The two women from Alabama should be so proud of themselves. OMG they did so well and looked so different in the end, better than Biggest Loser, they lost so much weight and became so fit. I just hope the 2 ex-addicts and models use the money wisely. They seem like nice young men with good families. Loved it, If I were Kimberly was it? I would not marry Rob then again from what I saw they were as bad as each other! ::) Loved the Cho Brothers, what a lovely couple of young men with wonderful manners and values. I was happy with the finale but would of loved Alabama to win.

He is a Japanese Father. Most Asian men consider themselves superior especially to women and in particular the women in their family. I am not being horrible, it is fact. She has had a rotten relationship growing up with her father (she said) and are trying to reconnect through this show. I would of slapped him silly by now. He is however trying very hard to change with her.
Love the Goths, what a gorgeous couple. They have to be my favs along with the dreadlocked couple. I personally think Goths like the one’s in this show are fun and would be great company but the one’s that have no personality and are more EMO are just tossers.

The face plant into the building whilst riding the wood bicycles was bordering on the hilarious, after it was shown that she was okay

I like the promo for Nuu Zeelund.  It seems that Kiwi's only walk around in grass skirts still according to Americans.

The brother in the winning couple reminded me of a manic puppet, with his weird eyes... he was far too arrogant

Disappointing series, in my opinion... the separated couple have no chance, with her holding it over his head every time he does something wrong, not that I am condoning what he did by any stretch of imagination

Agree that it wasn't the best of seasons and I would have personally loved the frat boys to win but that was never really going to happen.

I wanted the mother and son to win  :-/

I think they were the best choice, from a very negative field... I cannot believe the sarcasm of the maniac eyes brother when they would win a leg

Yeah I wanted Toni and Dallas to win. I missed the last episode but was told that they lost their passports or something... :-/

I would attribute it to exhaustion, but he left the small bag containing their money & passports in the taxi during a challenge/roadblock

Wow a new Amazing Race again already so close after the end of the last one!  We must be behind a bit...and what a surprise start!  Looks like this one could be an interesting one although I already have my couple I'm going to love to hate lol...

Credit to Ch7 for showing it - I think the US are showing the next season now so we aren't far behind.

Nah we are on par with the Americans. They are only 3 episodes ahead of us.

Nope, we went straight from Season 14 to Season 15.

By the way did I hear correctly that the brothers are gay?
