Hi guys,

First phase of the layout modifications is almost complete. Unfortunately we've run out of time today to start on the second phase, which will see additional layout upgrades, some refinement and bug fixes.

Hopefully everything is working okay - if not, just shout.

Have a great weekend..

I'm reserving judgement until it's complete.

It took me all this time to just now realise that the shoutbox is gone.  I wonder if anyone else had a similar experience or perhaps they did miss it and want it back?

I spruced up the TV Talk section by merging double, triple and sometimes quadruple threads.

Hi Glen.

I had a problem with the sign in process earlier.  I tried to log on from a computer I don't usually use and failed.  There's a few bugs actually, some more serious but I haven't gone back to reproduce that nasty one yet as I'm very tired and would like to sleep but am doing this first.

The first bug is that upon a bad login the software says you have 2 more attempts, but says your IP is blocked for 2 minutes on the next bad try.  This didn't effect me because my ISP gives dynamic IP addresses and if I go to the router page and hit 'apply' to the login settings then I get logged out and back into the ISP and a new address.  I changed my address between each failure of trying to log in.

After I could not log in, and I still don't understand why I couldn't as my original password should not have been effected by the nasty bug, which I'll get to and you'lle understand the statment in a second.
After I coudn't log in a couple of times, I used the feature to change my password to see what that would do as I was 99.9% sure I wasn't screwing up.  I still couldn't log in... the reason again was the nastier bug.... maybe its the only bug and just causes all this behaviour actually.

When I couldn't get in I kept on changing my IP address and created new user accounts so that I could report it.  I did this twice and successfully made accounts but could not log in.

I got my external drive, deleted my firefox profile directory and dragged the older one in, but I was not logged in.  I knew at this point that changing my password must have actually worked since my cookie has me auto logging in... actually thats sort of the forum default.

I sent an email to Suzi from her profile, but I remebered that she had used that for spam at one point, and halfway through sending one to another member I checked my old email account to see if it still there.  It is... I haven't even looked at it in at least 8 months and hotmail just won't die!!!  I hate it.  Its the whole reason I haven't looked at it, is so it would die.  They aren't a cooperative service.
So as it happens, the reset password was in my email, and it was a truncated version of what I typed.  I typed 10 charactors and it gave me 8 of them.  I logged in with those 8, and here I am.

My original password to the site, which I was not able to log into with, from another computer that has never been here, is 8 charachters long, so I don't understand what the problem was there.

Now that I type it all out, I don't think I've really identified any single mean bug causing various problems, and like I said I haven't gone back to reproduce the 8 charactor thing where it truncates the password when changed, or new accounts however I did two of them and they didn't work.  In fact I'm not sure what the problem is but I am pretty confident that there's a serious problem with logging in.

Good luck, and maybe grab a differant computer and try logging in with a differant username before locking yourself out in case there's a forum riot and you need to step in.  You wouldn't want to have to hack into junk just to make a post

Hah!! That was the first thing I noticed

I like the picture links at top and bottom better than the shoutbox.
