Lol tasman
I have to pay for doing stuff though, and sometimes clothes. Lucky now I got a go-card I always tell my mum I need more $ on it and she does it online, so I don't have to pay for buses

I paid board when I was 15-18, more than half my wages per week.   I believe if you don't pay board you should at least contribute toward the grocery bill. If you can't afford that then help around the house more. Your folks would be blown away if you vacuumed and/or washed the dishes frequently. I always had to hang out and bring in the washing, fold it up perfectly and iron often My daughter has been buying her own clothes etc since she landed a job or two at 14 years of age. She also finished year 12. My son paid all but $70 per fortnight of his income to the rent food etc. I think you guys have it pretty damned easy really.   Your folks may of paid off their homes BUT they have to pay... phone, Internet, electricity, council rates, water rates, petrol (running you places) and yes cars are expensive Matt. The original outlay is nothing compared to ongoing costs. I did it tough and no doubt other mature members on here did it tougher than even I did.

I started work when I was 16/17 and always gave my folks 1/3 rd my pay packet for board and keep right up to the time I left home........it still left me enough to rum my motorbike, then later a car and keep me in cigarettes and beer. I also saved enough to put down a deposit on a house when I was 21......
