TONIGHT is the grand-finale of this year's Biggest LoserThe young man in the following story comes from my area (20 minutes south). I didn't realise until I read the story. I don't watch Biggest Loser but for those interested read on. Tonight's viewing follows the story!
Joe may have a crack at riches
17th April 2010
BEFORE entering Biggest Loser camp, former Caboolture Snakes footballer Joe Medway was carrying the equivalent to a winger around with him. Now, having lost more than 70kgs, Joe has shaken that winger and, looking like half the man he used to be, will face off against fellow contestant Phil in tomorrow night’s episode to find out who will make it through to the top four.
When Phil won a 10km marathon he was allowed to take one contestant with him on a special challenge.
He selected Joe and together they made their way to Darwin and Alice Springs to be trained by uber-trainer the Commando.
When it was revealed that whoever lost the most weight would be guaranteed a spot in the final four, the stakes became even higher.
“The Commando experience was full-on but it was good as well,” Joe said.
“He is tough on and off camera but he brings out a different side to you, he helped me a lot with my attitude.
“I was still a young feller who didn’t know a lot but he really helped me out there.”
Being taken to the Outback meant that Joe, who went into the house with his twin brother Rick, missed a major personal milestone.
“I had my 21st birthday while I was up there,” Joe said. “It’s a big day for both of us and we didn’t get to spend it together.
“It was the first time we hadn’t spent our birthday together so it was a sad day but I knew I had a job to do and I knew I had to keep doing it.”
Tomorrow night, in a special double episode on Channel 10, Australia will find out whether Joe or Phil makes it into the grand final with a chance to win $200,000.
“It wasn’t the best feeling that only one of us was going through because we were pretty good mates,” Joe said.
“To go through all that together with the Commando and then know that only one of us could go through was hard but I was just focused on losing weight.”
After the first episode tomorrow night at 6.30pm, where we will find out if Joe or Phil has lost the most weight, the Biggest Loser returns at 8.30pm for the final weigh-in, where the winner will be revealed.
Whether Joe makes it through to the final or even wins the competition is not high on his agenda at the moment – he is just happy with the enormous change the show has had on his life.
“You feel you have another chance at life and you feel like not stuffing it up again,” he said.
“You do feel a lot lighter but it’s the funny things you do every day that really make you notice the difference.
“Getting into the back of the ute was hard, now I just jump up, I used to wear a 7XL shirt, now I’m an XL to a large.”

My choices for tonight are highlighted. No doubt I will not be watching all of them.
My BIGGEST RECOMMENDATION of the evening is BONES and CASTLE. Bones is an unmissable and heart wrenching episode, especially for DR. Sweets.
Watch this episode if you like watching Bones!
