Desperate Housewives and Heroes have been snubbed for Emmy Awards a year after making the top 10 finalists lists for Best Comedy and Drama.
Instead, Emmy first timer Family Guy and critics' favourite Mad Men will take their place.
Announcing the finalist lists for the upcoming TV awards a day early, website GoldDerby.com reveals Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Family Guy, Flight of The Conchords, The Office, Pushing Daisies, 30 Rock, Ugly Betty, Two and a Half Men and Weeds will compete for Best Comedy Series.
Boston Legal, Damages, Dexter, Friday Night Lights, Grey's Anatomy, House, Lost, Mad Men, The Tudors and The Wire have been named the top 10 Drama Series finalists.
The awards will be handed out on 6 September.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist
Frankly not that worried about the so-called snubbing of 'Desperate Housewives' and "Heroes'...they seem too ephemeral and lacking in substance to really have class.
On the other hand, 'Dexter' and 'House' certainly are worthy of nomination...
I don't think House deserves it based on last season, I'd rather see Boson Legal win, Entourage should get comedy. Unfortunately it will probably go to rubbish like greys anatomy and ugly betty because that's how these things usually play out

Actually, if I had a choice between House and Dexter I'd go for the latter. Admittedly the second season was not quite as good as the first, but the overall feel of the show is cretainly in the same area as 'The Sopranos', 'Six Feet Under' and 'Rome' (i.e. the great HBO dramas).
All Drama As Emmy Stars Begin Their Fight 2 July 2008 6:36 PM, PDT
Gabriel Byrne, Eddie Izzard and James Spader will be among the stars fighting for a Best Drama Actor honour at the Emmy Awards, while pregnant Minnie Driver and Sally Field are favourites for the Best Actress prize.
The quintet has been selected among the 20 semi-finalists on a shortlist.
Driver and Izzard are nominated for The Riches, while Byrne gets a nod for playing a psychiatrist in In Treatment. Boston Public gave Spader the chance to fight for an Emmy.
Other actors on the top 10 list include Patrick Dempsey (Grey's Anatomy), Michael C. Hall (Dexter) and Hugh Laurie (House).
As well as Driver and Field, Patricia Arquette (Medium), Glenn Close (Damages), Mariska Hargitay (Law and Order: Special Victims Unit) and Holly Hunter (Saving Grace) are among those under consideration.
Spears + Olsen Snubbed By Emmys 2 July 2008 3:04 PM, PDT
Britney Spears' acclaimed stint on U.S. sitcom How I Met Your Mother hasn't earned her an Emmy nod - she and Mary-Kate Olsen's guest TV spots won't be among those competing for gold.
Both stars have been left off the top 10 list of Emmy semifinalists in the Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series category.
Instead, Sarah Silverman is a favourite for her part as an obsessed stalker in Monk, alongside Oscar nominee Amy Ryan for her star turn in The Office.
Others on the list include Carrie Fisher and Edie Falco for 30 Rock, and Polly Bergen and Shirley Knight for Desperate Housewives guest spots.
The awards will be handed out on 6 September.
