I have noticed some Signature sizes are getting bigger by the week. We used to have a  limit on the size of the signatures and banners. Can we please go back to that limit now so that we aren’t scrolling for inches across the page just so we can read regular sized posts. Although these signatures look great they need to be trimmed down so that our viewing is not compromised and made a pain to endure. If someone can enlighten us all on the size of the previous limit it would be greatly appreciated.

I remember it being one third of an average post size but I think that was vertically.

My screen is a laptop 1280x800 and from opening GIMP and doing a quick compare, on my screen 700 pixels in width looks like it would just fit.  I have my text set up to be bigger though, which might be pushing this page over the norm.... how about this, I'll post one at 700 and then someone with a resolution at 1024 in width can say if it's too big or not.

If it's too big, maybe a moderator can remove it and someone can try one at a smaller size.

EDIT: This one is now 600 accross
and seems to be the thing for my browser on my resolution and my settings.

That’s good Dean, even a tad bigger is okay as well but just not so huge that people are scrolling horizontally for more than an inch. I started this thread in response to people bringing it to my attention. Cheers

Thanks for bringing this up as I wasn't sure, but have had a groan lately as some sigs skew a whole thread page. Cheers Suzi

I'll own up as to being the one who complained. I use a screen resolution of 1024 X 768 and with that I found myself scrolling left and right on some pages.. I went over to a friend's place and he was using (owing to poor eye sight) a screen res of 800 X 600, which meant in some cases he was scrolling roughly 6inches (150mm) either side of center. Needless to say it does take away from enjoying reading the forums, which is mainly why we're all here... Isn't it??

I agree Wurtzel.  That being said, I am graphically challenged and cannot make a big signature.

*sigh* I know it looks like it says 70. It's the font I used.

Now it kinda has less of effect so i might as well take it down.

That's always an idea. But I saved over my big one with the small one, so I'm too lazy to rework it

I was not directing this thread at anyone in particular and did try to keep it low key.
I had received complaints from more than just one member and remembered on the old website (before the upgrade) we did have a directive as to the size of signatures. I thought it would be a suitable time to make it sticky once more for everyone who loves making wonderful signatures (something I cannot do myself) to keep in mind the size for other’s enjoyment as well.

Lol but you gotta admit, I was the only one with a supersized banner and I knew at some point I was gonna get in trouble. Check out the Video Song Contest thread, I said "SPAM-A-LICIOUS! lol *sigh* oh I am going to be hated aren't I" referring to the banner I just uploaded. Oh well, it was only a matter of time. Will definitely keep size in mind next time.
