I am looking for owners of 2001 Patrol 3L who have had engine failure. I blew a piston at 150k and hear many have had same experience.

I have just had the same experience at 163000 km; no prior warning, the car was running fine, and had travelled from Narromine to south of Goulburn, then blew; cracked piston and cylinder head.
What does Nissan say????

Hi.
I have a 2001 3L GU Patrol that blew 2 pistons at 150,000km - they tell me this is a common problem with this model!  Servicing on this vehicle was carried out every 5,000km, and was never driven hard.  The rebuild cost almost $11,000 and the vehicle now has very poor performance.  I previously had a GQ with more than 400,000 faultless kilometeres (roughly 60% offroad).  I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NISSAN - even though I have owned nine and still have a 200SX.
