I really enjoy this show.  I caught the last series by accident when I over-taped the Bill one evening and have been hooked since.  I remember James Bolam in When the Boat comes in and Dennis Waterman in Minder.

Yes , it is a GREAT show !!

Terrific cast and well written with that touch of humour British shows do so well

I remember James Bolam in The Likely Lads ( mid-1960's TV comedy set in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne ) and the
1997 series  The Missing Postman ( a real jem ! )

He was born in Sunderland and there is still a trace of his "mackem" accent , especially when he says
words like school ( skoo - al )

The rest of the cast are also from shows I enjoyed :

Dennis Waterman : as you said , Paula , from Minder
Amanda Redman  : At Home With The Braithwaites
Alun Armstrong :   Bedtime

The cats were framed in this episode!

It was good to see Eric Sykes back on screen and what a suitable part he played!  Imagine saving all that cat poo for 10 years.

Yes !!!

He always strikes me as a genuinely nice person who enjoyed his craft and two quotes from his IMDb profile reflect that :

"I'm proud of being a vaudevillian, the last of my line. A lot of people think my entertainment is candy-floss. Well, entertainment is too aggressive these days, all 'in your face'."

"If comedians want to make a social comment they can go to the House of Commons. I don't swear or do anything suggestive, and I've held onto that belief because when you're on stage you're a role model."

This show is so under-rated.  It's better than the Bill. (I am a big fan of the latter, so that's really saying something!)

I'm a big fan of the Bill as well Paula, I do love my UK TV , much better than american crap, and now that I think about it I don't watch any American shows, its all Aussie or UK . I did give a few a go, like Heros, and dhw, lost, and a few more but they just didn't grab me.

So they are repeats ...no I don't care
I've not seen most of them any way.

I watched last nights episode....SPARE PARTS on  iView...twice...and still didn't get who murdered the 'wealthy businessman who left a three-million-pound fortune to a prostitute'

was it the criminal who was given the boat by the lawyer fellow...the businessman's 'friend'????

GOODBYE fellow eBlah's .....it sure has been nice meeting yo'all here and I will miss everyone of you
