Not. It's crowded.... you know I spent the better part of my adult life as a drug addict. I never understood why my friends, who also got stoned and drunk on a daily basis, felt the need to go out and do what we did quite often on a specific day of the year. I most often thought "I'm still hung over from the bar 2 nights ago... can't we just sit here smoking weed and playing video games? No? and you have the weed this time, so I have to go with you? Fuck!!! this sucks" Now, I pretty much stay at home. I'd rather stay at home and watch fireworks on TV than spend 4 hours trying to just get a train home from city. This year I'll be in London with my inlaws, who's have a national tradition of making a big deal of the new year. Men dress up like women and act like street prostitutes, except begging for money instead of having sex, big dolls of the politicians are stuffed full of fireworks and lit on fire. There's a big family meal... it all sounds really good there, but to be honest the new year has been over rated for me since I was... maybe 14 or so. It sounds fun what they do in Ecuador, but in England I'm pretty sure it's just going to be boring... and cold. The down side in Ecuador is that they're pretty careless and every year people get nailed with rockets flying out of burning politicians, sometimes injured permanently. You have to be partway insane to stuff a large object full of rockets and explosives then set it on fire while standing close by.

Not. Just a bitter reminder that the new year will be as boring, uneventful and unfulfilling as the one preceeding it. Particularly if the notion that the way we spend NYE will be a reflection of how we spend the rest of the year rings true (which it all too often does).  Chinese New YEar? |
