I was 38 and not my phone, my son had one and he had run up his phone bill so high, he could not pay it, so I offered him a loan, he never paid me back. A few months later, same thing again. He couldnt pay his bill and I paid it for him. But this time I demanded the phone and told him he could not have it back until he re paid me. He didnt bother, so I kept his phone. I have had 5 mobile phones since, personally I think its a waste to have one, I never use it. |

My daughter, now 30 probably got her first mobile when she was 24-25 and has only had 2 Nokia's in that time. Until recently she was on pre-paid now she is in a contract with a capped monthly fee. My son got his Dad's handmedown and then my newer handmedown. Always Pre-Paid. Then at age 20 he bought his own Virgin Mobile and at first it was pre-paid. Then he moved into a contract that covered $400. worth of Capped calls per month. Now he pays almost $100 per month for a Virgin Capped Call deal where he gets something like $800. worth of calls per month. I am on my second phone ever! It is a Motorola Razer flip phone that I pay $20 per month for my contract and get $15. worth of calls in that. Over 36 months I will of paid $5 per month for my motorola adding up to $180. over all through Telstra My contract will end in April. Not long to go now. I keep my mobile bill down to around $20 per month. I turn my phone on to silent a lot and mainly use it during 'My Free Hour' which is between 6 and 7pm. |

I've only ever had two phones. My dad gets a new phone whenever his plan expires so he recently gave me his old one (which is basically an "i" version of the Nokia phone that I'm currently using). I can't be bothered transferring my stuff to the other phone though as I have notes, pics and dozens of calender entries that I don't want to lose. I'm not quite sure when I had my first phone, but I'm pretty sure i was around 14 or 15 when I had my first phone. I seldom use it though. I only ever recharge my credit once every 6 months (just before my current credit expires ). I think that phones are a waste of money, and the $30 pricetag for credit is ridiculous considering the limited amount of time I can talk WITHOUT the included "free minutes". Hell, international phone cards are cheaper than domestic pre-paid mobile credit. It's ridiculous. I primarily use my phone for texting though as I find it to be more cost effective than talking for like 50c for 30 seconds. |

Mine was when I was 14, I saved up money from my birthday and bought the Nokia 3200 for $200. Only recently I bought a new phone (LG Shine) which cost me $250 (found it cheap off eBay rrp $650) and is SO much better than the one I bought 3 1/2 years ago. Strange how a much better phone only cost me $50 extra. |

I got my first phone when I was 15, I saved up and used all my birthday money to get it (I remember my dad wasn't happy at all ) and have upgraded twice since then. Before I had a phone it didn't seem like I needed it, but now I think, how did I live without it? I would have no social life without my phone . |
