You can't play footy that's true but, you can play cricket. You can even play for Australia. Just depends on how good a bowler you are. The head office is in your home state.

I don't blame the Government, if I had 600 billion I'd be irresponsible too.

Hey Maddy,

from your post, I think you probably prefer cricket, but you should be aware that you can also continue to play footy.

The Womens football league in Victoria have a huge competition, including a Youth Girls competition. (check out http://www.vwfl.org.au)

There was also a court case in Vic a year or two ago, in which I believe some girls won the right to keep playing with their mixed junior clubs.  The AFL are now working with womens competitions in the different states to bridge the gap between juniors and womens comp's for girls in the 13 / 14 age bracket.

And you can represent your country through Aussie Rules too.
In 2006 the AFL & GAA (Ireland) held the first Womens International Rules Series in Ireland, with Australia represented by a team selected at the Womens AFL National Championships.

So don't give up on your sport, there are avenues out there for you to continue having fun for many years to come!

i think it is unfair on girls with football, but as for cricket their are womens cricket clubs. women invented the game of cricket and play it the way it should be played. there are girls tennis, swimming, etc but mens get more coverage on tv than womens and funding too. if a women played cricket for australia they have to pay their own way if say it was in england. but the men get it paid by the aussie tax dollar. where is that fair?
