Is anyone else watching this strange reality show set in a tattoo shop in Miami?

It's on the Discovery Channel & discovery travel and living channel

It's kind of addictive viewing

I couldn't believe the apprentice not kissing his wife goodbye at the airport when she left to visit her parents because he was spending too much time at the shop & she felt unloved

I was just about to start a topic about this show! Amazing what the search function will bring up when you actually use it...

I am addicted to watching this one too.  As a friend and fan of many ink artists and tattoos, and owner of a few myself it's really interesting to me to see what others out there are getting and for what reasons.  The last week I found it very amusing when the big guy came in to get a portrait of his dead cat Freckles...

But the owner of Miami Ink is almost the spitting image of a good friend, and they are so similar it's almost scary from the owning and running his own tatt business, down to the arrogance and anger issues! And the guys in this shop remind me the ones he has also, they are funny, talented and very serious about their art and ink.

I like this show, almost makes me want to get more Foxtel channels so I can see this more than once a week!

Discovery Travel & Living channel is showing the new episodes

It's surprising how many large gentlemen coming to have ink done in the form of a portrait of their favourite feline ... I guess they show these ones on the program rather than the Latino boys having their American pit bulls Ink'd across their back, which would be more likely

I kind of have a soft spot for Kat ... have you seen her husband?  What a legend!  He certainly has done well for himself

I also enjoy watching the reactions of the military boys when Ami/Ari reveals that he was in the military & they always ask what branch, because he is not that large... only for him to reveal that he was in the Israeli special forces

I am totally addicted to this show!  Having spent nearly half of my expected life span without ever even wanting a tattoo ... I was more than surprised that I had changed my mind after watching several episodes.

I never realised how interesting the process of tattooing is ... including the customer stories they hear every day.  All the artists are amazing ... and who couldn't like the Japanese apprentice???  What  has really blown me away, though, is Kat's portraits ... I never realised - or even imagined - that tattoos could look like that.  What an artist!!!

I missed it yesterday, but then when I checked the guide (Discovery channel only I don't have the extras...) I can't see it in it for the whole month?!  Tell me, have they moved it or removed it?  I'll be sad if its gone, I'm addicted to this show now too!

I was watching the new episode on discovery travel and living last night

Kat's hired a personal trainer & trying to get fit... she would be an awesome woman to hang around... no other woman would let themselves be videotaped doing what she was doing

She is only 24... what about her husband?  Certainly a different individual

I think you must be up to a different episode to what was being shown on regular Discovery... they only had Kat on it a couple of weeks ago down for a visit to fill in while the short one (Darren I think?) had an injured arm.

Yeah it seems like they are now mostly showing it on Discovery Travel & Living ... The one and only reason I watch that channel, I think .. Am sure Foxtel would be pleased!

I believe she was having trouble with one of the fellow artists ... a conflict of personalities, even though they are best friends

I will watch her program

Kat Von D

Kat Von D (Katherine (or Kathy) von Drachenberg) (born March 8, 1982) is a popular Mexican-American tattoo artist from California, widely known for her work as a featured artist on the Miami Ink reality television show on TLC. Von D recently parted ways with the Miami Ink crew, and is slated to be the star in the upcoming LA Ink a new reality television show on TLC.

Von D's parents, father René Drachenberg and mother Sylvia Galeano, were born in Argentina, but Von D was born in the state of Nuevo Leon, Mexico . At the age of 4 the Drachenberg family emigrated to the United States. Von D's paternal origins are German, while her maternal origins are Spanish-Italian.

Von D gave her first tattoo, a Misfits skull, at the age of 14. She started working at her first tattoo shop at age 16. She is accomplished in portrait and realistic art with an emphasis on black and gray scale.

She lives in Hollywood, California and works at nearby True Tattoo shop[1], which is owned by Clay Decker. She has worked in Miami Beach, Florida, but only during filming of Miami Ink and has also been known to work at Elm Street Tattoo in Dallas, Texas. She has an active touring schedule and is frequently a featured artist at tattooing conferences in the United States and Canada.

Von D is opening a tattoo shop in L.A. called High Voltage Tattoo sometime in the spring of 2007.

She is married to tattoo artist Oliver Peck.

She makes a cameo appearance in HIM's music video for "Killing Loneliness".
She collects vintage platform shoes and designer clothing.
She was featured in an episode of American Chopper in a telephone call with the OCC crew. Paul Sr. hung up on her after a rude comment of qualifying the tattoo they've asked for as work for a first grader.[2]
She is friends with Bam Margera and was a guest at his wedding, along with her husband.
She featured in an episode of Bam's Unholy Union.

I watched this episode the other night & I would almost side entirely with Kat ... the American chopper family have this air of arrogance around them now, disrespecting everyone & taking nothing seriously, whilst expecting everything from everyone else.  Have you seen the size of their new showroom?  Plus all of the properties, motor vehicles etc. the they are spending their accumulated wealth on.

Senior's giggling girlfriend & he were joking & making stupid comments over the phone as they were trying to explain that she wanted a very delicate arm band of 50 linked hearts because she is so petite.        Anyone interested in permanent ink is well aware that this is not an area that Kat works in any more.  Granted, she could have handled the situation better.  Senior certainly deserved it & he was only upset because he made his girlfriend cry
