The “Doctor Who” spin-off series “Torchwood” will screen on the ABC this year!

I heard it's more for adults than for children... I'm not sure whether it's more scary or adult content

After checking out the episode guide this is definately something I will watch.A lot of episodes that deal with time travel which is my favorite sci-fi plot device.

Seems to be similar to another US show that involved aliens and secret govt groups.

I really don't know what to make of Torchwood after watching the first 2 episodes. Sure it's good, one hell of a lot better than what it would be up against on Australian TV i bet, but as a sci-fi it isn't in the galactica/ x-files/ Babylon 5 ballpark of actually doing something different that sets it apart.

Jack's character has been significantly toned down since he was in Who, which I'm glad to see, but I don't think I'll be able to stand to much of Gwen. When I look at casting between the 2 series it is a real c**k up!

Fantastic ! this sounds good, I loved Dr Who its just a good little show, I get a good laugh and a cry sometimes. I realy liked the mother, she had some good lines, a bit of a "slapper" but loverable, roll on torchwood.

I have the first 10 eps but have not watched a single one.... yet. My son says it's 'darker' and not similar to Dr.Who at all. The humour and banter in Dr Who is what really makes the show. The new Dr Who and Captain Jack are both gay men in real life. What's the expression? All the 'good' men are either taken or gay!   They are still both gorgeous though.

I think the exec/creater is gay as well? He describes jack as omnisexual. I gonna let that all the good men comment pass by!

I was aware of the actor's sexuality who is playing Captain Jack, but are we positive about doctor who's actor?

Not that there's anything wrong with that!

The guy that plays Captain Jack was married last year to his long-term partner

I don't think he is gay. He was dating someone from the show not long ago.. *googles*

"As of 2006, Tennant is dating actress Sophia Myles, who appears with him in the Doctor Who episode as Madame de Pompadour (The Girl in the Fireplace). They started dating after filming in October 2005."

That's what I thought... I was sure I had read somewhere that David had become a swordsman of sorts after filming Casanova & taking the lead role literally

David Tennant is not gay, he's dating Sophia Miles who played Lady Penelope in Thunderbirds... she also played Reinette in Girl In The Fireplace.

John Barrowman is gay, but he's is still fabulous to watch despite is gender preference.

Torchwood is gritty and certainly not for the faint-hearted.  Overall though it's worth getting through and you do end up getting hooked in the end.  Hooked enough to want to see the second season.

ABC would also air it at a reasonable hour (probably following the doctor) and not skip episodes, take it off every second week

Torchwood is a fantastic series and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed X-Files or the new series of Doctor Who and although I've only seen two episodes of Dr. Who, it doesn't matter as this show can stand on it's own, even though it's related.

It is definitely dark and aimed at adult audiences, which makes it a bit more intelligent and appealing to my taste. In fact I was pleasantly surprised at some of the content of this series. It was better than I thought it would be.

It's got dark themes, graphic violence, swearing, gore and sex. It's a good bit of escapism. I highly recommend it.

10 have a promo going saying "captain Jack harkness is comming". Hopefully it won't start until big brother has been flushed out for another year, even if they screen it at 2am on a tuesday morning it could get pulled for a "special".

I don't actually like Torchwood although I love Captain Jack (why are all the gorgeous men gay?) My son says Torchwood is like the very old 'Dr.Who' shows and 'the Bill' combined. I didn't like the original Dr.Who's, too kitsch for me.

Teen Fit Camp has been advertised for about 2-3 months and it dosn't start until next week.

Torchwood I think will take Supernatural's slot, it finishes in about 6 weeks (how long it lasts in that slot will be the interesting thing).

What is Torchwood rated in The UK?

EDIT: I just looked it up on Wikipedia, and basically it would have to be shown here after 9pm, in other words 9.30 the way TV is programmed here. So I guess 9.30 anyday except Wed or Thu would work better than what is currently in those slots.

I'm sort of hoping Torchwood will die on TEN, and maybe TEN will sell it off at a price the ABC can afford.
