Because programs like Men Behaving Badly are in exactly the same genre as Sex in the City ... heh couldn't find a proper slot in the schedule

Watched the first ep, and liked it. Still don't know how Jack actually came to be in charge of Torchwood though. I'll keep watching, assuming it stays on. |

I watched it tonight and the jury is still out for me. Is it just me or does anyone else find it weird to have an American lead in an English show? Or is this their way of trying to break into the US market?

WOW! I watched it tonight and I have to say I'm impressed, it was heaps better than I expected, I hope the series stays at the level it is in the first ep and that it rates high enough to stay on air (I hope the lead-in didn't effect it). One thing I noticed in TV Week for next week though is that it says it starts at 9.50 (same time as CSI on Nine), why are they both starting so late, stupid 1 vs 100 |

I wondered about that too. Apparantly Russel T. Davies had planned Torchwood before Doctor Who, but then decided to use Who to launch it. Did he always intend to use Jack in Torchwood, or was it just the popularity of the character? Anyway, I reckon if it was to help the show get into the US market, the Welsh accents might ruin it for them. |

So who liked it?
I'm not so sure that RTD planned TW before DW. I think the popularity of Captain Jack may have inspired it but I have no idea. |

We apparently had the basic plot idea before working on Who, not the name (as mentioned Torchwood is an anagram of Doctor Who).

Still don't know how Jack actually came to be in charge of Torchwood though.
Probably due to his knowledge of extra terrestrials, the future and that he had previously served the brittish armed forces. |

A good (albeit predictable) pilot. There was some very quirky humour throughout the show, like that bloke spraying that pheromone on himself to attract a one-nighter, only to spray it on the girl's boyfriend hehe. Although it felt a little superfluous and out of place as it didn't add anything in the context of the show.
I was also surprised with how early it started (it was scheduled for 9.40pm, yet I tuned in at around 9.37pm and by then, the "Directed By" credit had just appeared).
The only thing that distracted me was the video quality, which I believe is common for most British shows. Maybe they have a higher frame rate or something. I dunno. Anyway, I'll be tuning in next week as the Pilot shows a lot of promise. |

it's not that long of a series to commit to & I highly recommend it... it gets better and better.
My favourite so far ... countrycide
The two-part finale is quite moving & explains a lot |

John Barrowman is actually British....Scottish to be exact with, I think, one American parent (or at least he's listed as Scottish/American, so I assume that's what it means). He was born in Scotland and learned his American accent when he first moved to America as a child and was teased for his Scottish accent. He has dual citizanship UK/American. Yes...I know too much. But hey, I was curious about it too. I actually quite liked the show. I wasn't that thrilled with the idea of it but I'm going to keep watching now. I hope it does well. Cass. |

According to my television critic on the radio, channel 10 are extremely happy with the ratings...

Ppppft. They should have switched timeslots between Supernatural and Torchwood. I reckon it would've helped boost the ratings of both shows. |

I'm surprised they were that happy. Yeah over a million in a 9.30 slot is great, but I doubt every person that watched it this week will tune in next week, but then again, maybe word of mouth will help and it will improve? I do seriously think they should encore it though, they are with Pirate Master tomorrow. I think they should encore it after Rove instead of Real Stories. |
