Can someone tell me why Captain Jack is meant to be "the man who can never die"?
Rose somehow bought him back to life at the end of the first season of Dr Who after she had absorbed the time vortex into herself, now any damage done to his body regenerates almost insantly when he is mortally wounded, however non fatal wounds seem to take a normal amount of time, or are definately not as fast to heal.
Not sure what would happen if someone cut off his head

While it would not appear that Jack was born any different from an ordinary human being, the events of "The Parting of the Ways" render Jack with the gift and curse of immortality. When Rose Tyler absorbs the time vortex by looking into the Heart of the TARDIS, she becomes infused with infinite power and brings back a fallen Jack, who had died after being attacked by a Dalek.
Throughout Torchwood, Jack displays human frailty, retaining non-fatal wounds such as bloody lips, but when actually killed, his body heals itself some time after death. In "Everything Changes", he is shot once in the head by Suzie Costello, and is soon resurrected, also regenerating quickly after being electrocuted by Lisa Hallett in "Cyberwoman". When shot several times by Owen in "End of Days" it takes significantly longer for him to return and he is very weak when he does. Shortly afterwards Jack battles Abaddon, a Biblical demon who steals life, using his immortality to overfeed the creature. This death is the most horrific and painful yet, and he remains dead for days until receiving a kiss from Gwen.
Jack's immortality means he has an excess of life energy. In "Day One", he is able to keep Carys alive longer by kissing her. In "Cyberwoman", Jack gives CPR to and kisses a near-drowned Ianto, possibly using the same power again.
In addition to these supernatural powers, Jack is incredibly charismatic and persuasive and as a time traveller he is saturated in "artron energy", a form of radiation inside the time vortex. As a Torchwood Institute employee, Jack is trained in various psychic techniques, including defense against telepathy.[9][10][11] He is apparently familiar with various institutional torture techniques and is proficient with firearms from different time periods. Jack's personal effects such as psychic paper allow him to easily assume another's identity. As the leader of Torchwood Three, Jack also has access to an arsenal of advanced alien and futuristic technology.
The title "Torchwood" is an anagram of "Doctor Who". The name was used as the "codename" for the new series of Doctor Who while filming its first few episodes and on the 'rushes' tapes to ensure they were not intercepted.[4] Davies connected the name of Torchwood to an idea for a modern British telefantasy programme in the style of American dramas like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel that he had been developing before he began work on Doctor Who.[5] The name was subsequently used in the series, leading to this spin-off.
A second season is under production, why don't you leave the shows with storylines to the big boys and go back to you reality shows

Thanks for that, both of you. I don't remember Rose bringing him back to life. Must watch that episode again.
I didn't bother to take much note of what Rose did either

, believe me there are better actors and storylines in Big Brother than there are in this shitty "big boy show". I guarantee you it will bomb when it starts, and if so, I dont see channel ten showing the second season that is under production.

Not a fan, then. Won't be to everyone's taste, for sure. I hope it does bomb on TEN. Then the ABC might get it, as the TV gods intended.

Interesting article. I thought it was because they couldn't afford it. I can see what they mean about being difficult to schedule though. There's Lateline every weekday night, Compass on Sundays. Don't know what's on late Saturdays. Maybe they could have put it on after Parky.
