Ah, Strange Fruit, a very controversial song by Billie Holliday
Southern trees bear strange fruit, Blood on the leaves and blood at the root, Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze, Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees.
Pastoral scene of the gallant south, The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth, Scent of magnolias, sweet and fresh, Then the sudden smell of burning flesh.
Here is fruit for the crows to pluck, For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck, For the sun to rot, for the trees to drop, Here is a strange and bitter crop.
oohh thats a tough one! I've heard a good version from Bob Marley & an acoostic version from Eric Clapton that I liked so its a toss up between them both.

This was originally recorded as the theme song for director Paul Shrader's remake of the 1942 horror film Cat People. German producer Giorgio Moroder had already recorded most of the music and Shrader asked Bowie to write the words and record the main theme. The movie is about a family with a tendency to turn into panthers. Was big hit for David Bowie.

The House of the Rising Sun, not sure what you mean by Metaphor of the title. Its the story of t\a young girl and a brothel (the rising sun). This is about a brothel in New Orleans. "The House Of The Rising Sun" was named after Madame Marianne LeSoleil Levant (which means "Rising Sun" in French) and was open for business from 1862 (occupation by Union troops) until 1874, when it was closed due to complaints by neighbors. It was located at 826-830 St. Louis St. So many versions by different artists, I still prefer the Animals....................

As for your question, you have got me stumped.....I know it is titled "Home" by 3DG but cannot find any reference to your question.
As you can see.....the lyrics are very similar.... My question was related to my answer (to your question)....I deliberately tried to make it harder for you, as you get most off them too easy. You have song correct, it is HOME. Co-written by Simon Wilcox. Simon is the daughter of Canadian rock musician David Wilcox.

Batter steps up to the plate. Here's the pitch, and he's going! And what a jump he's got! He's trying for third! Here's the throw! And in the dirt, safe at third! Holy cow, stolen base! He's taking a pretty big lead out there, almost daring them to try and pick him off. The pitcher glances over, winds-up and it's bunted! Bunted down the third base line! The suicide squeeze is on! Here he comes, squeeze play, it's gonna be close! Here's the throw, here's the play at the plate...holy cow, I think he's gonna make it!"

When writing this song, Keith and Olivia's schedules were so hectic, they ended up meeting in Nashville during their separate concert tours, then finished writing it and recording it in one day.

Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, and is this what you are looking for (thanks to Google) The backing track came together quickly, but they spent days overdubbing the vocals in the studio using a 24 track tape machine. By the time they were done, about 120 vocal tracks were layered together. According to Rolling Stone magazine in their list of the top 500 songs, Brian May said that everyone in the band was bewildered when Mercury brought them a draft of this four-part suite - even before he told them, "That's where the operatic bits come in!" Recording technology was so taxed by the song's multitracked scaramouches and fandangos that some tapes became virtually transparent from being overdubbed so many times. At one point, the tape reels began to smoke slightly and had almost worn right down to the breaking point because of how much dubbing they had done

MELLOW YELLOW, DONOVAN. It was rumoured that the phrase "electrical banana" referred to the practice of smoking banana peels to get high. The phrase has also been considered to be a coded reference to a vibrator. Another line in the song that has caused speculation about its meaning is "I'm just mad about Fourteen", and in one live version, he sings, "I'm just mad about fourteen year old girls; they're mad about me." The song became Donovan's signature tune.

Layla I suppose the theme would be "unobtainable love". This is about George Harrison's wife, Patti. She and Clapton began living together in 1974 and married in 1979. Clapton and Harrison remained good friends, with George playing at their wedding along with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. Clapton left her for actress Lory Del Santo (with whom he had his son, Conor) in 1985.
Clapton was seeing Patti Harrison and deeply in love with her when he wrote this. A lot of people knew about the affair, since it wasn't easy for someone as famous as Clapton to keep a secret. Bobby Whitlock, who was in the band and good friends with both Harrison and Clapton, explains: "I was there when they were supposedly sneaking around. You don't sneak very well when you're a world figure. He was all hot on Patti and I was dating her sister. They had this thing going on that supposedly was behind George's back. Well, George didn't really care. He said, 'You can have her.' That kind of defuses it when Eric says, 'I'm taking your wife' and he says, 'Take her.' They got married and evidently, she wasn't what he wanted after all. The hunt was better than the kill. That happens, but apparently Patti is real happy now with some guy who's not a guitar player. Good for her and good for Eric for moving on with his life. George got on with his life, that's for sure."

1. Tara Browne.........The beginning was based on 2 stories John Lennon read in the Daily Mail newspaper: Guinness heir Tara Browne dying when he smashed his lotus into a parked van, and an article in the UK Daily Express in early 1967 which told of how the Blackburn Roads Surveyor had counted 4000 holes in the roads of Blackburn and commented that the volume of material needed to fill them in was enough to fill the Albert Hall. Lennon took some liberties with the Tara Browne story - he changed it so he "Blew his mind out in the car." 2. Keith Richards.............Keith Richards named his second son Tara after Tara Brown, the Guinness heir who smashes his car in Lennon's first verse. Richard's son was premature and died soon after birth.

I Put A Spell On You by Screamin' Jay Hawkins Don't know what you mean by 'unusual' but..... I found out that song was originally a ballad, lamenting the loss of a girl, he wanted back. It didn't take off well and a year later, Hawkins recorded a version on another label..where he put a curse on the girl, so he could have her. He performed this for first time at Christmas concert, with bizarre stage show, where he came out of a flaming coffin, with a skull on a stick. Many radio stations banned the song because of the grunts and groans in it, but it still became very popular, especially around Halloween. (Jalacy Hawkins was said to have fathered 50 children....I think thats unusual)

Johnny Cash beginning of song based on a nursery rhyme...other wise I don't know real thought behind song.
Johnny Cash was the first to give Perkins the idea for this. He told Perkins about soldiers in the US army who wore their combat boots in the mess hall and would warn their fellow soldiers not to "step on my blue suede shoes." Later on, Perkins was watching a dancer at a high school sorority dance -- the didn't pay too much attention to his date, but he kept everybody else away from his new shoes. At 3:00 a.m. the night of the dance, Perkins woke up and wrote the lyrics. He couldn't find any paper, so he wrote it on a potato sack.

Claramae Turner's popularity grew with her role as Cousin Nettie in the 1955 motion picture version of Carousel, a film viewed the world over. And, it was for her, that George Cory Jr. and Douglas Cross wrote "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" in 1954. It was she whom originally sang it, though Tony Bennett was the first to record it. That is her real name (but if you were after Tony Bennett's it is.....Anthony Dominick Benedetto). (I really knew this......as I love musicals/opera)

Wake me up when September ends, which is line from song and song title by Green Day..... Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong wrote this about his father, who died of cancer on September 1st, 1982. At his father's funeral, Billie cried, ran home and locked himself in his room. When his mother got home and knocked on the door to Billie's room, Billie simply said, "Wake me up when September ends," hence the title. ......................................................................................................................
But as the embers of the summer lost their breath and disappeared My heart went cold and only hollow rhythms resounded from within But then he rose, brilliant as the moon in full And sank in the burrows of my keep

This is what I have about "Pale September" Fiona wrote this song after she was raped , she was 13 or 14 when it happened. Read into her lyrics, and it tells the story of it. "he sank in the burrow of my keeps". She gives in to the pain and succumbs to what is happening to her, and realizes that it is a fight or flight situation and she is better off if she sort of acts like the actions are about lust, and it sort of helps dull the pain away and her armour falls down and he takes what is all of her as a new woman emerges.

August 7............Bon Jovi The song was written in memory of Katherine Korzilius, daughter of Bon Jovi's former personal manager Paul Korzilius. Katherine's mother and brother Chris had dropped her off at their community mailbox which was one-eighth of a mile from their home, and became worried when she did not come home. After an hour of waiting (her trips to the mailbox usually took half an hour when she was not in a hurry), they drove back to the mailbox and, not seeing her, took a full circle around their suburban neighborhood. A full one mile from their home, and obviously off her usual path, they found her lifeless body in the middle of the road. Authorities had first suspected that Katherine had somehow grabbed on to the back of the family van and, with the vehicle in motion, had lost her grip but they soon began to suspect that she had, in fact, been murdered. Using dogs, they were able to track her scent into a vacant lot, and after losing the scent, were able to pick it up where her body had been found. Authorities surmised that she had been approached by her attacker, ran into the vacant lot and, after being caught, was thrown into a vehicle. After being struck on the head (she had a fractured skull and multiple cuts and bruises) her body was then dumped onto the road where it was discovered by her mother and brother. Her case appeared on the television show Unsolved Mysteries, but her murderer still has yet to be found. Paul Korzilius now heads up Bon Jovi Music.

Seasons In The Sun-thats the title, which is easy, but the rest is not. I couldn't remember the singer and thought it was band...so went looking. I found out that the song was written by Frenchman, Jacques Brel 1961 and released by him ( "Le moribond")
Sometime later the song was translated into english by a poet and recorded by the Kingston Trio. I also found out that the Beach Boys also did recording which was not released. Terry Jacks worked on that recording ended up releasing the song himself. Some other cover versions were done by.... Blink 182, Cat Stevens, Nirvana and Westlife and a nice German version by Klaus Hoffmann called 'Adieu Emile' and Spanish version called 'Etapas de mi Vida' Which only goes to prove music is universal......
Here is a difficult one, I think... All the lyrics for this song come from a book of Chinese poetry, except the title. Name song and group that perform it.

Next line is..."You'd better close your eyes and bow your head And wait for the ricochet"...I take to mean, if you've not had to face any difficulty in life yet, something that you have no control over, out of the blue, IS going to happen and you wont be able to stop it.

GOODBYE fellow eBlah's .....it sure has been nice meeting yo'all here and I will miss everyone of you
This song was originally recorded by Australian rocker Johnny O'Keefe with The Deejays in 1958 as "Wild One." Deejays saxophonists Johnny Greenan and Dave Owens drafted the song over drinks after a particularly wild concert and Johnny O'Keefe later chipped in. The song was an immediate hit and made Johnny O'Keefe the first Australian rock'n'roller to reach the national charts. Buddy Holly and the Crickets heard the song while touring Australia and their drummer, Jerry Allison cut his own version using the name "Ivan," when he returned to the States, renaming it "Real Wild Child." Other versions were recorded by artists such as Jerry Lee Lewis then in 1986 hard rock pioneer Iggy Pop covered it for his Blah Blah Blah album. Released as a single, it became his only UK Top 10 hit. It ia theme music for the ABC's all-night music video show Rage

I love this song, and as I said before, the Stones too, but they acted badly over the royalties in regard to the 'little bit' this group used from their song which 'they' had pinched from somewhere else. Which is in itself ironic because of the name of this song.

I could stay awake just to hear you breathing Watch you smile while you are sleeping While you're far away dreaming I could spend my life in this sweet surrender I could stay lost in this moment forever Every moment spent with you is a moment I treasure
Don't want to close my eyes I don't want to fall asleep Cause I'd miss you baby And I don't want to miss a thing Cause even when I dream of you The sweetest dream will never do I'd still miss you baby And I don't want to miss a thing
Lying close to you feeling your heart beating And I'm wondering what you're dreaming Wondering if it's me you're seeing Then I kiss your eyes And thank God we're together I just want to stay with you in this moment forever Forever and ever
Don't want to close my eyes I don't want to fall asleep Cause I'd miss you baby And I don't want to miss a thing Cause even when I dream of you The sweetest dream will never do I'd still miss you baby And I don't want to miss a thing
I don't want to miss one smile I don't want to miss one kiss I just want to be with you Right here with you, just like this I just want to hold you close Feel your heart so close to mine And just stay here in this moment For all the rest of time

I cry myself to sleep each night, Wishing I could hold you tight Life seems so empty since you went away The pillow where you'd lay your head Now holds my lonely tears instead

all correct but the woman's voice on the record is Ellen Foley, but she was replaced on tour with Karla DeVito. Their performances were sexually charged, but it was an act, as Meat Loaf was happily married.
Name song and artist and group she use to belong to. And for something more difficult.....what does the phrase 'godan daginn' have to do with this song?
I thought that we would just be friends. Things will never be the same again. It's just the beginning it's not the end. Things will never be the same again. It's not a secret anymore. Now we've opened up the door. Starting tonight and from now on. We'll never, never be the same again. Never be the same again.

Yes all correct. It is Melanie Chisholm ....aka Mel C...... aka Sporty Spice from Spice Girls. And if you watched the music video you might catch the words 'godan daginn' on the CD that is played, in the opening shots. Suggesting they maybe in Iceland.

Handle With Care by Traveling Wilburys... were: Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Roy Orbison, and Jeff Lynne. Five men who were friends but also superstars in their own right.
This is great video interview:
next question...do you know how they came up with the name Traveling Wilburys
GOODBYE fellow eBlah's .....it sure has been nice meeting yo'all here and I will miss everyone of you
"Wilburys" was a slang term coined by Harrison and Lynne during the recording of Cloud Nine as a pet name for various types of equipment in the recording studio; Harrison, referring to errors caused by malfunctioning equipment, jokingly remarked to Lynne: "We'll bury 'em in the mix". The term was used again when the entire group was together. Harrison suggested "The Trembling Wilburys" as the group's name; instead, Lynne suggested "Traveling", which was agreed on by the group. The American spelling of "Traveling" rather than the British spelling "Travelling" was used because the band started in America and consisted of three Americans and only two Britons.
Girl you gotta love your man Girl you gotta love your man Take him by the hand Make him understand The world on you depends Our life will never end Gotta love your man, yeah.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps...Eric Clapton with the Beatles......Eric did the lead guitar on this. Paul was outstanding on bass guitar in the original recording.
Inspiration for the song came to Harrison when reading the I Ching, which, as he put it, "seemed to me to be based on the Eastern concept that everything is relative to everything else...opposed to the Western view that things are merely coincidental." Taking this idea of relativism to his parents’ home in northern England, Harrison committed to write a song based on the first words he saw upon opening a random book. Those words were “gently weeps”, and he immediately began the song.
It's hard for us both to let our feelings show Some would say I should let you go your way You'll only make me cry If there's one guy, just one guy, who'd lay down his life for you and die I hate to say it, I hate to say it.....

"I Can Hear Music" is a song written by Jeff Barry, Ellie Greenwich and Phil Spector and performed by the Ronettes (1966). Later the song was covered by the The Beach Boys. They released it on their 1969 album 20/20 with Carl Wilson on lead vocals, and was their first single released in stereo.

Your love is slipping through my hands And, though I've heard it all before I know you're telling me the truth I know it's just no use But I ************
GOODBYE fellow eBlah's .....it sure has been nice meeting yo'all here and I will miss everyone of you
When you see me smile, you know Things have gotten worse Any smile you might see Has all been rehearsed Darling I can't go on without you This emptiness won't let me Live without you This loneliness inside me darling Makes me feel half alive
You came along just like a song and brightened my day, Who'd've believe that you were part of a dream Now it all seems light years away. And now you know ************
What three things can't I do with out you???
GOODBYE fellow eBlah's .....it sure has been nice meeting yo'all here and I will miss everyone of you
First thing I remember when you came into my life I said I wanna get that girl, no matter what I do Well I guess I've been in love before and once or twice have been on the floor But I've never loved no-one the way that I love you
I used to walk alone, every step seemed the same. This world was not my home, so there was nothing much to gain. Look up and see the clouds, look down and see the cold floor. Until you came into my life girl, I saw nothing, nothing more. Until I found the one I needed at my side, I think I would have been a sad man all my life.
Do you really think she can love you more than me, do you really, really think so Do you really think she can love you more than me, baby I know she won't Cause I loved you, unconditionally, I gave you even more than, I had to give
What am I doing?
GOODBYE fellow eBlah's .....it sure has been nice meeting yo'all here and I will miss everyone of you
From the moment I met you I just knew you'd be mine You touched my hand and I knew that this was gonna be our time I dont ever wanna lose this feeling, I don't wanna spend a moment apart
Maybe I didn't hold you All those lonely, lonely times And I guess I never told you I'm so happy that you're mine If I made you feel second best Girl, I'm so sorry I was blind
I got a ********* woman I got a **********woman Yes, I got a ******** woman She's got me so blind I can't see But she's a ******** and She's trying to make a devil out of me.

GOODBYE fellow eBlah's .....it sure has been nice meeting yo'all here and I will miss everyone of you
Lying close to you feeling your heart beating And I'm wondering what you're dreaming Wondering if it's me you're seeing Then I kiss your eyes And thank God we're together I just want to stay with you in this moment forever
So if that true...what don't I want?
GOODBYE fellow eBlah's .....it sure has been nice meeting yo'all here and I will miss everyone of you
No one wants to be lonely But what am I to do I'm just trying to be honest I don't want to hurt you too When I'll be there, I'll be there I know I sound confused
Name of artist, title to song and what am I seeking?
GOODBYE fellow eBlah's .....it sure has been nice meeting yo'all here and I will miss everyone of you
People are talkin', talkin' about people I hear them whisper, you won't believe it (Ah ha) They think we're lovers kept under covers (Ooh hoo) I just ignore it, they keep sayin'
Laugh just a little too loud (A little too loud) Stand just a little too close (Too close) Stare just a little too long Maybe they're seein', somethin' we don't darlin'
Hello darkness, my old friend I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence
So many memories........here
GOODBYE fellow eBlah's .....it sure has been nice meeting yo'all here and I will miss everyone of you
