I have adblock on so if someone has a signature that really annoys me, it makes it go away.  I remember using it here a long time ago on someone's but since then I don't remember having done this so most likely I'm seeing everyone's signature.

I find excessively large or desperately attention seeking sigs annoying, but for the most part, I don't mind them at all.

Yes, mine are disabled, I got very tired of seeing such large advertisments for shows I can't stand! I find large signatures to be really annoying, but its much nicer to just disable them, then rag on everyone with a large flashy signature!

There's no need to be quite so nasty or personal about it, MF..........I have the signitures disabled because personally I prefer to read the messages, not the signitures.  Just because some of us have these preferences does NOT mean we are on a really Crap tightarse ISP Per/mth D/L Plan or does it mean we are SILLY then.
Cool it.....

I agree with LB on that.  Being unable to afford DSL or living somewhere where DSL may not be available does not make anyone silly.

I think this may be an appropriate moment to inform users that if they are wishing they had not said something in a post they can ask a moderator to change the post or delete said offense and giving reasons why. I think that being unable to change your post (regular forum users) after a limited time is a great idea because it can be confusing otherwise. For those who truly wish they had not posted something or had worded it differently, then don't hesitate to contact a Mod or Admin. That is what we are here for. Cheers SuziH
BTW personal attacks and disrespectful remarks will not be tolerated. Thank you.

See if that takes you anywhere.  I'm not sure if it would work or not since it wouldn't for me.

Rob is my better 1/2.  He visits rarely and is still learning the ins and outs of the internet and forums.  He has, however, mastered the art of drama in the chat room.

That sound like your dad has just been a little stubborn and afraid to learn something new, or hasn't cared.  Most people I've known that never turned on a computer before are hesitant at first but build confidence quickly.

I just while writing that rambling jibberish, remembered a sort of related thing.  I was in a job where my boss honestly... the first thing I taught him was the power button on the computer, anyhow, I did all of the paperwork and handled his emails and faxes and even the phone because it was a two line phone.  He was discouraged for a few months and didn't try very often because of that discouragement but after having to ask me how to do basic things a billion times, he had pretty much taught himself more than what's learned in those 'hour a day learn from turn on the power button to all your basic skills' in an equal amount of time that he would have spent in one of those classes.  It was just his initial stubborness that was his problem.

...then one day I heard that someone else was walking around the front of the place having a cigarette and saw through the window that he had learned how to watch web-cam porn.  I think to myself now, "I hope I still have desires when I'm 70."  He was 70 btw.  I'm sure we could have done without this paragraph, but it was... neither boring nor fun to type, but I'll leave it here since I bothered.

Edit: I forgot to say... "Hey you're not supposed to ask Paula to hint toward her age"

Same! But my dad's around 43, and he's never really known how to use a computer. All he does is bank, chat with overseas relatives on MSN, or read Turkish newspapers online.

My granddad's also really dying to learn how to use a computer and he even bought a laptop just under a week ago. He really doesn't know much about computers, but is fascinated with stuff like Google Earth, and really really really really really old DOS games lol.

I wish I could help him though, but there's not much I can do for him.
