The "Year of the Rat", and it begins on February 7, 2008. But I notice, not one of us are RATS
The "Rat" is the first sign of the Chinese zodiac.
Legend has it that the Jade Emperor invited the animals for a party. The first 12 to arrive was the Rat, followed by the Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and lastly, the Pig. All the animals were named after the 12-year cycle that governs Chinese life thereafter. Those born in the "Year of the Rat" are clever, ambitious, creative, hard-working, fastidious, charming and sociable, but can be a bit stingy when it comes to sharing their wealth or possessions. Full of charm, the Rat is the object of admiration. A true sentimentalist, family and friends are close to their heart. Their intellect and foresight brings success, money and work. Rats are constant seekers of new ventures and travel.
Some famous RATS: Al Gore, Antonio Banderas, Andrea Lloyd Webber, Claude Monet, Clark Gable, Doris Day, Gene Kelly, George Washington, George Bush, Hugh Grant, Louis Armstrong, Mozart, Marlon Brando, Olivia Newton John, Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, Samuel L Jackson, Sean Penn, William Shakespeare, Yves St Laurent.
People born in the Year of the Rabbit are articulate, talented, and ambitious. They are virtuous, reserved, and have excellent taste. Rabbit people are admired, trusted, and are often financially lucky. They are fond of gossip but are tactful and generally kind. Rabbit people seldom lose their temper. They are clever at business and being conscientious, never back out of a contract. They would make good gamblers for they have the uncanny gift of choosing the right thing. However, they seldom gamble, as they are conservative and wise. They are most compatible with those born in the years of the Sheep, Pig, and Dog.
Bold bits are true I think, but the rest I wouldn't think so, especially the first sentence... I'll have to start checking out my local Sheep, Pigs and Dogs .. eww
Being a wood sheep (there are different elements) my best match is a rabbit/bunny or a pig. I have a bunny for a BF we get along beautifully. My daughter is a snake and in between her shoulders, in the middle of her back, not too high she has an 8-9cm snake tattoo. It is beautiful. She got it in Thailand last year. My son is a rat as was my Daddy. My son should have an excellent year this year. Monkey years are usually very disrupted and unstable. My 2nd husband is a horse and we do not go well together in Chinese Astrology. My son is married to a horse but they are not meant to be together either but it seems to work so far. Probably because they are also both Sagittarian and similar in a calm sort of way.
People born in the Year of the Rooster are deep thinkers, capable, and talented. They like to be busy and are devoted beyond their capabilities and are deeply disappointed if they fail. People born in the Rooster Year are often a bit eccentric, and often have rather difficult relationship with others. They always think they are right and usually are! They frequently are loners and though they give the outward impression of being adventurous, they are timid. Rooster peopleˇ¦s emotions like their fortunes, swing very high to very low. They can be selfish and too outspoken, but are always interesting and can be extremely brave. They are most compatible with Ox, Snake, and Dragon.

Never meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup
