hi, i,m new here my dr just told me i have matabolic syndrome, so i was looking it up to find out what it was all about,thats how i found this place. i also am hypo thyriod, and have been gaining lots waight this year i,m on 50 mg thyroxine, can some one please explain this syndrome to me better, thank you.

Hi party4funme and welcome.  You'd do better to ask your doctor to further explain your condition, rather than post on a TV website that discusses a show about overweight people being ridiculed and losing weight unsafely.  All the best!

Yep once again Ten have ruined their own suspense!  They showed them all lined up for the weigh in at the end of Friday nights show and you could clearly see Laura on the red side, and P'eta on the blue...

There is also a condition called matabolic syndrome, where the body does not process insulin (the fat storing hormone) properly, so you just get fatter and fatter.  While this is caused IN PART by eating too many sugars (and all carbohydrate foods such as breads, rices and cereals are turned to simple sugars in the body) by the time you realise it is happening you have a big problem.

According to my dietition at the Diabetes Centre at a major hospital:

a) if your calorie intake (in both fat and sugars) is less than you're expenditure, you will lose weight
b) I think when the body isn't producing insulin properly, your blood sugar levels rise and the body starts burning off muscle mass and tries to get rid of the excess sugar via urine causing unhealthy weightloss

Who's going to get voted out! Its so nerve racking! Haha.

yeah I don't like it as much as last year. I like it even less now that bob and jillian have left.   but as others have said, they just dont have the personalities. Where is the Big Wal? the determined Kristi? meh.

Well the podcast just happens to have a few interviews with a couple of guys from last season, it is more about us discussing this years group and what it takes to get motivated at home. We have a great chat with Sandy Frazer this week who is author of Living Lite books and we get a little bitchy about this years group. We plan on talking to people out there doing it alone as well.

Bob and Jillian are comming back though right? Jillian said she would be here untill the end, I think this was just to test the new trainers for a week or two. I hope anyway, the Aussie trainers aren't as good - but they're growing on me.
