More Pictures Based on Jeff Lindsay's novel "Darkly Dreaming Dexter," this new crime thriller tells the story of a strange man named Dexter Morgan. Once an abused and abandoned child, Dexter is now a successful forensics pathologist...but lurking just beneath his charismatic personality is a terrible truth. Dexter has corralled his innate homicidal urges into a closely guarded second career: He hunts down and brutally murders those vicious criminals who have managed to avoid the clutches of the law.

---

My second brilliant discovery of the week... the other one was the new version of Robin Hood currently being produced by the BBC

What makes Dexter so good?  Everything! ... including *taking a deep breath* ... his girlfriend is played by Julie Benz

Hopefully one of the channels will pick it up so those that do not download programs can see this brilliant piece of television

Sounds very interesting and hope it does get picked up here.

Has a bit of 'The Equalizer' about it which I like.

I guess there is the sort of vigilante justice that was in the equalizer, except Edward Woodward didn't exactly to what Dexter does to his victims

It's certainly employed a few people from Oswald Correctional Center

The doctor
one of the O'Reilly Brothers
the leader of the Puerto Rican/Cuban prison gang

The only place I have seen more Oz alumni would be Law & Order, because one of the producers is involved.

I've finally caught on to this show and it's brilliant!

A forensic scientist by day and a serial killer by night. He does like his Glad wrap.

I loved the twist with the 'Ice Truck Killer'.

Can't wait for the second season

speaking of Dexter... there is a neat article about it here:

http://thetvaddict.com/2007/03/08/2007-paley-festival-recap-dexter/

its a recap of some festival thing, but they talk to the cast and there are some nice S2 spoilers in there.

Spoiler:
Guest, I'm sorry but you need to register before you can view this text...

and they asked they question:

How much of the second season is going to be drawn from the second book?

Spoiler:
Guest, I'm sorry but you need to register before you can view this text...

Which I thought was fitting, considering how the first book ended, but interesting too.

and.... "the second season of DEXTER premieres at the end of September."

Just finished watching season 1 of this unique and fantastic show.  Absolutely love it.  Can't wait for season 2.  Would be great if they would show it here, but don't think any of the networks will pick it up.

Your not alone about the sister.  She is so annoying.

I have just heard a short interview on Melbourne radio with Len Downs (I think that was his name), programming head at Channel 9 - he was asked directly if Channel 9 would pick up Dexter and his reply was no. He also mentioned that the second series of Weeds is scheduled within the next few weeks.

They played double episodes of series 1... series 2 focuses more on the business that she was opening with all of the guys in the final episode of series 1 when she had the meeting at her place.

I just finished watching them! I have so much love for this show. The first two eps are just as great as S1 was, and it follows on really well from S1 too. Such a big tease though, for the rest of the season. So long to wait for Ep 3!

I'm not sure whether to go ahead and watch the first two episodes or wait until the entire series is complete so it won't kill me to have to wait for each episode to air. Decisions, decisions... GAH!

So I am watching the first two episodes of the new series when suddenly this season Rudy begins looking extremely familiar, besides being the ice truck murderer...

After some serious contemplation it turns out he is in a program on VH1 I have been watching, Fast Inc...         a reality program... he and some friends run an automotive business for celebrities & the wealthy in Hollywood.

anyone watched the pre airs of S2 of this? omg. so good.

anyways, the reason for the post...

DEXTER + Q&A
With Lead Actor MICHAEL C. HALL

Popcorn Taxi invites you meet Actor MICHAEL C. HALL (of Six Feet Under fame) for an on-stage discussion, and preview of his new TV show DEXTER....

....This program includes a screening of the Pilot and second episode from Dexter, and features an on-stage discussion with Actor MICHAEL C HALL, about his title role.

Price: $16/$14

sydney: http://www.popcorntaxi.com.au/event.php?event_id=549
melbourne: http://www.popcorntaxi.com.au/event.php?event_id=552

and it also says...

Dexter will premiere exclusively in Australia on SHOWCASE – the new premium television channel on the Showtime network in December.

which I guess means no free to air, which is unsurprising. But anyways. Just thought I would mention it in case anyone was interested!

Having closed my eyes to any potential spoilers in the previous posts, and whilst I could download those eps already shown, I have just finished watching 'Dexter' series one episodes 1 & 2 on Showcase and am damn glad I did. Whilst not a '"Sopranos" or even a "Six Feet Under", the mixture of pathos, gore, humour, psychological insight and just a damn fascinating central character makes "Dexter" the first best show I've seen on Showcase. And Michael C Hall has if anything improved upon his performance as David Fisher.

By the way, anyone else appreciate how the better US dramas have actors that first got a chance to shine dramatically on "Oz"? For example, Lauren Velez and David Zayas are in "Dexter", whilst Edie Falco went on into "The Sopranos" and BD Wong and JK Simmons have been in "Law & Order SVU".

That would be me!... I think I even had a thread... sister Pete has even moved on, playing the grandmother/matriarch in the new CBS smash hit, Cane

Oz certainly seemed to be a great training ground

The evil governor was recently on Damages as the sexually confused lawyer, in my humble opinion, playing the role decisively

Methinks "Oz" will be looked back upon and seen as the real starting point of the last great phase of US TV drama. HBO and to a lesser extent Showtime have done so much to restore creative values to American TV, and it would be fantastic to think that a similar experience could happen here. Unfortunately I don't think any of the free to airs and most likely the pay TV channels would want to try something as edgy and as dark as "Dexter".

I was half asleep yesterday, waiting for jeopardy to start & I caught the advertisement for this program

Dexter is in an airport & an Australian guy starts talking to him... he reveals that he is flying to Adelaide because it's got the highest per capita number of serial killers in the world & then he smiles to the camera

Brilliant!

Okay, gave it a go, watched about 6-8 eps and was not impressed. Don't like the main actor/character and that's never a good sign..... the last episode I watched was a fairly recent one from the US and it just got too gory and unbelievable. I really love 'Moonlight' but you can have your Dexter.

The SA Opposition said the promotion for the Dexter program was damaging to Adelaide tourism and the city's reput
