Sounds like the relay in the harness has decided to part conectivity or you have a moisture build up inside the plug to the harness ( the one located under the steering rack) as opposed to the one under the relays on the rightside underbonnet.
I don't have the part number handy but i had this issue in the first 5 months on a series 2 SS |

i have a VT CommoNdore as well, sounds a bit wierd , i wonder if it is indeed a moisture issue or non blown wiring short curcuit thing ? ( one of almost the same i guess ) gotta say , i aint had this one before ! previously, mine has been ( a s**t hand brake ) & ( a common prob = Rear Wheel Camber Angle = now fixed ) and that fuel guage alarm sh*ts me as well = very unreliable if ya ask me, ...this of course will depend on time of the day LMAO but i like the VT still , prefer to drive this than the overated VZ SS i'd just save $ 50 first ( just incase for examination) and then get a quote from auto elec ( if free ,even better ) i dare say , he'll have a fair idea before he even begins ! then you'll know what your in for ( too cut a long story short ) |

VTs even the series 2 had the problem of the tail light looms they were clamped brittle plastic type later replaced with a better non clamp version in the VZ.
I had replaced mine - cause its a pain in the butt to change tail lights bulbs as you have this overwhelming fear of stapping the lugs on the lamp assembly when you open it up.
bring back the 6 screws to undo the tail light covers I say !!
I love my SS but the HT HK HG munros are better and a damn sight easier to repair |

gawd , do you leave the driveway ? LMAO
i aint had a prob with me taillights yet ......i said yet !
i got the monaro tail lights on the back of mine, not the standard ones - though i "presume " this is the same loom though ?
personally, i won't be upgrading to a newer holden - even the new V8 - 5.7 SS , i felt was uncomfortable and overrated - VT has a much better interior & feel too it.
as for the VE , ummmm - no , i dont think so ! ...bit ugly for my liking & the front looks way too bulky & high ..what is it with our cars going the euro look these days ? ...never ...EVER !! yukky

correction granted ....sorry - meaning the VZ actually ! but still ..VE - same opinion on shape though but having driven many 8's in my past small or big block's - there is definetly a total differant feel to todays overrated standard engines. and i include my own 5.7 here i've had both a semi warm 245 hemi & 265 - 6 cyl ( 4.0 & 4.3 ltr ) , that would've given the 5.7 a run for its money easily ! @ 14 sec 1/4 mile - this is what the VL turbo did back in 87 ' ..certainly not paying this much for a VE co's of leather seats and differant body work . personally though , i'll always fancy the older cars better myself - it just has to be the right one |

Even the VZ was ugly - the writing was on the wall then with the next style and shape. Lol yes it get a leg stretch now and again same as the Hs do occationally mostly at shows etc I'm just disappointed now looking back i kept the HQ munro too but we all move on i guess. I have ordered a stroker too for the SS *added* - get the Harrop mani ($4000) for you 5.7 you won't be dissappointed |

gawd , your post keeps getting modified before i get to reply lol
its good too have something that will last more than 5 years even in a shed without rusting * slight tongue in cheek, but i hope you know what i mean. ( body wise )
when it comes to oldies , i like American or rare or not seen often Aussie cars. still , one of my fav's from Aust is still the ol' Rambler Hornet 70- 72 ( AMC Hornet ) 2 & 4 door

A Matador (+ fuel) ...well, that explains everything. rather a rebel ( just ) or javelin myself if power too weight comes into it LMOA. RS 2000 , yep did'nt go bad at all for what they were, quite popular in fact ! - size was/ is my only issue actually & ( & bod' style) , but yeah, they went pretty good too . power to weight will win everytime ( refuses to mention the word - Mazda or rotary ) in this subject RS 2000 extremely bloody small for a family sedan though ...but i know what ya mean . |

I tossed it in here cause its not really news worthy and will only get a cpl of responses anyway.
Seatbelt fears spark car recall
As you have probably heard Holden recalled the VE commodore due to faults detected in the seat belt harness. This on a 1 billion dollar investment in a new model but here is the point .
This news artical was listed intodays news events, however and here is the secret - On the day the VE was released I was at the Holden dealer in Townsville on the first arrival of the new VE as i was personally invited to attend and take out the VE SS for a test drive , so I can lay claim to the first drive of it ( Townsville anyway)!
On my return, I over heard and was looking at the fax that just arrived to say that they will be recalling them! - this on the first day of the arrival!
So its interesting it has taken over a month for this to now be public knowledge - guess Holden didn't want the launch to go bad, and here is the big news and you probably wont find any info on it ( too my knowledge anyway) the Development manager in regard to the issue directly ( seat belts) was sacked immediatley on its discovery.

Wow
They really are copying Ford (recall). Not only does it look like a Falcon, it has recall issues just like every new Ford. Are they now being produced at the same factory or what. |

Looks like a falcon -- you have to be kidding it looks like a BMW hence why they now advertising that it handles better than a BMW Everyone and that includes me have made comment in LS1 forums about the design of the VE - it will not make car of the year it will end up as the BA of ford or the P76 ! a dinosaur. The chassis design is unique but it will be another 2 years before that potential will be reached |
