Today the news that Keith Urban has admitted himself to rehab. Nicole fully supporting him. We all knew he has battled drug and alcohol addiction for years. The problem causing previous relationships to flounder and fail. Nicole knew this also and has chosen to support him through his battles in overcoming his addiction. She's a better woman than I going into a relationship with a man known for his bad boy ways, heavy drinking and occassional illicit drug use. I would have run 100miles per hour in the opposite direction.

I think Keith was meant to perform at the ARIAs next Sunday aswell...not anymore

KEITH Urban's uncle has threatened to wring his famous nephew's neck for getting back on the booze.
A devastated Nicole Kidman was forced to cancel a Hollywood press conference yesterday after her husband had fallen off the wagon.

Brian Urban, the brother of the singer's father Bob, said he was shocked by the news that Keith, who has battled alcohol and cocaine addictions, had started drinking again.

"I'd like to get hold of him. I would scrag him (wring his neck)," he said from his home in Helensville, in New Zealand.

Brian said he was not confident another stay in rehab was the answer.

"Well he's done it before, hasn't he? And it didn't fix him," Brian said.

"Why should it work the second time?"

Kidman was scheduled to promote her latest film Fur to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association yesterday but was instead taking refuge in Nashville as her country music star husband endured his first 24 hours at the Cumberland Heights clinic.

Kidman's Australian agent Wendy Day said she had spoken to the actress after she helped Urban to voluntarily check himself in on Friday morning.

"She said to me, 'Wendy, I'm standing by Keith and that's all I have to say'," Day said yesterday.

Urban was due in Sydney today ahead of an industry showcase this week and the ARIA awards on Sunday.

ARIA organisers said they would not be filling Urban's performance slot with a replacement artist.

"It's not a cookie-cutter mentality where you can just replace an artist like Keith Urban," producer Mark Pope said.

Since their wedding in Manly on June 25, the couple have spent much of the past four months apart, fuelling speculation their demanding careers have contributed to Urban's relapse.

Kidman last spoke of her love for Urban at a Rome film festival on October 13.

"I think there is a reason people who are artistic are drawn to each other," she said.

"There's a kind of inherent understanding. At the same time, you don't choose who you fall in love with."

The news says he can't read or write, and relys on what the government tell him. He was under the impression that his boy would be 'looked after' by Madonna until his formal education was complete, then he would be handed back to him. When he found out that wasn't so, and that Madonna was to adopt the boy, no longer making him father to little David, he was very upset. He says he'd rather his son stay in the orphanage where he can visit whenever he likes than to have Madonna adopt. As much as orphanage life would be bad, I think life with Madonna would also be bad...

KEITH Urban may not have landed in Sydney yesterday as planned - but the surprise arrival of bootylicious singer Beyonce Knowles and her rapper boyfriend Jay Z still made for some serious stargazing at Sydney airport.

The crazy-in-love couple touched down for Jay Z's Australian concerts amid speculation ARIA organisers were trying to recruit them as Urban's replacement at Sunday's ceremony.
Despite her casual appearance, Beyonce's star power still outshone her burly boyfriend as the couple made their way through the airport.

The former Destiny's Child singer has accompanied Jay Z on his worldwide Roc Tha Block tour and is expected to join him on stage during Wednesday's Entertainment Centre show in Sydney.

While they are due to leave Australia the morning of the ARIA awards, industry insiders were yesterday speculating over their last-minute inclusion.

"He's supposed to be flying out on Sunday but you never know your luck," a spokeswoman for Jay Z's record company Universal said.

Thanks for posting a reply!      Why would life with Madonna be so bad? Even in tabloids there's never negative reports about her parenting.  In fact she's supposed to be an awesome mum, from what I've read.  I'm not sure she's very good at projecting herself in the entertainment world but she's a good business woman.

I feel really sorry for the dad though.  But is he a truly loving parent to keep his son in an orphanage?  How 'bout if  Madonna sponsors him to live in London and be part of his son's life? (She could at least offer.)

JLo leaving her dog unattended 3 days, with all it's water spilled and it's food untouched and spoilt and crying it's little lungs out and pawing at the door so much he ruined it,  makes me  think being a pet or child to JLo would not be wonderful. I am very sceptical when it comes to tabloid gossip like the above account of what JLo apparently did. I have found JLo a very caring person, along with her husband and cannot imagine either of them leaving a pet alone. With money and friends like they have surely they would either... Take the dog with them, hire a housekeeper/gardener and they would care for the dog, pay for a professional Kennel to leave the dog at or leave it with a friend to care for. I do not, for one second believe that JLo left her dog alone.

50 Cent: 'Winfrey's Turned White'

Rapper 50 Cent has accused talk show queen Oprah Winfrey of deserting her African-American roots to pander to the middle-aged white female demographic.

Winfrey, who shot to fame starring in 1985 race drama "The Color Purple" has since found huge success with her popular daytime show.

But hip-hop star 50 Cent feels her current status is at the cost of her former beliefs and original fanbase.

He says, "(She) started out with black women's views but has been catering to middle-aged white American women for so long that she's become one herself.

"I think the idea of being publicly noted that she's a billionaire makes (black women) interested in seeing her views. But it's even more exciting to the demographic of white American women she's been aiming at to see that she has the exact same views that they have."

It's not the first time the rapper has hit out at Winfrey -- last month the star joined Ludacris and Ice Cube in criticizing Winfrey's perceived negative attitude towards hip-hop's big names after she refused to have him as a guest on her show.

WASHINGTON -- Hollywood blogs were abuzz Monday after Sunday night's 29th annual Kennedy Center ceremony that honored movie director Steven Spielberg, singers Dolly Parton and Smokey Robinson, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and conductor Zubin Mehta.

They were all talking about Jessica Simpson's less-than-stellar performance of Parton's "Nine To Five" hit. Simpson, who wore a revealing black dress and clutched her stomach at times, stumbled over lyrics that were barely muttered in spots. She left the stage in a hurry after the last note dropped, gasping "Dolly, that made me so nervous!" into the mic. It also sounds like she says "you fluster me" shortly after.


Parton looked on and smiled during the performance, and leaned over to whisper to a friend after Simpson exited the stage.

Simpson was in tears when she and the other singers in the tribute came back out.

The Associated Press reported that Simpson, 26, told "Access Hollywood" she "loves" Dolly Parton's 1986 flick "9 to 5" and dreams of working with the country legend.

"That is just something that after that I could die and go to heaven and be just fine," Simpson said.

In response, Parton said Simpson "seems like a sweet girl. I've been asked to do a couple of things with her and someday I'd like to," she said.

Parton, 60, a country singer who has performed for more than four decades, is a Grammy-winner who also has appeared in movies such as "Nine to Five," "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" and "Steel Magnolias." And there is her Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. . .

HI-5 couple Nathan Foley and Kellie Hoggart have called off their marriage, ending one of television's most popular romances.

The children's entertainment group sweethearts were due to marry in March after becoming engaged during a holiday to Fiji last year.

But Confidential can reveal that the pair has split after three years together.

The Sydney-based Hi-5 members could not be reached yesterday, but it's understood their break-up won't affect the future of the wildly popular group, whose program is telecast on Channel 9.

Foley, 27, and Hoggart, 32, have been in the line-up since Hi-5's inception in January 1999, alongside Charli Robinson, Tim Harding, Kathleen de Leon and new fill-in member Sun Park.

In a rare interview about their relationship a year ago, the highly private Hoggart said she and Foley were "very happy and enjoying the moment for as long as we can".

"We're just getting used to it ourselves, but we're so excited," she said.

Hi-5 has sung and danced its way to worldwide acclaim - their program is now shown in more than 80 countries.

The multiple Logie and ARIA award-winning group has also reaped the riches of eight years of touring, DVD sales and international copyright of their TV show.

The fivesome placed eighth on Business Review Weekly's annual list of Australia's top earning entertainers with an income of $15 million last year.

They were still well off the $50 million pulled in by fellow kiddies' group The Wiggles.

A spokeswoman for Hi-5 said yesterday that Foley and Hoggart had "split up a while ago".

Actors find skinny fashion disturbing

Hollywood star Kate Winslet says she finds the current fashion for ultra-thin "size zero" models and actresses "unbelievably disturbing".

"It's so disturbing because young girls are impressionable from 11 up to 19 or 20 even; women are very impressionable at those ages," Winslet told BBC television.

"They're trying to figure out who they are, and they want to be loved, and what I resent is that there is an image of perfection that is getting thinner and thinner, and it's truly upsetting to me."

Stick-thin celebrities such as Nicole Richie and Victoria Beckham have been accused of being poor role models for young women and of contributing to a rise in eating disorders. A major fashion event in Madrid banned ultra-thin models from the catwalk earlier this year, and other fashion shows have indicated they plan to do the same.

Winslet, whose films include Titanic and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, said it was "unbelievably disturbing what's going on at the moment".

The British actress, whose latest film is the upcoming romantic comedy The Holiday, said she refuses to allow any magazines featuring the rake-thin models into her house for fear her six-year-old daughter, Mia, will see them.

"It's only a matter of time before she becomes aware of it, and it frightens the life out of me," she said.

Winslet, 31, said she hoped her success would be an inspiration to others.

"I hope that in some small way I'm able to say 'I'm a normal person, I'm doing all right, I've got a lovely husband and children and I didn't lose weight to find those things, and those things are what should be important'."

Doctor Who star Billie Piper believes that Victoria Beckham should not be a teenage role model because of her tiny frame.

Piper, who herself suffered from anorexia, told Glamour magazine: "I think the whole size zero debate is disgusting.

In the interview, the actress described the insidious psychological affects of the disease.

"It's mad. You've never been weaker but your brain is at its strongest.

"Your brain is talking to your body and they're no longer working in unison.

"Your brain is like 'I disapprove of you today, body'. Your body is like, 'Please feed me I'm so hungry', and your brain is like 'No. You're bad'. I think everyone has it in them."

I find Victoria Beckham revoltingly thin.   Apparently her husband has said he doesn't like 'fat' women. I expect 'fat' in his and Victoria's books means 55kg or over. Thank goodness they've only had sons! How superficial are some people, OMG. Victoria's breasts do not match the rest of her body and definitely look fake. Hugging her must be like hugging a bundle of sharp sticks The sad thing is she equates skinny-ness with beauty.

I agree, I think Victoria Beckham looks ghastly now, she looked much better when she was in the Spice Girls and had a more natural figure.

I'm happy someone who is high profile has said that.  Unfortunately, the last time someone said anything about unrealistic images, it was the woman playing the wife on Everybody Loves Raymond and she was talking about cosmetic surgeries and a week later no one cared.

More on the topic, hearing about 'the obesity epidemic' is kind of weird.  I just don't see it, nor do I see how it would be called an epidemic.  It's a bit like saying there's a Nicotine epidemic, the way it's put, the message isn't even that something is bad for you, but that you're an idiot if you smoke or are overweight.  That's what I hear over and over on shows like TT and ACA in addition to the naming chosen by the network news.  It is not motivational for people who are overweight and would like to lose weight, and it is not a good message to be sending about what a person ought to be.  I'm still waiting for this phantom epidemic though.  I can't say I wouldn't be happier to lose a few kilos though.. obviously or I wouldn't have bothered to type.

Anyway, anorexia and Bolemia, to me, are scarier than over eating.  I've known people at both ends of the problem and the ones who under-ate were not approachable about it at all yet it is more immediatley worrying.

We aren't likely to hear much more about this though, not from Today Tonight anyway... good Lord that woman is skinny.

I think we as a society are definitely getting bigger, but what is more worrying is the children are also a lot bigger and this has serious consequences for their future health. I think the main problem is that kids are not as active anymore, they get driven to school and parents are too afraid to let their young children out to play on their own, I know I am. Its so sad as kids have a lot less freedom than even I did as a child, I was always out running around or riding my bike.

Yeah that's all true.  Also this um... internet thing I've heard of, anyone heard of it?  I'm not sure what it is.  I hear that it's a big distraction for a lot of kids.  Video games too I guess.

Anyhow, good on Kate Winslet.  It's not the first time I've seen her telling it like it like it is.  I'm sure she'll make an unpopular statement at some point.  I enjoyed watching her call Leonardo DeCaprio a girl as well.  Hehehe, I shouldn't even be posting in this section after all my whinging but I did enjoy it.

Nicole Richie arrested on DUI

BURBANK, California (AP) -- Nicole Richie was arrested early Monday for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol, authorities said.

California Highway Patrol officers took Richie, 25, into custody without incident after she failed a field sobriety test, CHP Officer Todd Workman said.

Her black Mercedes sport utility vehicle was stopped in the car pool lane of State Highway 134 when officers arrived.

Authorities said they received 911 calls about a car going the wrong way on the freeway and the car matched the description of Richie's.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department report, Richie was set free on $15,000 bail. She was listed in her police report as being 5-foot-1 and 85 pounds.

Richie, star of "The Simple Life" reality series and daughter of pop singer Lionel Richie, was booked in Glendale, tested for drugs and released later Monday morning, Workman said. He said the results of the drug test hadn't been determined.

A CHP officer, Mark Garrett, told the Los Angeles Times that Richie admitted smoking marijuana and taking Vicodin before her arrest. Vicodin is a prescription drug taken for pain.

A message left with Richie's publicist wasn't immediately returned.

Burbank is 10 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles.

Robbie's onstage smoking sparks outrage

Health groups have dubbed rocker Robbie Williams a "very bad boy" for smoking onstage during one of his sell-out Brisbane concerts.

The British entertainer on Wednesday night smoked a cigarette during banter with the 52,000-strong crowd at Suncorp Stadium, in the first of two Brisbane shows from his Close Encounters world tour.

Williams, 32, told the adoring crowd he was well aware of a smoking ban at the venue, but had failed in his attempts to quit.

Authorities have urged Williams not to repeat sending the "wrong message to kids" and flouting the law by sparking up again at Brisbane's second show.

The Queensland Cancer Fund's prevention and early detection unit manager Susan Greenbank said his smoking performance was disappointing, but hardly surprising.

"Robbie's a very bad boy and there are a number of staff at the Queensland Cancer Fund who are more than willing to give him a stern talking to about this," Ms Greenbank said.

"It's disappointing he chose to break the law.

"(But) that's probably indicative of his attitude to most things ... he's very 'I'm Robbie Williams I can do what I like' - it's just consistent with the rest of his behaviours, so it's probably not that surprising."

A spokesman for Health Minister Stephen Robertson said authorities wouldn't pursue a $150 fine for Williams - the penalty imposed for breaking anti-smoking regulations at sporting venues.

I think Robbie Williams as a singer, can be brilliant but not that long ago I started to feel he takes things just that bit too far. He mooned an audience at one of his shows. Indecent exposure! I have a firm distaste for people who feel the need to expose their bums to others. I truly hate it and since then don't watch Robbie Williams at all when he is on TV. Smoking and the public act thereof only reaffirms my opinion of him.

Regarding the above posts on obesity and slimness. I find so many girls and young women these days are super slim. My daughter wears hipsters and trendy clothes that show of her waist and hips and she looks fabulous at almost 30 yrs of age. I notice many girls/women when out shopping, who are teeny tiny things. Not terribly well endowed on top as opposed to Victoria Beckham but very feminine waists and hips. What used to be called 'petite' around 162-165cm tall and 45-55kg.There seems to be an entire generation or two of them.
