Amy Winehouse going into rehab British soul singer Amy Winehouse, who this week appeared in video footage apparently showing her smoking crack cocaine, has entered a rehab clinic, her record company says.
The troubled 24-year-old, who has been dogged by frequent suggestions of drug taking in recent months, has also cancelled a scheduled performance at an awards ceremony in France this Saturday, record company Universal said today.
"After talks ... she has decided to go into rehab," the company said.
Winehouse is one of Britain's top-selling singers, winning critical and commercial success with her hit album Back to Black, which gathered six Grammy nominations in December.

David Tennant's romance with a blonde TV assistant has been confirmed in the press today.
Bethan Britton, who works as a contracts assistant at a BBC office in Cardiff, was first linked to the Doctor Who actor in November.
"I am seeing David and am extremely happy," Bethan told The People. "He's a great guy and I love being with him. It's a serious relationship. Things are going well."
Britton added that she has been dating David for "a few months".
Tennant split from Thunderbirds actress Sophia Myles in October.

Nigella's tough love WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 30, 2008 British celebrity cook Nigella Lawson says her children won't inherit a penny of her $250 million fortune when she dies.
The 48-year-old star of Nigella Express is worth an estimated $15 million, while her husband — marketing guru Charles Saatchi — is thought to be worth over $230 million.
But according to Nigella, her children won't benefit at all from the family's wealth.
"I am determined that my children should have no financial security. It ruins people not having to earn money," Nigella told British magazine My Weekly.
"I argue with my husband Charles because he believes that you should be able to leave money to your children. I think we'll have to agree to disagree."
Nigella has two children from her first marriage, 13-year-old Cosima and 11-year-old Bruno. Her husband Charles has one daughter, 12-year-old Phoebe.
She hasn't yet said what she plans to do with the money, although she works closely with cancer charities after losing her mother, sister and first husband to the disease.
Having had a privileged upbringing herself as the daughter of a Conservative chancellor, Nigella says she wants her children to know "that you have to work in order to earn money".
I am amazed by this woman. As a cook I cannot stand her. If I ate what she cooks and eats I would be the size of a house! How terribly sad she has this attitude about her children inheriting any money. I think her second husband has the right idea, imho. You don't need to give your children ALL your money. Make trust funds for the children so they do have to make their own way. I just hope her husband does what he wants to do and lets Nigella go on her own merry way regarding any inheritance for their respective children.

Amy Winehouse's publicist says the singer will not be performing at this year's Grammy Awards ceremony because the United States has denied her entry to the country.
The Outside Organisation, which represents the troubled retro-soul sensation, said Winehouse's request for a visa had been turned down by the US Embassy in London.
"Unfortunately her application for a visa to enter the United States of America has been rejected at this time by the American Embassy in London," it said in an email statement.
"Amy has been progressing well since entering a rehabilitation clinic two weeks ago and although disappointed with the decision has accepted the ruling and will be concentrating on her recovery."
As much as I like (especially Kate) I think it is a big mistake for them to marry. Kate's Mum and partner have proven the greatest way to a long lived Hollywood relationship is not to marry. Kate has already been married once and is not that long out of the divorce, why jump back into the fire so quickly. Plus with Owen's prior drug taking and suicide attempt....
