Hi everyone, I have just seen a website that launched it's campaign against Pay TV snatching sport away from free-to-air !!

Myself, I am so sick of Pay TV channels getting all the goods with cricket, soccer (like the A-League on Fox Sports), the NBL and the Super 14 rugby !!

If you want to campaign with them back to free to air and protest against them taking more sports from free-to-air, just go to http://www.savemysport.com.au

Yeah, have visited the site frequently. (BTW, the Super 14 will be on FTA next year if you're interested)

I would rather watch vey good coverage on pay TV than poor coverage on FTA TV. I hate when a Channel (10) has the exclusive rights to the second most popular sport in the world (F1) and still do a bad job.

My answer is NO. Maybe when pigs fly.

Channel Ten is a waste of space and the joke of Australian TV!

I HATE CHANNEL TEN!

There are far more important things I'd pay for first, rather than any sport.  So I'll say no way to Pay TV Coverage.

I agree with MAB. If the coverage is good on FTA then yes but in my opinion this is rarely the case so I would vote No.

I think all sports should remain on FTA.  there are thousands of pensioners and low income earners out there that just cant afford it.  Why should they miss out because of the greed of pay tv companys wanting complete control of everything..??

To my understanding if these new proposals are put in place not alot of what we see on fta will change all that much and I guess alot of it depends on what sports you are into aswell. I agree with alot of you, even though sport is a commodity and the owners of these competitions should be able to sell their product as they see fit, the average Australian should on the other hand be able to have access to most main events because this plays a big role in the Australian culture. Seven & Ten are scaring alot of viewers into thinking we will lose alot of what we already see with their "Save my Sport" campaign and this is not entirely true. The truth is both sides of the isle are greedy. fta purchase alot of shows from the states only to neglect or delay alot of sporting events in Australia and then have the audacity to claim they care about Sport and that it should be free for the people. Seven & Ten are even squeeling that foxtel are not offering enough money to purchase some of the AFL coverage they need to unload because they simply do not have the time or care to broadcast it. I still think that fta should have first bidding rights to alot of the events as they do now but why should they hold on to it if they are just going to abuse it? If its too much of a burden to broadcast most sporting events live then let pay tv do it because they are quite happy to take up the challenge. If the proposed "Use it or lose it" system comes into place with the correct amendments restricting pay tv to monopolise on our sporting events then I'm all for it. Don't be fooled into thinking this is a david and goliath battle to keep small fta out of harms way because with the amount of crap they buy from America in proportion to the amount of broadcasting time they have available, they are guilty of being just as greedy as pay tv.

Because FTA TV coverage for some sports is CRAP.

I know I'm a bit slow but here goes (also, so everyone knows I have Foxtel).

I lived in NZ a while and MOST of the big sports events are LIVE on their PAY TV service.  This does NOT mean that FTA miss out, as they get to show the sporting event delayed.

Another major point is that the Pay TV operator is not owned by (or partly owned by) any FTA media owner so their programming in general is a LOT better than Foxtels.

I do not mind paying for sports, in fact I think it is needed here.  ALL channels seems to delay broadcasting LIVE shows out of their comfort zone (eg League in Melbourne, AFL in Sydney, Motorsport in general) so what they would be giving up is only the prestige of having to be the broadcaster for the respective sport.

As for the SAVE Sport adverts what a lot of b@llocks.  The same day they started (or I noticed the add) they broadcast the League Test (in Melbourne) on Sunday 11.00 pm (so in other words nearly 1/2 day after it was played in NZ).  These to teams are the No 1 and 2 in the WORLD.   Granted it's only a small group of countries that play but you could say that about Cricket/Netball etc.

I don't see why I cannot watch a LIVE Sport on PAY TV if the FTA want to snub their noses at the people who want to watch it.

And final point, even when the FTA broadcast a LIVE game/event, what the $%^& are the adds about.  In NZ they digitally delay the match so you don't miss anything (how many times have you watched motorsport to find an overtaking manouvre missed etc because they cut away to adds).  So anyone who watches FTA will not miss anything and those that want to pay for Foxtel get what they want as well (which is LIVE, no adds sports)

OK, where's the 'Don't Save My Sport' petition?! I could not believe the other Saturday, there was golf on 7, cricket on 9, and cars on 10!
