I shop at Bi-Lo, while my parents shop at Coles because of my Coles Group Discount Card.

I live in an area well serviced by shopping centers . . . I visit a couple of them. . . just depends on what is on offer.

I shop wherever.  I may try the new Woolworths that's to open tomorrow; it's just over the road from us and is part of the shopping centre's expansion.

I frequant Woolworths/Safeway because our Bilo had THE crappiest trolleys! Trolleys are usually bad, but these were just beyond bad! Plus they have a bit of a europeian wasp situation in the warmer months. You'd come out and find them swarming around the front of cars, eating all the dead bugs - ew! They recently replaced all their trolleys, but I really don't like wasps, so I'll stick with Wollies!

Good for you! . .

I travel the country where beef and sheep producers are having to sell off their stock at prices so low just to market the animals before they lose condition in the drought.  They get diddly for them but I notice the Coles and Woolies stores are still charging $33 per kilo for many cuts of meat.
When approached about the 'profiteering' the bosses answered with 'we buy only well maintained grain fed animals' . .

Then I want to know . . . where can I buy this cheaper meat the farmers are selling for $25 - $40 per animal so I can at least show my support to those who do the work .  . . I can't find a supermarket anywhere that is selling 'fire sale' price meat  . . .

I complained to the fruit & eg manager today about how short the life is on mushrooms recently.
They used to be stored and useful for a week in theiir brown paper bag. Now I am lucky to be able to use them within 36hrs.
Mushrooms bought on Friday 4pm have become shrivelled and rubbery by Saturday or Sunday  night.

It probably won't change anything . . but I have noticed the price was much lower today than the last few months . . maybe others have stopped buying them like me.

I thinks its just our coles, the one near my sister seems to be ok, but I have found that the milk and youghurt don't seem to last I have bought them come stright home put them in my fridge and the next day the milk was off and the youg had mold, so I took it back and the refunded the money but thats not the point, so I made comments on the handout that they have by the regester, and the told me that all their fridges are working fine.

It is really important to check the Use By Date on all dairy products.
I have seen some Out Of Date yoghurts and sour cream with expirey dates at least a week old. .

Eggs is the other one. The U.B.D is often obscure and very hard to find, let alone read. I suspect that is done on purpose.

I moved house in Sept  2005 and chucked everything from my fridge out (salad dressings, condiments of all kinds) so as to start fresh.
Nothing in my fridge should have a use by date before then.  2 months ago I went to use a salad dressing and it smelled 'ripe'.
I looked at the date and it was July 2005!!!! . . I bought that bottle in Nov last year.     I now read EVERY date.

Woolworths has fairly recently opend up over the road and is giving IGA a run for its money.  I find the former is cheaper & has fresher produce.

And another thing that get my goolies, Westfield, with their parking, um is it just me being a cranky old b***ard or do you all find this annoying, "Parking for Parents with prams" , now I have no problem with disable parking or senior parking I agree with this, But parents with prams arent the prams on wheels? so why cant they park anywhere else like the rest of us first in first served, I got lost in the car park as I was looking for a section for small blue cars only, for single white males/females without kids, I mean if they have to walk that little bit further than they might loose some of that baby fat that they are still carring, but the good thing is that they are all  together   so they cant scratch your car with their prams as you dont park there.

That is the main point . .  when they need to get kids and prams from the car they need wider spaces . . (or your car 'gets it'.)

I don't understand why they get the areas closest to the doors of the shopping center though   . .  that seems a bit much . . they could have their 'zone' a few aisles back and more 'near the door' areas could be marked for 30 min parking for those who plan to be quick.

I shop at Woolies I prefer the variety of salads there. I also shopped at Aldi when I lived in Germany, they don't have any in Adelaide, not that I would get my main shop there just a few odds and ends. I remember they used to sell great cheap beer in the ones in Germany, mind you they sell beer in McDonalds in Germany also

I think the reason they put parking spaces for prams near the shops is because it is safer than pushing your pram through the car park, I don't resent them having those spaces at all as I know how handy it was when my kids were small.

Beer in Maccas!! . . it won't be long . . with a huge corporation and its political power . . and Howard facing 'extinction' later this year . . they will allow anything to make  'the bottom line'  healthier now.

My son buys most of his stuff in Perth at his local IGA also, he loves their Kangaroo meat roasts. Our very large IGA (not within  walking distance  ) is open 24/7 and has just last week brought in a 10% pensioner (that includes me) discount. Must check it out sometime. Otherwise there are a couple of items only Woolworths sells that I buy and the rest I do at Coles, oh and 150 meters up the road is a place called Cocos that sells the best vegetables, Black and Gold products and a lot of local produce including the best yoghurt in the world. There is a butchers in the same building that sells the best (and cheapest) preservative free meats, where I can spend $40. in the blink of an eye. Gluten free long chicken sausages being one of my fav's. Being a Butcher's daughter and having worked in the family business for years when I was young, I am extra fussy with my meat

Actually I shop on Coles Online. I find it better than waiting in queues in the supermarket. Also the range is quite large more than I expected. When I placed my first order I was surprised with the service and the way everything was packed nice and neat. Also with fuel prices rising this is a good way to save on fuel. Also the Customer service is fantastic.

Also they have just upgraded to a new website which I think is one of the best I have seen.

I would recommend Coles Online to anyone that I meet.

Yesterday I shopped at Coles I bought the most groceries I have for a loooong time and it was under $200. by $15.00. That is a fortnights shopping. Very crowded and busy where I shopped though at the Sunshine Plaza Maroochydore. Dara has been there.
