I remember there was talk of the possibility of a fourth commercial television network in Australia a few years ago. I personally think that it would be great. The more competition there is, the more that we, the viewers win. Some disagree, saying that there is not enough advertising money, but I think that it could work.

I totally agree Australia needs another commercial TV network (and possibly two new networks over a period of time). There is a desperate need for something new and more competition.

No, we just need networks (like TEN) to air some half intelligent stuff!

We would just end up with more American crap on our TV's. The benifit of having only three commercial networks is that we only normally see the best of the American stuff, not all of it. Plus, imagine having four things on in the same timeslot that you like, it would suck.

Less chance of 10 doing that than the other channels I think

P.S. Seriously, nice avatar

We would see more of everything and at least we wouldn't have to wait as long to watch our favourite shows, or have to record them because they are on at a stupid time. Four things on at once, that would heaven.

We are also missing out still on some great shows that air in the US that don't air on Australian Free-to-air television, but i wouldn't say more than 4 @ the moment because then that statement might come true.

McKay: "Don't stare, he hates it when people stare."
Sheppard: "Am I the only one who thinks it's strange we're working with an alien?"
McKay: "Intergatic hyperdrive technology is kind of new to us, so we need his help."
Sheppard: "Is he suppose to be naked like that?"

Yes Australian TV has a lot of 'quality' shows on TV at the moment  - Quizmania, Home & Away, Neighbours, 20 to 1, Magdas Funny Bits - the list is endless... plus I'd rather have four programs on at the same time that I like than four crap programs.

Hell no, if anything we need to get rid of one... I say ch7 since they are incapable of broadcasting in HD.

They do broadcast HD, but it's not full HD.

Why does it matter so much? Sure in a few years it will be essential, but now I think that most of the population couldn't care.
