This show should be a massive hit here, considering all of Jamie's shows have been hits for Ten.

Jamie's Kitchen Australia premieres Thursday 14 of September at 7.30. I wonder if he will do any button pushing for the promos

How long will the series last, till the end of the year?

I'm guessing it'll be around 6-8 episodes, much like Jamie's School Dinners, especially if its an hour-long show. I can see it rating well, but it will be a short-lived series.

I think its a good idea. The cafe he opened in the U.K.(i think u.k.) is still around and each year they take 15 new underprivaged kids and give them a real go!!!  good bloke if you ask me!!

Every TV show is made for with the intention to make money. At the least he is helping others while doing it. And the cafe in the U.k. is still running and taking in new kids each year dispite the tv show about it finished a few years ago.

Australian schools aren’t anywhere near as bad as the UK... at least we have salad rolls n fresh pasta dishes available and I dunno about other schools but I memba the rolls n pasta being sold out WELL before sausage rolls and that were in high school.. we would line up first to get them before they were gone.. So stick ur tongue at that uk!! lol.

N besides it's those primary school lunch boxes they need to tackle!! tisk tisk u naughty parents! I've had parents pack bags of popcorn for my kids n what else... oh, two or three fruit drinks instead of water! I catch a few parents trying to sneak by without packing the compulsory sandwich or fresh lunch.. It’s for sure those lunch boxes that need tackling! lol.     

Yeah, but unlike the US and the UK, VERY rare schools have cafeterias which essentially FORCE kids to eat fatty foods on a regular basis (at least I haven't seen any cafeterias in Australia).

My school canteen sells a lot of fatty stuff. Such as pies, burgers, chips, one-off specials (such as spaghetti or fried chicken). Oh, and soft-drinks too (the caffeine-free ones such as Fanta/Solo etc). Sadly I don't think they sell anything suitable for vegetarians.

I saw a report on TV where parents were regularly turning up to school at lunchtime and throwing bags of McDonalds over the fence for their kids.

What the? Have we really come to that?

That said, I still have fond memories of collecting the lunch basket at Primary School, full of paper bags for those who ordered lunch. The smell of party pies, hotdogs and stawberry Big M's was always good stuff.

I almost never go to the tuckshop but I think we sell healthy and unhealthy. We have unhealthy stuff like lollies, ice blocks, soda, pies, sausage rolls, pizza on wednesdays, hot chips etc but we also sell like water, milk, sushi, rolls/sandwiches, hot food like stir fries etc, fruit salad and stuff. I think our snack machines are going soon but the touch people sell freddo frogs constantly, they sell like 1 box a day so we can still get chocolate (yes!)

I read in TV Week today that Jamie isn't even going to be on the show most of the time. He is coming over for the launch and that is it, his off-sider Tobie will be running the show. TEN are just basically using his name because he is well known by the look of it, why not call it "Tobie's Kitchen?"

1.33 million viewers tuned in nationwide. It came #2 overall for the night... although it didn't help DT/RJ's ratings at all. They rated at 790,000 and 690,000 respectively with a re-run of Law & Order following with only 570,000. Seven News topped the night with 1.34 million viewers.

I hope Jeric does well to boost Ten's share on Thursdays. I think they sould move Jerico to 8.30 and more Tench and Ronnie Johns back to 9.30 and 10.00 respectively. This would provide Ten with a killer 7.30-9.30 lineup.

^ I agree, but I do think DT and Ron will slowly increase its audience over time in the current timeslot.

I don't know... I have little faith in DTT, and RJHH should be in a later timeslot.

The only logical explanation for Ten airing Jericho at 9.30pm is because they aren't aware of the classification of the programme seeing as it airs soon after it airs in the US. So they're preparing themselves should an episode be classified MA15+.

I'm pretty sure Ten get to see the episode around a week before it airs though.

Seems to be M-rated, as it is now in the 8.30 timeslot.

Did you guys see that 16yr old argue with the chef dude? How arrogant and awful was the chef! He was going about that lecture in entirely the wrong way! I was arguing with my dad over that, he was on the chefs side! I think he is a jerk now (the chef)

Proof that they are taking on people with too much baggage... who does this child think he is that he could even consider throwing something at a superior?  The chef is not trained to handle people with problems like he's suffering, the chef is trained to teach people to cook chicken properly(without salmonella) ... in a workplace situation speaking to your boss, even close to the attitude of the young man would warrant immediate dismissal.  It's literally a case of if you cannot handle the heat, get out of the kitchen

Admitted, the chef was wrong to return the threat.  But he is only human & not trained in this very sensitive area.  Normally he would just sack him whilst laughing

He should be the bigger man he is older and employed by them after all! If he is not then he should be fired. How would you know I have no idea what it's like to work in the real world, for your information I work in a kitchen and I do know what it's like!

The chef responded saying he'd give him 29 secs before he would kill him. Both doing excactly the same thing. He did not apologise for this remark and no one will look kindly on death threats and that is not the way to deal with someone like that.

Sounds like a load of garbage to me; so glad I don't watch it.

& you say you work in a real industrial size kitchen?  Highly doubtful young one, because otherwise you would fully comprehend what it's like to work in such a pressure situation.  To speak to your boss like that?  No way, no how!  Especially in the service industry... the language & threats that occurred regularly in a proper kitchen would make a sailor blush

The boss aplologised for misleading him with instructions, he never apologised for threatening to kill him.

The one that I thought would fail immediately, because she was stoned on methadone at the initial interview & admitted that she had only just started a program, is ironically the one that is succeeding the most... she is leisurely kicking asses & taking names... everyone is thoroughly impressed with her skill level & she is arriving early to every single class, missing nothing & taking full advantage of the opportunity offered.

As for the madness of their manners ... you must remember these people have been treated like crap.  Every single person has more than likely let them down OR they believe this to be true.

Having said that, the aforementioned young lady is also polite.

She seems like she is still on drugs because she is ... she is on methadone.  Basically, they slowly wean you down until you do not need it anymore  

Thursday's are fast becoming my favourite TV night in - Jamie's Kitchen followed by Jericho. Both had slow builds but now are both compelling stuff.

I have to work late nights on Thursdays, so I only catch Jericho and Ronnie Johns. I might tune in to Jamie's Kitchen if I get time.

I think the chef reacted in the heat of the moment and felt like he couldn't back down. I think he should have made the boy apologise in front of the whole class or something.

I'm actually watching it now (love my dvd recorder!). A very emotional show.

Amos came back and apologised. The whole group went out on a "sourcing trip" including the Tafe teacher. A relaxed weekend trip, giving them a chance to cook as they wanted (salmon they caught) and for the teacher to see them as everyone else has told him they are like .. without the stress of Tafe.

Amos (right at the end of the show) was accepted back into Tafe after his week of suspension, but he now has very little time to complete his assessments successfully.

The side group is no longer a seperate group. Toby took CJ aside with the female co ordinator (sorry, I'm bad with names) and they were both surprised that she cried as she realised she probably wasn't going to make the cut. They thought she would have already come to that conclusion and her honesty made the rethink their strategy.

The group cooked a gourmet BBQ for the builders of the restaurant.

Hmm, there was more but it's 5am and I need to get some sleep before work tomorrow night!

i also wondered why erin isnt going to the uk but she has a kid is probably why.

I'm hooked on this. Its hard not to feel for most of these kids and although it feels frustrating with Dorik at times, I hope he keeps getting through. Surely his confidence will grow as he gets more faith in himself and what he can acheive, and doesn't stress out so much.

The sad thing is that theres thousands of kids lost out there in greater Australia and what chance are any of them going to have in their futures.

I know it's easy to think this way, but remember that before this show, all of the kids involved thought the same thing, and look at them now.

This may be the push that more people need to start helping out our organisations here in Australia to lessen the number of street kids/addicts in a positive way or at least a very good start.

If nothing else, hopefully this show will change a lot of people's stereotype of the homeless/addicts.

After recently hanging out in the city with my 19 year old nephew & he's pointing out people he knows with various drug problems, from cannabis to smoking heroin, I'm starting to think there is no stereotype anymore
