This was a heated topic of discussion in a winery restaurant during the week...
My sister works in a pharmacy & my significant other is a pharmacist, both of them regularly see methadone users. I was pointing out that I really like this young lass, because at first I thought she would be easy to discount as the first casualty. But she is exactly the opposite. She is showing up 20 minutes early for each class. Actually showing up for every class. Learning. Not being disrespectful. Attending her narcotics anonymous meetings. I am absolutely 100% hopeful the she makes it. You can tell she knows this is the best chance that she will ever have to sort her life out & she is literally taking it by the scruff of the neck. I admire her.

Because, unfortunately, they have to put up with the miscreants & people with afflictions from society that have no inclination towards cleaning up their act.
People that score their 'fit kits' from them at their various pharmacies & shoot up, then leave the used syringes, in the preschool playgrounds
Both of them have little faith... they have just been burned too many times

I told you all that my girl Katherine was a serious contender! Notice in last night's episode that she was told the only reason she wasn't going to the UK was on medical grounds.
so happy for her

Yeah, she has done amazingly well Just shows that you can change your life if you are determined enough and have the right support. |

Yes me too. I was wondering at first why they hadn't chosen her to go, but of course it makes sense that she couldn't go right now. |

I'm hooked on this. Its hard not to feel for most of these kids and although it feels frustrating with Dorik at times, I hope he keeps getting through. Surely his confidence will grow as he gets more faith in himself and what he can acheive, and doesn't stress out so much.
The sad thing is that theres thousands of kids lost out there in greater Australia and what chance are any of them going to have in their futures. |

I know it's easy to think this way, but remember that before this show, all of the kids involved thought the same thing, and look at them now. This may be the push that more people need to start helping out our organisations here in Australia to lessen the number of street kids/addicts in a positive way or at least a very good start. If nothing else, hopefully this show will change a lot of people's stereotype of the homeless/addicts. |

After recently hanging out in the city with my 19 year old nephew & he's pointing out people he knows with various drug problems, from cannabis to smoking heroin, I'm starting to think there is no stereotype anymore |
