tomma_pers still brings up a good point in the thread, and one that the two of you find more conveniant not to recognise, and it does sound whimpy the way it's stated, but:
Quoted Text
celebrities are people too
And what that is meant to boil down to is that they should be respected the same way anyone else would be.
The fact that the site is entertainment based and that there is a forum for discussing celebrities doesn't make it good to do so and the depth that it's done is pretty bad.
People roll off their tongues things like "They chose to be a celebrity" "It's what they wanted" "It comes with the territory" and I'm guilty of bashing Tom Cruise on a forum I visit occasionally but someone came along and pointed out that the guy had done a handful of things in a relatively short period of time and that Scientology isn't really immensly weird when put against most major religions and shame on us because the guy has family that most of us never heard of who have to put up with us in addition to media.
I hated that guy for speaking the truth.
I think I've already pointed out that most people wouldn't have a clue up until less than 10 years ago, what sort of crap celebrities put up with, and that's the plain truth that I think we can agree on. I've also put out there that many people if not most get involved at an age that they aren't capable of understanding what it means to be mobbed by cameramen. It would sound pretty glamourous to a kid I think actually. I don't think there's many 8 or 12 year olds out there with adequate forethought of thinking what a pain in the arse it would be to walk 30 feet to their car, smiling and maintaining bullshit mojo for 20 cameramen when the reality was that they had just gotten into a huge fight with your spouse 10 seconds earlier.
Let me back up, to address some quotes above. First I'll say that my previous comments in the topics you participated in, Suzi, were indeed just a reaction of being annoyed. The one in lurveit's thread about being obsessed was somewhat reactionary to being annoyed but not very much and it was very much geared at hopefully getting her to realise that she was indeed obsessed and if you're thinking that someone might be going to the extreme of putting those purple letters in, it's a good thing to ask. I'm glad I asked.
Screw this, I'll get straight to the points because I can't keep my mind on it.
One is, well it's not a point to be made but something that I wanted to include incidental, that the other thread is entitled "Brit... at it again". I think that the conflict of two threads set aside, it's fair to have this thread especailly with the reasoning that it was put up with being of differant substance than the other one. The other one is also opinionated by title and although you see this thread as silly, other people see the other thread as silly.
The best thing I think would be to merge and rename them somehow but probably it couldn't be done without pissing off one or both of the authors.
I forgot what I was typing for. I had an actual additional point. I'm sure of it

Well I can't remember. What a waste of time it was anyway. I'll just say that people judge very harshly about the intent people have when they fall into being worshiped as celebrities... what they expect about it, that they have realistic expectations, and you make assumptions that a whole lifestyle is easy to kiss goodbye and turn around on and that if people don't then it's your right to continue on about them. More accurately, the way I see it and as has been pointed out more thoroughly by tomma_pers is that the fact that someone is a celebrity may give you the legal right to be abusive, but it doesn't give you the moral right, don't delude yourself on that point.
I knew a guy who did commercials as a kid. I knew a lot of people who did. Anyhow, this guy, we used to joke about him becoming a big star. It was fun to think about and he thought it was funny too. He turned out to be a big star within a couple years. I know that he couldn't have imagined how it would impact him and it penetrates much further than the media. Today he's in a wheelchair and eats through a tube... do you see what you people did! L0L just kidding, he's fine. The last time I saw him, he was failing miserably in a TV interview, the kind that you feel embarrased for the person in question. Before that I saw him picking up stuff from the public High School probably to graduate, and he looked like he had been plucked by aliens and was experiencing major culture shock from being back on Earth. I think if I had said "Hi" that it would have scared him. That wasn't really part of our notion of what being a big star was all about but it's what he was able to handle of the world at age 18 after being stalked, lied to, manipulatd and so on... back when magazines and newspapers were all there really was, before the internet and fools like us wasting our time on it.
What happens when Britney Spears signs up to be a member of the forum. Do the threads get locked? Does she get to take our pictures and edit comments into them?
