Come on BM don't exaggerate. The guy is in prison for the rest of his days. Yes he committed the most heinous of crimes but that doesn't mean he shouldn't have a couple of things to make the time more bearable. What is the problem with him having Coffee, TV and Toasted sandwiches? We might be surprised if we knew what other prisoners privileges are. Wonder what people like Charles Manson in the US prison system get.
Milat's privileges suspended after outcry
Wednesday, 21 June 2006. 10:15 (AEDT)
The New South Wales Government says privileges awarded to the serial killer, Ivan Milat, have been suspended because of concerns raised by his victims' families.
The Minister for Corrective Services, Tony Kelly, says
Milat is a model prisoner and was rewarded with a toasted sandwich maker and a television set.Mr Kelly says those items have now been taken away.
The Corrective Services Commissioner will review the system of rewards and penalties in jails.
Mr Kelly says the jail system works to help control the thousands of prisoners.
"We are concerned with the views of the victims, the families of the victims and his privileges will be suspended and a review will be done of those privileges by the Commissioner," he said.
"I would emphasise however that it's not a holiday camp and Ivan Milat will be leaving prison in a box."
Milat is being held at the supermax prison in Goulburn.

People 'losing the plot' over Milat privileges
Wednesday, 21 June 2006. 11:29 (AEDT)
A support group for victims of homicide says some people are losing the plot by focusing on serial killer Ivan Milat getting special privileges in jail.
Milat is in the supermax section of Goulburn jail, serving a life sentence for killing seven backpackers whose bodies were found in the Belanglo State Forest outside Sydney.
He had been given a toasted sandwich maker and a television set as a reward for being a model prisoner.
However, the privileges have been withdrawn after public outcry and are subject to a review by the Corrective Services Commissioner.
Ken Marslew, from the group 'Enough is Enough', says the New South Wales Government should be focussing on providing more support for the victims of crime.
"The fact that he's got a TV set doesn't initially worry me," he said.
"I think that we should be focussing more on helping the victims of this bloke's crimes rather than looking at treating him with absolute and utter disgust, which he deserves to be treated with anyway.
"But I think we're losing the plot here ... if we treat people like animals, they're going to act like animals."New South Wales Premier Morris Iemma says it is appropriate the Corrective Services Commissioner review the special privileges.
"One thing they're not doing, they're not laying under a palm tree out there at the supermax," he said.
"It is high security and this is simply a case of we owe it to the victims to have this matter examined."

A toasted-sandwich maker and television were taken away from the prisoner after the NSW Opposition and Government expressed concern about the privileges.
Milat was put on suicide watch after the removal of the items from his cell.
Some relatives of victims and the Opposition had complained, and Premier Morris Iemma said he was disturbed about Milat being given the television and sandwich maker.
Milat abducted and murdered seven backpackers, between 1992 and 1993.
Clinical psychologist Anne Young reviewed Milat's situation and recommended to the acting commissioner that the items be returned.
The privileges are part of the punishment and reward system used with the 34 prisoners in the High Risk Management Unit at Goulburn Supermax jail.
