Devman says its OK to set up a thread just for this topic, since its so hot! http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=65963Alleged sex assault in Big Brother house Sunday Jul 2 10:18 AEST 'Big Brother' host Gretel Killen with housemate 'John', who is one of the two contestants that have been removed from the house. (AAP) Two Big Brother housemates have been removed from the set of the reality TV show after an alleged incident of sexual assault of a female contestant. Security guards on Saturday escorted "Ashley", a pseudonym for 20-year-old Michael Cox of Perth, and 21-year-old "John", whose real name is Michael Bric, of Melbourne, from the house. The pair was told to leave the Gold Coast set, at Dreamworld, after an alleged incident at 4am (AEST) on Saturday, Network Ten said in a statement. Producers Endemol Southern Star refused to say what the incident was, although a statement on Big Brother's official website said the pair were forced to leave the house after a "breach of the rules". advertisement Pictures circulating on the internet appear to show two men sexually assaulting a female housemate, understood to be 22-year-old student "Camilla", of Victoria. One of the pictures, on a US website, appears to show housemate Mr Bric lying next to the woman with his arm over her. A second photo appears to show a male housemate topless and kneeling on the bed with his crotch in her face. His back is to the camera, but his hand is positioned at the front of his pants at his crotch. In a joint statement made shortly after they were escorted from the house, the pair said: "We had a great time in the house. It is unfortunate it had to end this way, but Big Brother has rules and regulations and we broke them. "We are all very close in the house and we would never do anything to offend our fellow housemates." But while discussion of the incident has been banned on the official Big Brother website, at an unofficial site, people were scathing. One person who posted to the unofficial site said the incident allegedly occurred when Mr Cox slapped the female on the face with his penis, a practice described on the site as "turkey-slapping". "One guy holding a girl down while the other slaps her in the face with his d**k is not offensive?" said one poster. "Geez this show is sick. No wonder I am bored with it and never tune in," said another. A Gold Coast policeman said no charges had been laid over the alleged incident. He said he had spoken to security guards at the Big Brother set in the past and believed the latest incident was a publicity stunt. "If that is the future of our country, God help us," the officer said. The controversial program came under scrutiny last year when a male housemate rubbed himself on a female during a massage. A Southern Star spokesman said he had nothing to add to a brief official statement. He said he did not know when discussion forums would be allowed to return to the official Big Brother website. ©AAP 2006 Can't believe they are stopping ppltalking about this! |

Is it really so surprising that it's happened? I don't think so. It was just a matter of time. The whole concept of the inane drivel, that some call "entertainment", practically condones the above behaviour. |

I wonder what will happen tonight, will it still continue... or will it be axed?
I'll provide some pictures of the Daily Show/Eviction show in the Big Brother 2006 topic tonight. |

I am hoping the show will be axed right now, and tonights show will be the last ever! I am also hoping this whole thing wasn't just some huge publicity stunt to grab ratings. |

This shows how hard it is to believe what you are told by those involved in running something, especially on TV.
Before they knew pictures from the internet feed had made it out and were doing the circulation of the net, BB moles (BB staffers) had deliberately started a rumour that the reason the two were evicted was that they had attempted to scale a wall to get out.
Without the evidence of the internet feed, and with everyone else on the inside keeping very mum about what really happened, this attempted escape story is probably the one that would be doing the media rounds at the moment. |

Love your signature Boomslanger, heheh. On the news just now it was stated that Channel 10 have no plans to axe the show and that BB07 was/is on the drawing board. I truly believe they will be hard pressed to find decent sponsors, they had enough trouble this season getting decent sponsors. Also reported on 10 News, the film footage of the 'incident' has been handed over to the Queensland Police for them to investigate because Camilla was asked today if SHE wanted to press charges and she declined. |

So was that a channel 10 news report stating that channel 10 had no plans to axe the show and BB07 was in the works? |

Right on target! Sponsors are going to be in a dither over this one; since it's pretty much brain dead central they can rattle off any old junk in the add breaks and cash will be thrown over, yet parents who have any control over the teens will be concerned about them watching. I hear the family first party who help the liberals out with their senate majority ain't happy at all...... |

At the end of the eviction show, Gretel said that a new time for the interview would be announced tomorrow night, as they did not just want it to be some quick 5-minute thing. |

Then their's the hour it takes for the idiots to work out who they want booted, then their's the two hours on a sunday night for mutton to ask the booted "what their thoughts (implies they have more than one?? ) were on the whole experience". since I'm not a L&O fan I don't know if that still runs over every week like it did when NCIS had a Sunday slot. Then their's the "Special shows" that need to be screened so urgently that 10 have scraped new simpsons episodes several times We've just jumped up to a min 5.5 hours prime time if you're having difficulty. |

Stuff the family first party. Aqua why should parents be worried about teens watching the show? For one it wasn't even aired on TV, secondly only the really conventional stuffy fuddy duddy parents would care about teens watching BB, or the really religious type. |

lol! I hope Ten do screen the interview soon though. I'm interested to hear what John and Ashley say to defend themselves...because really they have nothing to say at all in defence. I can pretty much sum up the interview now... Gretel: So what do you have to say about the incident? John/Ash: Look Gretel, it was just a bit of fun. The media is blowing everything out of proportion. Gretel: Strong words boys, strong words. Now for our sponsors, remember to secure your rights to sponsor the show for next year. Disregard this incident, please... |

See the thing is as noted family first handed votes to the liberals which helped them gain a senate majority, therefore they can call in favours say for example from the communications minister (that's when helen isn't explosing children to profanity while demonstrating the virtues of porn filters) I think a lot of (responsible) parents would care about the kids watching BB, if not just for how moronic it is, it's pretty crude as well, as has been well and truely demonstrated! |

Yeah but aqua there's a difference between kids watching big brother and teenagers watching big brother. Maybe the little years 1's and 2's shouldn't watch it but I see nothing wrong with older people watching BB, for one the daily show isn't at all offensive and even if it was, like people don't swear etc in the real world anyway. Just because someone watches BB it doesn't mean their parents are responsible/ irresponsible, everyone should be able to make their own mind up. Once the kids hit say 10 I reckon BB is alright for them. The incident on BB was never aired, no kid has seen it. So what's the problem? Those stuffy polititions are just trying to appeal to the heavily religious don't watch anything above G rated parents and the over protective parents. pfft. |

hmmm you think one guy holding a girl down while another pulls the tackle out an smacks her on the head with it is OK. Teenagers wouldn't see that as being acceptable behaviour? Theirs a few guys in prison doing about 20 years because they didn't know where the line should be drawn on acceptable behavior with women.
The reason I don't like the show is because it's moronic smut. Number one concern of a big brother housemate "do I look good".
That's the end for me on this subject and I hope their's no BB07 |

Never aired??. . .that is where you are wrong. . . it was live 'streamed' into every '3' handset that was on at the time . .including young teens who were up watching the Soccer or Wimbeldon.
The ownership of the brand of phone (especially as a pre-paid) is open to all even 12-13 year olds . . so that kind of live vision is unacceptable.
I agree with aquamonkey on this. . if such c*** is allowed to be shown . .where do women get help when they are in court trying to convince a judge that they were raped/assaulted . . .when the criminal just points to a breakdown in TV standards to 'get off the hook'. |

I never said that what they did was ok, I think it is gross behavior and I'd hate for someone to do that to me. What I am saying is that teens have the right to watch BB if they want to, you may not like it but plenty of people find it interesting. Hey gizmo, I meant it was never aired on tv not the live cam ps nice avatar! |

How would you know their number 1 concern you don't even watch the show! I seriously doubt that's their number 1 concern unless you are saying " do i look good in the publics eye" And how is it smut? Ok adults only was a bit iffy but that's gone now, all the other shows are perfectly ok. |

I suspect Aqua is of a similar mind to me regarding BB. What I object to ( apart from the fact that it is inane and mindless drivel ) is the way that the show appears to promote a lack of basic, decent values. It flaunts inappropriate language/behaviour and lack of manners and seems to boast to its audience "it's okay to act like this". People, especially the young, are impressionalbe and what they see on TV is often reflected in their lives. BB isn't the only show that does this, of that I am sure, but it is the only show that is so blatantly "in ya face" about it. |

Australian PM demands Brother axe Australia's Prime Minister John Howard has called for the country's Big Brother to be axed after allegations of sexual assault on the reality TV show. Police investigated the programme over the weekend after a female contestant claimed a man held her down while another rubbed his crotch in her face. No charges were made, but two men have been thrown off the programme. "Here is a great opportunity for a bit of self-regulation and get this stupid programme off the air," said Mr Howard. "It is just a question of good taste," Howard told Australian radio as he condemned the show, broadcast by Network Ten. Federal Communications Minister Helen Coonan has referred the programme to Australia's television standards watchdog. But Network Ten issued a statement reaffirming its commitment to the programme. "Big Brother adheres to all broadcasting codes of practice and all relevant rules and regulations," it said. The programme's producers said two housemates had been pulled from the show because they broke the programme's rules of conduct. No footage of the incident which led to their eviction was shown on the programme, which is now in its sixth series in Australia. The format has been a hit for broadcasters around the world since it made its debut in the Netherlands in 1999. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/5139856.stm

Now for a reality check - no one can put Big Brother in his place
BIG BROTHER may have overstepped the line but the truth is a lack of up-to-date rules means little can be done to rein in the reality show.
The media watchdog, the Australian Communications and Media Authority, cannot get its teeth into the program, whose latest breach did not occur on TV but on live internet footage that went out at 4.17am last Saturday. The authority's powers are limited to TV and radio broadcasts and stored internet content.
The live web footage that streamed out of the Big Brother house featured the alleged sexual assault of a female housemate. Acting on it was not in the watchdog's bailiwick, nor anyone else's, a spokesman for the authority conceded yesterday. And even if it had been screened on TV, disciplining Network Ten would have been "a convoluted" process requiring viewer complaints and an investigation.
As the network stood by its program, the Prime Minister, John Howard, labelled the show stupid and called for Ten to axe it. "It is just a question of good taste and I don't like heavy-handed regulation," he said.
"The business community is always saying to me 'let us self-regulate'. Well here's a great opportunity for Channel Ten to do a bit of self-regulation and get this stupid program off the air."
Ten's head of production and development, Tim Clucas, | | |
