sport. not just live sport (because I do like -some- sport, just not the ones they show on tv), but sports shows. like the footy show. horrible. I'd sooner stab myself in the eye with a rusty spork and follow it up with an eyeball bleaching than watch that.

I'll give 6 million votes to sport and 7 billion to "Reality"

There is nothing "real" about "reality" TV, it's plain boring and inane.

As I expected reality is winning closely followed by sport.

Mine would have to be reality and some sport,ie any kind of racing, golf etc sends me into a coma.

I find that surprising becasue of the "success" of BB, then the continued success of shows like Survivor and The Amazing Race. The Apprentice -altho there has been a whole season of that in the US that we haven't even seen.
Maybe people are caught up in those other 'real' shows like Neighbours and Home & Away....
I can't believe ppl would rather watch a doco than a reality show, even BB! Get real. How many ppl have actually watched a documentary?

So pretty much every show on TV that requires some thinking is in the bin for you

Thrilling television I'm sure...

Anyways, this doesn't seem to be a good representation of how the entire society views these genres, since in Australia Reality TV is very popular.

hehehe im starting to like this thread. excellent comment.
and yea, since the ratings for reality shows are quite good, i think its pretty plain that more ppl are watching that than documentaries. Some of them are good i have to admit, but they aren't on free to air except during the day in non ratings - because nobody watches them!

! now thats what I like about this site - everyone has a good sense of humour.
I think we can't say we like only one genre - if you like reality, you might like Survivor but hate BB etc.
I'm sure there are shows from each genre that we like. I hate american sitcoms as a rule, but occasionally there is one I do like, like that'70's show, and then they bloody well take it off!!!

I put down Realty TV... but its hard 2 judge sport altogether in the one group... cause I love sport but there are sports that are really boring as hell like golf, racing & test cricket.... even though I love cricket test cricket sometimes can be really slow

Reality is my least favourite genre, especially since I don't think it is possible to make a show that is genuinely real. The presence of cameras, microphones and other people must make it impossible for people to behave in a natural manner.

I like some documentaries, but some are really boring.

Reality TV was a bit 'wide' for my choice.  I hate the 'good for you' type health shows. They turn into adverts for  some dodgy remedy or expensive alternative service that has dubious value.

I voted for sport. .  I almost never watch it . . and even this soccer thing is getting 'old' for me now and the games continue for another 3 weeks.!

Reality, current affairs and the "dramatized docos" that have been springing up lately (Bush Doctors, Saving Kids, Border Security etc).

Give me a good old scripted drama/comedy anyday.
