sport. not just live sport (because I do like -some- sport, just not the ones they show on tv), but sports shows. like the footy show. horrible. I'd sooner stab myself in the eye with a rusty spork and follow it up with an eyeball bleaching than watch that.

I'll give 6 million votes to sport and 7 billion to "Reality"

There is nothing "real" about "reality" TV, it's plain boring and inane.

As I expected reality is winning closely followed by sport.

Mine would have to be reality and some sport,ie any kind of racing, golf etc sends me into a coma.

I find that surprising becasue of the "success" of BB, then the continued success of shows like Survivor and The Amazing Race. The Apprentice -altho there has been a whole season of that in the US that we haven't even seen.
Maybe people are caught up in those other 'real' shows like Neighbours and Home & Away....
I can't believe ppl would rather watch a doco than a reality show, even BB! Get real. How many ppl have actually watched a documentary?

Well I for one watch a lot of docos.

There's a good one on the ABC on monday nights about the american revolution that is fascinating.

So pretty much every show on TV that requires some thinking is in the bin for you

Thrilling television I'm sure...

Anyways, this doesn't seem to be a good representation of how the entire society views these genres, since in Australia Reality TV is very popular.

hehehe im starting to like this thread. excellent comment.
and yea, since the ratings for reality shows are quite good, i think its pretty plain that more ppl are watching that than documentaries. Some of them are good i have to admit, but they aren't on free to air except during the day in non ratings - because nobody watches them!
