i think this chatting business gets too personal at times
first they want to know how old you are ,now they want to know what you do for a living.
well my answer on both counts is- thats for  me to know, and you to find out--keep it friendly chat.

If you don't want to participate in this thread then don't, but please... don't show your distaste for it by bagging it and maybe offending the author of the thread.

Me: I am a Carer.
My first job was in a trendy female clothing store
Second job was in a Newsagency
Third job was in a 'Jeanery' which was in a basement
Fourth job was with my Daddy in his Butcher's Shop (most enjoyable job along with the Newsagency)
Since I was 21-22 I have raised children and run a home. I have not worked outside the home for almost 30 years! Wow.

honestly, my intention wasnt to pry into anyone's private life. I just thought it would make interesting discussion about what people chose to do as their career, and if they enjoy it or not. i thought that it was just a harmless question, unless the question was asking the name and address of your workplace or school then i guess it would be too personal..

Since leaving school, did an apprenticeship as an Engineer, then stayed in the trade for 30 odd years.  Then in 1995 decided to quite the ratrace and started my own mobile Dog washing and grooming company.

Mmm guess you could say I'm in the photographic area.

done mini lab courses and worked in a few mini labs in the past

also studied photography at college and now do some freelance photography though I'm more interested in the art side rather then commercial.

now thinking about doing a course in web site development and maybe start designing web sites.

New member here from the UK.

I work as a Traffic & Travel Reporter on the radio.

Previous jobs have included Hotel Management, Call Centre Trainer and Airport Check-in Person.

I don't regard the question as remotely intrusive.

Some people are too sensitive by half!

No... professional pathways is where you learn about work and life. So stuff like how to find a job, developing skills, recognising and identifying your skills, sex ed (funnily enough lol), etc. Well that's what my school did, I don't know about Paula's.

Nursing for males as well as females is a wonderful profession IMHO. I never really had a career. I did over 4 years with my Daddy in his Butcher's shop, I worked in a newsagency when I left school at 15 and then a basement Jeanery after that. I left work in the Butcher's when I was 8 and a half months pregnant with my first child at age 21. I was a stay at home Mum after that. Until 2 years ago I was primarily a Mum, up until 7 years ago I was primarily a Mum and Wife. Now I am on a disability pension and have not done paid work for 31 and a half years. Not to say I have not worked Looking back on my life I would like to have done things differently. Established a career and kept in touch with my chosen profession. Maybe married and maybe had children. Definitely would have travelled. Professions I would like to have had are: Beauty therapist, Child Care, Tour Guide, Tour Bus operator/driver, Gift shop assitant/owner, Make-up artist, Forensic scientist/Detective, Tropical Resort Manager. Is there a theme there?

I am not living vicariously through my children, most especially my artist daughter but I would love for my fellow forum members to visit my daughter's My Space page because she does fabulous work. http://www.myspace.com/katzbodyart
She and a girlfriend have just started up a production company named 'Eva West' as well.
Kat's website is almost finished being created/constructed and I will post that address when it is up and running.
My daughter is by no means an amateur with her art so please, visit her My Space page

I've worked with children since I was 16/17. Then a child care assistant... then group leader for my pre-preps for a few years now having completed the 1st year of a teacher degree.

BUT NONE of this whilst running a household which includes 2 boys... very impressive ozdvl
