I watched The Mummy 3 on Friday (and not by choice). I thought it was absolute sh*t. While the special effects were executed well and all, and it had some cool action sequences, but it wasn't enough to mask some of the most POORLY written and acted dialogue I've ever heard in a movie. It was blatantly obvious that Maria Bello was NOT British (she sounded like an American putting on an accent), and don't get me started with the embarrassingly lame "one-liners" (e.g. "I hate mummies! They never play fair!" ).

LAME! LAME! LAME! Can't believe some schmuck actually got paid to write this piece of sh*t.

I'll give it 1 1/2 stars. 1 for the special effects, and a bonus 1/2 for that gorgeous "mature" Chinese lady.

I guess you can do worse than The Mummy, and I suppose there is a market for this kind of brain-dead popcorn flick, but it's just not for me.

I watched Never Been Kissed today. It was pretty good, even though it's one of those totally predictable movies, but it still managed to invoke tense-ness near the end =D The flashback scene when her prom date throws the paint on her was so sad, (easiest way to get to me, stories like that xD).. anyway, I rate it...

My housemates went to see 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button'. He went to sleep and she was bored to distraction. It was a late morning screening so it wasn't like they were tired. Overlong, stupid story she said.

I watched the 2 episode long pilot of Firefly and the first 2 or 3 episodes again.... for the 10th time at least.
Anyone who has not watched all the episodes (13 or 14 of them) of the series should do so immediately.

Edit:  Fark.... not the DVD thread, but the movie one... Fine! I also saw part of the movie Serenity again.  It kicks arse too.

^^^ the premise of the story is Benjamin (Brad Pitt) is born old and grows younger. Falls in love with Kate Winslet's character as their ages become close to each others and of course it's going to end in tears. Cry all the way through a 3 hour movie? OMG.

Quoted Text
"I was born under unusual circumstances." And so begins 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,' adapted from the 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards: a man, like any of us, who is unable to stop time. We follow his story, set in New Orleans from the end of World War I in 1918 to the 21st century, following his journey that is as unusual as any man's life can be.
