Highlander 2: The Quickening has got to be the worst film I've ever seen and possibly one of the worst films ever made. There was quite abit of controversy behind the making and the last director who took over the film (after many shifts during production) promised to finish it off under the condition that his name would not be credited on screen at all. The budget was blown halfway through production and the first director (after pleading with paramount for more money and then was denied) chucked a fit and in an attempt to ruin the promising franchise, changed the whole story from highlanders in Scotland to space Aliens from Planet frickin Zeist!. Paramount left him out to dry and eventualy placed a sucker in there to fix it up but in Paramounts infinant wisdom, only gave him a few weeks to do so, forcing him to leave the Space aliens from planet Zeist storyline in there to leave eventual viewers scratching thier heads as to WTF! happened since the first film and the days of ancient Scotland. The film was released in 1991 and was quickly forgotten. A few years ago the original director Russell Mulcahy released a directors cut of the film and removed all references to the planet zeist and instead confused fans even more with a "travellers from another time" twist to it. This film went from Highlanders to Space Aliens to Time travellers with a side story about the Ozone layer crumbling and a corporation trying to control the UV levels...trust me when I tell you that this movie is the definition of cheap and tacky...avoid this film at all costs.
The first one that pops into my mind is 'The Avengers'... mainly because I had such high hopes for it. You had Ralph Fiennes being suave in a pinstripe suit, Uma Thurman being slinky in a leather catsuit, and Sean Connery being evil in... well, a technicolor bear suit, okay, but you see what I'm getting at.. I thought it had real potential..
But Oh. I saw it in the cinema, and it's the first movie I ever seriously contemplated walking out of (and I've sat my way through many a bad movie before), just because I was so bored. It might have *looked* pretty here and there, but the whole movie was just... limp.
"Fry, this isn't TV, it's real life, can't you tell the difference?" "Sure, I just like TV better."
I knew I should have left after 5 minutes but I sat in the cinema and stuck them both out - both totally relied on CGI and not any form of story. Up unti this time Waterworld was the worst. But each to their own - I really liked O'Brother Where Art Thou.

So did our family. We also like/love ALL of Kevin Costner movies. The Postman comes to mind and it is one of my favourites.
sld444.... I actually OWN the movies you say are the worst you have ever seen. Love that kind of stuff. It's a good thing we are all different hey!
Dara... Myself and my two 'children' aged 21 and 29, all love 'Love Actually' ,one of our favourite movies of ALL TIME! My daughter and I each own a copy of the movie. She won hers at a Valentine's Day singles do.

I have just seen another worst movie, this time, I watched a bit of High School Musical !!
I think this movie was intentionally made for children or teens. Anyway what bothers me in this movie is the "miming" when in scenes, kids get up all together and sung suspiciously (reminds me of Milli Vanilli) !!
its not too bad norm hmm what else...................................................... o i forgot the name love actually sucks as well
I know you only watched 10 minutes or so of this movie Dara You really have to watch more than that. I don't think some of it was appropriate for someone your age though. It gets quite sexual and very graphic but very funny and tongue in cheek. It's one of my daughter's and son's and my favourite movies. I loved it so much I gave my ex-mother-in-law a copy for Christmas last year. She was horrified by the sex scenes and demanded my ex husband switch it off. It offended her sensibilities and I was terribly embarrased . Goodness knows what they did with the movie.
I was genuinely surprised with how much I enjoyed Love Actually, when Ten played it a couple of months ago. It was a very laid back, and enjoyable movie. However I couldn't stand Hugh Grant's part in the movie. His "acting" was horrible. I may consider buying it on DVD when its on special.
I agree that the sex and language in the movie is a little much for the tots, but as long as they watch it with their parents (or behind their backs ), I think they should be fine. Its not that "hardcore".
Another turkey of a film, Bloodrayne (supposedly based on a video game), this was just awful!! Why would the likes of Michael Madsen and Ben Kingsley appear in such rubbish- the money must of been good is all I can think.
Racing stripes, I could hardly wait for the movie to end so I could leave the cinema, urgh longest night of my life I think.
I adore Love Actually!! I saw Pink Panther, totally expected it to be rubbish but went as my kids wanted to see it, it was actually quite good.
Its funny how our perceptions of movies can be wrong, I remember going into watch Harry Potter in the cinema when it first came out, I really did not want to watch it and was preparing myself for two hours of sheer boredom but was surprised to find I actually enjoyed it. You never can tell.
I wanted to see pink panther! Yeah suzi, I have love actually might watch it one day. And you're right I only watched a bit, got as far as the man singing love is all around us. :S
Without a doubt the worst movie I ever saw was "Bad Boy Bubby". The closest I have ever coming to walking out of a cinema.
The worst movie I have ever seen on DVD would be a tie between "Dodgeball""Envy (the Jack Black and Ben Stiller one)"and the woefully bad "Dominoe (with Mickey Rourke)."
Such a shame about 'Dominoe' too because it is a true story. I agree it was woeful though. I enjoy true crime and read anything that John Douglas the FBI profiler that the FBI man in 'Silence of the Lambs' was modeled after. John Douglas wrote a book called 'Mindhunter' and under the impression a particular DVD movie was named after the book Mindhunter and the story would reflect that, I hired the movie. OMG it was THE worst movie I have ever seen. To call it Dreadful, Woeful, garbage is to speak too highly of it! Val Kilmer is in it (that should have given me a hint).
hehe I like Val Kilmer although your right the movie was lame. The films main problem is it requires too much suspension of disbelief much like the film Identity which in some ways reminded me of that movie. It was pretty obvious that they stunt casted Slater & Kilmer to promote the film aswell which was tacky. Maybe not the worst film I've ever seen but definitely 2 hrs of my life I'll never get back.
I heard Casino Royale was really good... and Craig is close to being the best Bond yet.
The movie was really really boring, went on far to long and has bond sitting around playing cards rather than beating the cr@p out of people. I don't go in for all the "closer to flemings bond" BS. Bond isn't meant to be a little bloke who winges about wearing a tux. The series weren't broke, Brosnan was a fantastic Bond who didn't get a good script during his time
"To the rational mind, nothing is inexplicable; only unexplained. " The Doctor
Hrmm...I still might see it...see what happens. BTW at IMDB I think its the highest rating Bond movie ever... dont know if that says much, but anyways..
I detest Bond movies, always have. Seen a couple... well probably five since the very first one with Sean Connery many moons ago. I did however think Roger moore was a very suave smooth cheeky Bond. I liked Pierce Brosnan and don't really know why they got rid of Pierce yet when he had a few more Bond movies in him, IMHO.
You have a point. I loved Clooney in ER but can't think of any movies he's done that I've actually enjoyed. The one he did with Michelle Pffifer (sp?) was ok though.
Not surprised. I doubt that anybody can keep a straight face watching Cruisey on the box anymore, apart from his robot gods, proudly manufactured by Sony.
Romeo and Juliet, the DiCaprio version. To date, this is the only movie i have ever walked out on. I asked for and got my money back too. I vowed never to see another DiCaprio movie again and i have kept that promise to myself

I've seen my share of horrible movies over the years. But, of late, it was something I got on DVD called "The Long Riders". It was so bad I can't even tell you who was in it. It was terrible!!!
Indeed, many people did. But i didn't get it. It was penned as being a modern day Romeo and Juliet, but i would have thought the dialogue would have been updated too. Anyway, that was years ago..........
I saw the 1968 version of Romeo and Juliet at the cinemas as an impressionable 13 years old and loved it. I dislike immensely the Baz Luhrmann film version of the classic love story. The only performance in that version I enjoyed was John Leguizamo's!
I absolutely hated Baz Luhrmann's version of Romeo + Juliet. The script just smacked of sloppily written dialogue. Obviously the writer was unable to modernize the script to a twentieth century context so instead they threw in a few modern colloquialisms into the original play. Pathetic. One of the most poorly written films in history IMO.
And I saw a bit of Rocky & Bullwinkle last night of TEN. And good GOD, it was awful. The voiceovers, the dialogue, everything about it was awful.
ok anything with Jim Carey I refuse to watch! he thinks he's funny but he's NOT! but the only movie that comes to mind that I really really didn't like was Independance Day
ok anything with Jim Carey I refuse to watch! he thinks he's funny but he's NOT!
Exactly why I hate comedians. There's this pretentiousness about them, and they "think" they're funny when they're really not. Most of them try WAY too hard to get a laugh from the audience.
I think Independence Day was the biggest let-down of all time. Not the worst movie ever, but certainly the most hyped movie of all time. (Although Star Wars Ep-1 wasn't far behind )
Well I love movies...but the only one I couldn't sit through (ever) was Epic Movie. The reason I stayed as long as I did was because I quizzed my friend on which movies they were slinging off at, but that too got boring, so we left.
GOODBYE fellow eBlah's .....it sure has been nice meeting yo'all here and I will miss everyone of you
Mission impossible 2 was a stinker but anything Michael Moore does would have to be my pick. When Trey parker and Matt Stone did a parody of him in Team America I think they hit the nail on the head.
I agree about Michael Moore. Fahrenheit 9/11 was a load of garbage, and I only saw it because I was on an excursion. I almost fell asleep due to boredom. I also almost fell asleep whilst watching Into the Blue, and I was forced to sit through that since I went to the cinemas with some of the guys at school. CRAP CRAP CRAP!!!
Recently I watched 'Pan's Labyrinth'. I chose it because it was touted as Fantasy. It was very hard to watch with only a minimal amount of CGI for the 'fantasy' parts pretty bad actually. One of the worst movies I have ever seen.
Any movie with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman in it. I don't mind either of them on thier own, but together they are the pits. I especially hated Eyes Wide Shut, I walked out after 20 minutes.

I loved that movie, as I like most of Shakespeare's plays/movies and especially different interpretation's of them. Wonder if you have stuck to your 'vow'!!! You will miss a good movie called Blood Diamond.

The worst movie ive seen is 'Gigli' starring Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck. It had like no plot and the script was crap.
It received 6 Razzie awards in 2003 for Worst Picture, Worst Actor, Worst Actress, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Screen Couple. And a year later, the film won a seventh Razzie for "Worst Comedy of our first 25 Years...
well, there's quite a range of 'worst' movies i can think of. actually the list of really good movies is comparatively small. there's an alternative film and music festival launched by a film director from former yugoslavia, emir kusturica, best known as the fellini from the balkans. the special concept of this festival is btw. bringing together important film directors like e.g. jim jarmush, nikita michailkov, etc. etc. with young still unknown talents. a wide range of s.c. author's films is shown and discussed at this festival in a place where professional communication and exchange is still possible. kusturica built a little village in the mountains for this purpose. the village is inspired by the production design from one of his films called "life is a miracle'.
the very first edition of this film and music festival was opened with a surprising ritual which symolises the device of the festival which is advancing real cinematographic art. have a look & have fun (english subs):
