I've met a few from where I chat and those I haven't, I've "known" for 10 or more years.

I agree, I have kept in contact with a few from over 10 years ago, as I said, most from Wordox but a couple I met on ICQ when that was all the rage, actually one lady in Victoria I still chat on ICQ.
