Actor Tim Campbell opens up about his sexuality

CHANNEL 7 star Tim Campbell has publicly come out to announce he is gay.

The former Home and Away actor exclusively told The Advertiser about his sexuality, following rumours he was dating former Australian Idol contestant Anthony Callea. Tim reckons both he and Anthony have each broken up with their partners and for now, are just friends.

"(Anthony and I) are mates - he's had his rough trot, I'm going through a rough trot and I'm really concerned for my (ex) partner," Tim says.

"Part of me will probably always love him because 11 years is a lot to share with each other."

Tim and Anthony became friends after performing together in the musical Rent. It's just one string in the multi-talented actor's bow - he is now in rehearsals to play Johnny O'Keefe in the musical Shout, he has hosted National Bingo Night, and following a successful stint on Dancing with the Stars, is a hot tip to replace Daryl Somers as its host next year.

But more than anything, Tim is hopeful his sexuality won't overshadow his work.

"There's nothing in the way of being ashamed about this (but) the label thing worries me a bit because I don't want my work to be affected," he says.

"If every time I'm written about now it's as 'the gay actor' it would bore the hell out of me.

"Coming out at 20 changed me a bit, but at 32, I'm pretty comfortable with who I am and what I'm doing."

Well that was a shock. Before reading this I didnt have any idea nore any suspicions he might be gay. Good on him for coming though, I dont think he will be viewed much differently. Interesting he might be host of DWTS, he's definitely better than old Darryl.

OMG when is this show comming back ? Neighbours is back on the 14th, but no word yet on H & A , I mean the "Milco" in the sand will be washed away, with the high tides we have been having latley, so how will Sally know its there ?

not much really happened tonight for the 1st episode for 2008 !!!!!  I think they could have done more with the stalker story line but it was all over in 5 minutes, and the reason a ??? brain tumor ???   !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Milco story is good ok though

Well, I have resorted to watching Home and Away because my set top box cannot get Channel 9 and I find they spoil the entire show with their promos. We know thingy is HIV positive and Miles tells whatshername they know each other and whose-E-bob is interested in whatsherface and the stalker/priest/minister escapes the hospital! What is the point of watching?

Yeah, that's what I thought!

but if you recall we did say this last year when it ended for the christmas break, just how many long lost rellies can one small seaside town have   but its starting to heat up , IM hooked again (not that I ever was )

oh no poor Sally, is she hanging by a thread, again ! just how many close calls can one have ?   I hope that this is not the way they write her out, I was hoping for a nice getaway .

I doubt she will leave this way. I remember on the last day of shooting sunrrise did an interview and she was standing in her house with it all packed up like she was moving.
