I finally saw this movie the other night mainly because I have always been a huge Johnny Cash fan. Well actually my parents were the fans and they have absolutely EVERY LP this man ever made! I can remember every Sunday morning waking up to Johnny Cash LPs and my mum and dad singing the songs lol. So yeah its a precious memory for me
Having said that however, I was kind of disappointed with the movie mainly because it seemed to jump ahead too much so you felt there were huge chunks missing out of JC's life. The movie is basically more the love story between JC and June Carter more than the life of the Man in Black and I would really have loved to have had more of his music in it. But I must say that Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon were brilliant in the roles and they also supposedly sang most of the lyrics themselves which surprised because they sounded so like the real people
My hubby who is also a JC fan was shocked because he always thought of Johnny Cash as someone who was religious and pure and it horrified him to learn that JC was quite the lad and not quite the saint most people would believe him to be. It was a good movie but I honestly think that unless you are a fan, this movie is not for you.
Yesterday while on the stairs, I saw a Man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today...I wish that He would go away!!
