Actor-turned-rapper Joaquin Phoenix reportedly staged a fight during a recent gig in Florida - as part of an ongoing career change prank.
The star - who claims to have quit acting to make hip-hop music - was playing a gig at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel in Miami, Florida on Wednesday night when the incident occurred.
Phoenix ended the concert early when a man began jeering from the crowd - the star jumped down to confront the heckler and had to be restrained by security guards.
But New York Post gossip column PageSix claims the brawl was premeditated, with Phoenix planning the incident with the unnamed audience member and his brother-in-law, Casey Affleck, who was filming the event for a documentary.
A source tells the publication, "(It was) completely staged. It was a fake fight. Nobody threw a punch. They were just holding onto each other."
Phoenix has previously been accused of constructing his hip-hop career as an "art project" prank. The claims have been denied by the actor's representatives.
Gwyneth Paltrow has cast doubt over her Two Lovers co-star Joaquin Phoenix's new 'music career' admitting she suspects it's a hoax.
The Gladiator star recently revealed he had quit acting to become a rapper.
He has since made a string of bizarre public appearances, including two nightclub performances, the last of which ended with an angry confrontation with a heckler, in Miami, Florida on Wednesday.
Sceptics have suggested Phoenix's hip hop endeavours are being staged as part of a prank project - and Paltrow admits she's not convinced by his claims.
The actress tells MTV, "I'm not a hundred percent sure that that's really going to be the case. I think that there might be some other explanation or something going on. I'm not quite sure what, but I can't believe that he's really going to quit forever to become a rapper. It seems odd."

How funny is it when Julia Roberts makes an appearance? With David reminiscing about when he " was thinking about taking a run at it " & mid sentence, her ability to make him to freeze by uttering," I love you"
They obviously have such chemistry

Obviously not so difficult perhaps as people make her out to be. I think she gave just as much as Dave was throwing at her without getting snotty or agro or upset.

Late-night U.S. chat show host David Letterman has secretly wed his longtime girlfriend Regina Lasko, according to news reports.
The Late Show host and Lasko exchanged vows last week, according to UsMagazine.com. The pair had been dating since 2001, and Lasko gave birth to their first child, Harry, in 2003.
Letterman, who was previously married to his college sweetheart, Michelle Cook, fell in love with Lasko while she worked as his assistant.
The couple reportedly wed at the TV star's Montana ranch in September, 2003, but those rumours proved to be untrue.
Letterman Confirms Wedding Report On His Show 23 March 2009 6:35 PM, PDT
Beloved U.S. TV host David Letterman has confirmed reports he wed longtime girlfriend Regina Lasko, while congratulating pal Bruce Willis on his weekend marriage on his hit show.
Letterman exchanged vows with the mother of his son, Harry, in a courthouse ceremony near their ranch home in Montana on Thursday, according to America's Us Weekly magazine.
And, according to fans, who were among the audience for the taping of Monday night's The Late Show with David Letterman, the host confirmed the news live.
During the show, which will air in America later tonight, Letterman apparently announced, "I hear Bruce Willis got married this weekend. There's another wedding I'd like to mention. We got married in Montana. Went to the Justice of the Peace."
Letterman also told fans the truck he, his wife and their five-year-old chose to get them to the wedding destination got stuck in the mud en route to the courthouse.
He explained he had to leave his stranded family with the vehicle and return to their house to pick up a car. He joked that he feared he would be late for his own wedding.
He told the audience, "We think, 'Well, somebody'll come... Nobody comes along. It's Thursday afternoon, who's coming along? Zorro?
"So I get out of the truck and I walk two miles back to the house... and the whole way, I'm thinking, 'See, smart a**, see, see, you try to get married, this is what happens.'"
Two Lovers director James Gray has hit out at the film's star Joaquin Phoenix - insisting the actor is "making a fool of himself" by launching a rap career.
Phoenix recently announced he has quit acting in order to become a hip-hop-star and has since made a string of bizarre public appearances.
Last month the actor sported a scraggly beard, hid behind sunglasses, chewed gum and gave brief answers as he promoted Two Lovers on Late Show With David Letterman.
And Gray is furious with Phoenix for failing to cooperate with the TV host - because his strange actions drew public attention away from the film.
He says, "It's like, Letterman was trying to get the movie out there, but the only thing that's out there now is a crazy person with a beard making a fool of himself!"
Internet gossips have speculated that Phoenix's turn as a rapper is a hoax, and the rumours were fuelled when it was revealed the star's brother-in-law, Casey Affleck, is filming his musical efforts for a documentary.
But Gray fears the Oscar nominee is taking his new project seriously.
He adds, "I’ve seen him in his house, and he has his own recording studio that he built right there. So if this is a hoax, then it’s the most elaborate thing that I have ever seen.
"If it is shown to be a hoax, then that's great, because Joaquin will come back to acting. And he is something special. But if it isn't, you know, I think he needs, well, help."
