To go back to the origin of this post which was about religion, good and bad, not a debate between creation and evolution.

Mankind uses religion as justification for inexcusable acts

Maybe you shouldn't . . . your opinions have been largely articulated . . you don't believe in any creator . . nor religion as such . . and seeing this thread is about 'Good & Bad Religion' your input can go no further in this thread. . you need to move to the Science room and chat with likeminded people there.

Are you saying I can no longer contribute to this thread, on topic, about the pros and cons of religion (any religion)?

Is this true mods?

Sorry Gizmo I have tended to drift into science (even in relation to religion) so will now keep on topic and drop the science side (except things like Scientology and Itelligent Design as these are directly religious teachings attempting to be legitimised as real science).

As to things like science not being faith, taboo, will raise the point no longer.

I haven't said I didn't believe in a creator (in fact saying that something started it all). I said I was more agnostic not athiest. I just believe that after the whole shebang started, God(s)/Creator(s) have had nothing more to do with the universe, it is a runaway train doing its own thing by the laws first set down by the creator or whatver started it. Along with that I believe that these laws are not concrete and given the resources and power a very clever race like mankind can change or manipulate them (as is being proven by genetics).

And who are you to say who can and cannot post in a thread? Last time I checked you were not a Moderator. The point of these forums is to 'discuss' things and to hear other people's points of view, not to be close minded and only accept views similar to your own. Please refrain from such rudeness in future.

From what I gather Gizmo you raised the topic of creationism in the following posts on July 29th:

the Big Bang is only a theory . . and Gods 'creative days' were thousands of years long so the literal 7 days of 24 hrs is ridiculous to believe in.  Gods take on time is very different to ours. The term day in the Bible denotes a scheduled time frame. . not a literal day.

Actually it is quite easy to prove God exists. . just look around at the fantastic design in everything from the atom . . to the solar system.  It all comes together in a display of intricate design . . and that shows there is a 'designer'.

Maybe you need to read more carefully . .and it does not take a moderator to see when a reply has gone 'off topic'.

Those were 'replies' to B_s and A-O-L comments. . not initiated by me. . just a reply to their comments and belief in evolution is a 'faith' by many . .now the conversation has run its course..

If I enter the "House' thread and start rattling on about BB. . somebody will tell me to go to the correct thread. . that is all I was doing here. . if B_S wants to talk evolution , he can do it in another place. .  this is a thread to talk about 'Religion:good and bad'

Intesting piece on the ABC about a huge Evangelical religious meeting in the US just recently. They believe that the current conflict in the M.E. is the sign of the second coming of Christ and that when Jesus does come he will convert all the Jews to Christians.

There were around 3000 people there and some extremely powerful people at the meeting, including many Rupublicans.

The reporter asked the head of a Jewish church about this and the supposed second coming of Christ to convert all Jews, and he said they will wait until Jesus comes as a man (meaning Jew).

Anyway to all those who are religious, no matter what flavour, this is a very good site that was pointed out to me in another religious debate in another forum: http://www.religioustolerance.org/

Really it is worth the visit. For us athiests and agnostics, well its worth the read to see how each religion believes absolutely they are the one true blessed of God and the need for organisations like this to bring them together. Which makes religion all the more confusing and just who is the real God if it exists and is overseeing things?

Jewish people would have an issue with 'the second coming' . .as they don't think the first has happened yet.
They respect Jesus as a prophet. . but according to their tradition. . their 'saviour' has not come yet for the first time.

It is interesting how evangelicals have shmoozed with politicians at a rally to advertise the 'second coming' . . prophecy tells us that Christ would begin his 'Rule' while his 'enemies' were still in power here on Earth.
Jesus would be appalled by the goings on in the middle east right now. . and Jews are not acting in a way that shows they have anybodies blessing. . let alone a creator they believe in.

Does that mean that you don't think he would be appalled at the goings on in the rest of the world?

Do you really believe that the Jews deserve to be destroyed by Hezbollah, which is their stated aim? Also, didn't the Jews receive God's blessing when they defended themselves?

I don't like civilians being killed, but put the blame back where it belongs, on the terrorists who are using the urban areas as bases to send rockets into Israel, and then being so uncaring of their own people that they don't let aid in until after they have removed the proof of their operation.

. .   . .   . .

I goes without saying that EVERYONE is appalled by the troubles in the entire world right now. . (can't anybody read) ??
The mention of the Jews suffering now was raised further up . . that is all . .    . . they claim to be Gods chosen people. . so if that is the case. . why are they in such a pickle??

Hezbollah is a criminal organisation that needs wiping out . . but the Jews only got Gods blessing throughout history when the worshipped properly. They often strayed into pagan worship and actions. . at those times God himself punished them . . Babylon 607 BCE . .  Jerusalem 70CE . . and other times.

Before you accuse. . have an accurate read of the context of my post. . and how it relates to the above posts. . .and relax!!

This is the relgious thread but I will say get your facts right before making accusations. This response by Israel was a massive overreaction to the kidnapping and killing of their soldiers especially since Israel has kidnapped thousands and holds them in prisons for years with no charges or trials.

The human rights watch has documented hundreds of cases of Israel deliberatley targetting civilians including dropping leaflets telling Lebanese to leave and then attacking the convoys who were flying white flags.

I will continue this in the appropriate thread, including giving you the link to the IDF propaganda that has been proven a lie, which says Hizbollah kept people from leaving, set up road blocks to keep them in towns and shot any that attempted to escape, all Israeli lies.

TIT for TAT is all I see in this thread and its getting quiet frankly annoying.

Yes I know I don't have to read it but we are all getting off thread here.

People have Faith
People believe In Science
People Believe in evolution
People believe in the big bang

We all have a right to express our thoughts and opinions  and they are just that there is no right and no wrong is each other beliefs.

NOONE and I do mean that, has the right to condem what someone else believes in or doesn't weather its based on evidence or theology!

If you don't like something or insome way it offends you learn constant some need to learn to bite thier toungue - maybe I do too in posting this but hey, Its my thoughts and I have a right to express them!
