Hi eBlaher's,

Recently we have had alot of new users (welcome all!), and some of those users may not be aware of some of the older existing topics on eBlah! Hence, we've seen quite alot of repeated topics posted by new users.

If you cannot immediately find an appropriate topic to place your post, please do a complete search of the board before posting a brand new topic. The search function can be found by clicking on the search button up the top ^ or by going to:

http://www.ebroadcast.com.au/eblah/b-tv/v-search/

Thanks for your time.

I am forever asking people not to start threads on existing topics. This Board (TV Talk) is the worst. Recently I locked a thread because it already existed in a broader form. The author of the thread was quite annoyed and made it known on the open forum that they were. I unlocked the thread because of this pressure BUT will not ever do that again. If unsure on whether a thread may be out of line please PM one of the moderators (including myself) or even Admin. first and ask. If a Moderator or Admin. locks a thread please do not have a gripe on the open forum. PM one of the Admin. staff, including Devman, or the Moderators and say what you have to say maturely and clearly. If one more CSI thread appears I will lock it without notice. The following is a quote from the Administrator on too many threads being created on the same subject,  that can be found here:
http://www.ebroadcast.com.au/eblah/b-suggestion/m-1149150414/s-new/

"Thanks to our terrific moderating team, this issue is slowly disappearing.

There are still users, many long term, who are not searching before posting new topics, or who just wish to have their post seen by more people. Hello - this will not work and will just end up having you banned from the site."
Cheers all, Suzi

Well sometimes that doesn't work, like I searched for the 'house' topic and it didn't work, pages and pages of big brother posts came up because of 'HOUSEmates'
And I Searched dr house and chase etc but I can't find it.
You have to search so many pages to find it, I gave up eventually :S

Dara has a point.  Something similar happened to me and rather than risk posting a doubled up topic, I simply didn't bother to post at all.

Yeah! Lol. Suzi found it for me (), otherwise I wouldn't have bothered. I tried doing the thing that you can do on google like type "house -mates" but it didn't work.

If the search doesn't work then do a manual search as I sometimes do. Some of the topics that are reposted are ridiculous as the author should already have an idea of whether or not it already exists.

An easy way to check if there is an existing thread is to select the "all" feature

then search via your browser (use CTRL and F  or select Find from the Edit option in your browsers menu)

then type in the term you are looking for
e.g CTRL F then type the term bones
Note: depending on your browser you will get different methods for finding

Find in mozilla/firefox

Find in IE

then hopefully there will be no more double posts!

I had put this in the sticky topic but I dont know if it was obvious in there?
Anyway, now in its own topic for all to enjoy
(Maybe it could be made a sticky topic?)

Noting the trouble some people have had with the search feature (myself included) there is an easy way to check if there is an existing thread.

First, select the "all" feature

then search via your browser (use CTRL and F keys  or select Find from the Edit option in your browsers menu)

then type in the term you are looking for
e.g CTRL F then type the term bones
Note: depending on your browser you will get different methods for finding

Find in mozilla/firefox

Find in IE

then hopefully there will be no more double posts!

Astrogirl... no-one should ever jump on you for starting a thread that already exists except for me, Suzi the double thread Nazi. No seriously, I would not jump on you and it is so easy for one of us who have the 'power' to merge a newer thread with an older pre-existing one. If anyone says anything in a nasty way to you regarding anything on the boards, do not hesitate to contact either Administrator, Devman, Lawnbowler, Normangerman or myself. Nastiness and personal attacks (among other things) will not be tolerated on this friendly, accepting, tolerant forum.

yeah, but if you select all then it lists all the topics for that sub-forum, rather than just the 1 page worth you normally get

For Internet Explorer 7, hit Alt on your keyboard, and then go to Edit->Find in this page, or click the drop-down next to the search button and select that option.
