I'm loving Comedy Classics on seven at the moment..

Nice to see such timeless british sitcoms find a good audience even if it is saturday night.

Some Mothers Do 'Ave Em is easily the highlight..lol tonight when Frank single handedly destroys an experimental house.

Wasn't Michael Crawford such a comedic Genius?! A man of many talents.
I have read his book and watched all his 'Some Mother's do 'ave 'em' episodes, his interviews with Michael Parkinson and Ray Martin and love his singing voice. A lovely lovely man. He did all the stunts himself and broke many bones in the process. The episode where he is on roller skates is roflol worthy. They were fabulous shows all of the old english comedy shows. So so very clever.

He is a comedic genius without doubt. Was reading an episode guide last night and noticed he was influenced by Laurel & Hardy who were his comedy heroes. Agree as well about him being a nice guy,saw a few of his interviews with Ray Martin and he always came across as a very down to earth likeable guy. Also read on the episode guide about the stunts and apparently the media made a big fuss about them at the time as they were considered too dangerous.

What do you think? Will Seven lead the ratings season in 2007?
They have the top 4 new US programmes and all of their hits will be returning. Nine and Ten don't have the rights to any new US shows that are real hits. There's always new US midseason shows, but Seven looks like it could take out the 2007 season, they might even take out 2006.

This is a non network biased discussion.

I REALLY wan't to see nine not be "still the one". I don't understand how they are winning this year given how many blunders they've had + they haven't had any big US hits for some time + all the bad publicity this year

For starters this year NINE have the year won. They are only ahead by a little but too much for SEVEN to make up in a few weeks.

NINE are 'still the one' yet again and I'm happy. Next year who knows,SEVEN had a great start this year when shows like Desperate Housewives,Lost etc were rating 2 million +. NINE still caught up and passed them.

Now that those shows are not close to those earlier numbers they won't have the head start they had this year so if I had to make a guess I'd say NINE will win 2007 fairly easily.

And as for the US shows something that rates well there does not neccessarily rate well here. There are many shows that have been huge in the states but have not worked here. Early in the year people were talking up 7s new shows The Unit,Criminal Minds & Bones. Of those the best by far is Criminal Minds which rates around the 1.2 million mark on a good night. The Unit is a flop and Bones has only recently scraped above the million mark.

In summary NINE still the one in 2007!

I have never been a fan of I like 7 or 9 or 10 it's been more about the shows.

HOWEVER, I found myself watching a LOT more 7 shows this year due to the fact that 7 do not seem to do the lets stretch the show our over a whole year thing, eg

L & O:Criminal Intent
NCIS
CSIs (various)
etc

I see that 10 are looking for "broader" ratings and I hope they realise they have the shows to attract them, but when you switch over and they are playing over on BB or Aust Idol (even when it's not a live show) it tends to put people off.  As for 9 maybe if you played some Original episodes some more people might watch.

And finally, I am still not sure why 9 does win.  After briefly looking at the ratings thread it seems that they only have 3 or 4 (slight exageration to try and make a point) in top twenty so do they exclude their worst areas??

NINE traditionally do well sunday nights and if the win is big enough it sets up a win for the week.

And I agree now that ten are going for a broader audience they could possibly challenge in the future. They will need to start programming with the 55+ in mind if they are going to challenge 7/9 though.

Different strokes for different folks I guess, but I find I have hardly watched nine at all this year.

Most of the shows I enjoy are either on 7 or 10, with a bit of ABC and SBS.

The fact that nine may win the "ratings" only reinforces my total distrust of the whole ratings system!

7 have certainly had some of the big (US) shows.

To me 9 just seems very old and tired and lacking direction. I remember some time ago I posted an article in the 9/Eddie topic about how they are going to rely on the Ashes this year for ratings!

I mostly watch 9/10 as they have the best shows. 7 have some shows that I watch regularly like Criminal Minds & Crossing Jordan but not that many.

And then next year SBS has the rights for the Ashes again.
