To all my favourite eBlah'ers,
Have I got a doosie for you today! Here's an EXCLUSIVE first look at Ten's new Friday Night Games, a spin-off from the popular Big Brother edition in 2005.
Here's the rules of the show, plus some background info. I have also attached some promotional piccies!
FRIDAY NIGHT GAMES Channel Ten 7.30 Fridays, February 2006
About FNG
Hosted by Mike Goldman with Bree Amer and Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald, Friday Night Games (FNG) is set to deliver some good old fashioned family fun directly to your lounge room.
Every Friday night, six celebrities and two members of the LIVE audience will be put through a series of hilarious challenges to test their skill, bravery and determination and ultimately decide the FNG Champion Team.
The teams pitted against each other will have natural rivalries – Big Brother Housemates will clash with Australian Idols, Blondes get a chance to clear their name against Brunettes and Aussie Rules battle it out with the big men of the NRL – to name but a few.
Every show has been given a comical theme that will see our celebrities dressed as swaggering pirates, giant babies and enormous sausages and will include: the quick draws of the “Wild Wild West night”; high steaks at the “Aussie BBQ night”; contestants reaching boiling point on the “Safari night”; some “rrrrrrrr” rated fun on “Pirates night”; and, of course, all the glitz and ‘clamour’ of a “Red Carpet night”.
The real fun in FNG is the games taking the word ‘challenge’ to a whole new level. Teams will be rolled, tossed, bounced, flipped and flopped across a spanking new arena cheered on by a live audience of over 300. Some of the games will be tests of skill, some tests of guts and determination . . . and yes, there will be slime!
The Rules
Every Friday night at 7.30pm there will be two (2) celebrity teams of three members plus one (1) audience member who will go head-to-head and test their competitiveness, determination, resilience, inventiveness and agility against FNG’s series of engaging games and challenges;
The ultimate FNG Champion Team will win a $50,000 donation to the charity of their choice;
Each episode will be recorded in front of a live audience (one show per evening) and is set in our specially built covered games arena at Dreamworld, allowing the live audience to join in the fun;
Each game comprises a different set of rules plus difficulty rating. There will also be props and wardrobe to contend with!
A “state of the art” new FNG arena has been constructed adjacent to the Big Brother house located at Dreamworld, Gold Coast and incorporates:
• Stadium seating for a live audience of 300 and a 25m x 16m games area. • A crew of 25 has built the 22-ton steel waterproofed custom made 10m stadium roof; • A new swimming pool has been constructed as part of the FNG arena set; • Circus quality rigging / lighting and flying rigs have been installed; • 2000 cubic metres of soil was removed during construction over the Christmas period to accommodate a new production unit.
Hope you all remember to tune in! Here's a first look at the promo's:

Thanks for that Smurf!
I am happy and not surprised that they are doing this show, since the BB edition of the games was popular - even among people who were not fans of BB. I will never forget the housemates wearing the gigantic penguin suits slip sliding around a snowy obstacle course! I laughed so hard at that.
And it reminded people of that show that was on years and years ago.. was it called 'its a knockout'?? People wearing oversized wooden heads paddling row boats with holes in them. |

Yet another thing from channel 10 that lets some people play and forgets completely about those in other states. |

I give it three weeks at best, as for celebrities getting old BB and Idol rejects didn't help 'celebrity ready steady cook' |

The name is uncreative, the hosts make me cringe, and the production costs of the show are obviously minimal considering that they're recycling the bloody show. Not happy. I'd rather watch Futurama or ANYTHING else on a Friday night. |

I can't believe crap like 'Stooged' even made it to TV. And what absolutely bewilders me is that Australia's Unfunniest Home Videos is still on TV (and consistently rating well). If there was a show which showcased homemade short films which actually demonstrated creativity and depth, I might actually watch that sort of show, but watching people tripping over puddles and falling into oversized wedding cakes is not my idea of entertainment. |

You actually say that Big Brother contestants are celebrities? Australian Idol winners maybe, but not the talentless Big Brother contestants! Didn't last years version of this show die in the ratings? I think this show is a last grasp idea for Channel 10 to fill in some airtime and I find the three so called 'hosts' of the show boring. |

I don't consider anyone participating in a reality tv style show to be a celebrity. I hardly class most Australian celebreties as celebreties! I think this show will bomb big time. |

To use something I saw on Letterman last night: (Dancing with the Stars + Celebrity Big Brother + Celebrity Circus + Skating on Thin Ice + Friday Night Games) MINUS "Celebritiies" EQUALS (Dancing with the Stars + Celebrity Big Brother + Celebrity Circus + Skating on Thin Ice + Friday Night Games) |

Have to agree with the comments on page 2. The BB version had some interest as the housemates were competing for something they really wanted- this is just an excuse to give exposure to ppl ch 10 want to push as celebs. It should be called who wants to be a celeb b/c they never managed to get any actual ones on these shows- am sure we won't be seeing heath ledger, kylie or nicole kidman participating. Though I have noticed that ch 7 will have it's first actual celeb on dancing with the stars- i think jennifer hawkins qualifies!! still won't get me to watch it though.... & i would rather watch paint dry that friday night fake celeb games!!! |

what a load of boring, insipid, inane drivel this show is; I'd rather sit through 100 episodes of The Simpsons than the ten minutes I have just seen of this rubbish! Oh, I totally loathe The Simpsons by the way. |

Firstly, I don't believe anyone can not like The Simpsons, that's just not normal. Secondly, Friday Night Games SUCKED! It was so freakin boring, but i only watched the first 20 minutes. I really didn't like it, it was very bad. Might get better when actual housemates are on it, but i doubt it. |

The secret to the success of FNG is that housemates used to have it as a weekly highlight. . and it traversed the daytime house antics of BB. . without the BB show. . it is doomed to mediocrity. |

Big Brother was the reason FNG was a success, I mean the voice.
This is so boring. I'm watching it now. The fact that it's not live just makes it more boring. They're just rolling around in barbeque sauce, the audience is silent. Mike occasionally pops up with a comment, it's more boring than cricket. |

It was a STUPID show with not point at all... It only works on Big Brother, as a normal weekly show i think its pretty silly...there were a few funny bits (Vesna's funny as) but still not worth a sopt on television apart from Big Brother |

Firstly, I am perfectly normal and so are my choices in TV viewing. Secondly, I can't believe anyone can like The Simpsons, the show is total drivel, almost as bad as FNG and as boring a show as BB. |

Hey, I'm not dissing Futurama. I LUUURVE Futurama. I just meant that I'd rather have Ten keep that on at Fridays, otherwise I don't find myself watching any TV at all. And as for The Simpsons, the latter episodes are certainly drivel, but I don't think anybody can not like the golden era of The Simpsons. |
