Live and Exclusive to Foxsports (Foxtel/Austar). If Australia plays outside of the country, then Foxsports has the exclusive rights to all matches(even though SBS showed the ashes, foxsports also screened them as well). So unless you have pay-tv, the only thing you will see of the matches(3 of them in the hadlee/border trophy), will be news highlights. |

Yet another sport cuts its own throat. My 2 boys (9 and 7) will never be big cricket fans - no hero's on the TV for them! |

Cricket today is dull, none of that fire in the belly stuff of the eighties, and there is too much of it. It should now be called McCricket because of it fast food approach to get TV ratings - and beach cricket ...how boring is that

Yes! . . Yes! . .Yes! . . too much cricket now and the players are paying the price. Injuries galore are the result of only a day or two off betwen games. I am not much of a follower of Test Cricket . .long and boring mostly. But . .one day gets me watching . . and I'm not a sport fan. (as testified to here by my posts *or lack of* in this sport topic) |

I love a good one day cricket match, but seriously we could have done without the Hadlee-Chappell series. |

I think cricket will eventually fade in time. Modern society wants the quick fix. Sitting around all day for the result of a game is beyond most people's endurance.
They should take their lead from the V8 supercars - have shorter games on a regular basis and only have a full day game as a final. |

Never...............Cricket always has been, and always will be enjoyed by the masses, me included. You only have to see the sellout crowds from the last test series to prove this. plus in cricket you get the best of all worlds, there are 5 day games, 3 day games, 50 over matches and now 20/20. Of course, you have to like cricket in the first place. As for sitting around waiting for the result, thats rubbish, most go because they enjoy watching the game itself, if your team wins, thats a bonus. |

Australia’s population has doubled in the past 40 years and per capita attendances are decreasing. 40 years ago you’d get packed grounds at the domestic games but now it is a lonely sit on a weekend at the cricket. Cricket had its heyday when people worked 5 days a week, had the weekend off, and there was no Sunday trading. |

That's when cricket was exciting, when we played the Windies in the eighties, when Australia had to fight hard for every run and wicket. It was a struggle for Australia and every ball was important. |

This is very sad news...................... Left-arm spinner dies at 22 Bangladesh's Manjural Islam killed in road accident Cricinfo staff March 16, 2007 Manjural Islam, who played six Tests and 25 ODIs for Bangladesh between 2003-04 and 2005-06, has been killed in a road accident. He was 22 and, as such, he has become the youngest Test cricketer to die. Reports say that he was on a motorbike in Khulna when he lost his balance and collided with an oncoming bus. Sajjadul Hasan, a local first-class cricketer, also died on his way to hospital. Both players had finished playing a match in Fatullah the previous day, where Manjural took four wickets. A left-arm spinner, Manjural made his ODI debut in November 2003 at the age of 19 and took the wicket of Michael Vaughan with his third ball, the first time any Bangladesh player had taken a wicket in his first international over. He made his Test debut at Harare in 2003-04 but did not impress and had been sidelined since the series against India in December 2004. His best performances in the one-day format were a brace of four-wicket hauls, both Man-of-the-Match winning performances, to help level the series against Zimbabwe in January 2005. Habibul Bashar, the Bangladeshi captain, said his World Cup was squad was in shock after waking upto the awful news. "It's shocking news for all of us, he was a friend and a team-mate. The boys are very upset." © Cricinfo http://content-aus.cricinfo.com/bangladesh/content/current/story/285546.html |

Yep and yesterday it didn't just rain in Qld's south and Brisbane's southern suburbs, it flooded, badly. This time of year is so unpredictable in Qld for sport or any outdoor activity. |

I think this will be right spot.
A BIG thumbs up to SBS for HD Ashes. The replays are now tolerable you can actually see the ball. Presenters just need a bit more polish. |

I hate to be picky but it seems that who ever is covering the Ashes for SBS seem to miss catches. Just as they pan right/left following the ball they lose it and the next thing is the guys throwing up in the air to celebrate.
Nothing close (decision wise) but if it was there would be nothing for viewer to see. |

Well done Ricky, yet another milestone. Perhaps Valvoline (however you spell it) will help you out on next test.
It appears we are blaming the umps now. I didn't really see any of them holding back the batsmen from running or hitting the ball or even blocking the bowlers.
The ONLY excuse feasible is that England have a double-sided coin. Anything other than that YOU are the captain, act like one. |

Hmm, yet ANOTHER record for Ricky. I don't understand everyone's defence. Is there a series we have won AWAY from home during his captaincy. Have they forgotten the previous test before the 5th.
IMHO Ricky did well while he had great players to back him up. Now he needs to act like a Captain, get the BEST out of what he has AND STOP ENDORSING THE BUGGER OUT OF EVERYTHING until he wins back the Ashes. |

I am afraid (not really) that Ponting wont be around to contest the next Ashes series, he will stay for the end of this tour, then I think a change will be made. I agree on the point he did better with the likes of Gilchrist, Warne and McGrath to back him up, anyone would have done well with that team... I think we have a good 4 years or more of rebuilding from now on till we can expect to regain that No 1 spot in the rankings. |

Ponting has his flaws just like every other captain before him but I think he is currently the best man for the job. I think we've just all been spoiled with the last generation of players and Steve Waugh was lucky enough to take the helm back then. I'd rather Ponting contniue then have that pompous little twerp Michael Clarke step up... god knows what the selectors saw in him |

I agree that we don't seem to have another option but he really needs to step up a gear if he's to remain Captain. Blaming Umps/field/different way the water flushes just doesn't cut it. We cannot hang on to claim to be No.1 when we can only win at home (and now that's 50/50 against decent opposition). |

So Mr Ponting believes he has shown critics by winning a HOME game from behind where the Pakistani Keeper dropped more than most players took.
Perhaps The now Captain can take the wicket keeper on his overseas tours. |

Glen McGrath to marry new love Sara Leonardi By Ellie Halliwell From: Sunday Herald Sun July 25, 2010 12:00AM
SHE'S mended his broken heart and helped him recover from the grief of losing his wife and now she will be by his side forever. Aussie cricketing great Glenn McGrath is engaged to his girlfriend of seven months, Sara Leonardi, 28. The 40-year-old cricketer presented his Italian girlfriend with a beautiful diamond engagement ring last week. "I can confirm that they're engaged, but that's about as much information as I can give you," McGrath's manager Warren Craig told the Sunday Herald Sun. "They got engaged about a week ago. "Glenn and Sara haven't spoken to any (magazines); there's been no story told or anything like that and they're not planning on speaking to anybody about the engagement." Ms Leonardi didn't hide her engagement ring, which was sparkling on her wedding ring finger, as she walked with McGrath and his two children, James, 10, and Holly, 8, to a cafe near their Sydney home yesterday. The family enjoyed lunch before visiting a bike shop in Cronulla. The couple have enjoyed a whirlwind romance since announcing their relationship in January. Ms Leonardi, an interior designer, met the former Australian cricketer at a party in Cape Town in April 2009, sparking a friendship, which blossomed into love later in the year. McGrath, still raw from the death of his wife, Jane, in June 2008, said he hadn't believed he'd fall in love again. But Ms Leonardi changed all that. "After Jane passed away, I never thought that I could love another woman," McGrath said when his relationship with Sara became public. "I was adamant about that. But I am in love with Sara, totally and completely and absolutely." Since early in their relationship, McGrath had thought of Ms Leonardi as his future wife. "I think marriage is definitely in our future," he said in an interview in February. "I see Sara as my partner for the rest of my life ... I can't picture life without her." The sports star was in South Africa while contracted to the Indian Premier League team, the Delhi Daredevils, when he met Ms Leonardi. McGrath said their introduction was destiny. "We were only there for a couple of nights and my teammate Paul Collingwood, the English one-day captain, knew a guy there who asked us to his house for drinks," he said. "As it turned out, his girlfriend is a friend of Sara's and he asked her and a few girlfriends around for drinks, too. It was one of those situations where we weren't supposed to cross paths, but somehow we did." It's been a bittersweet few weeks for the family, who marked the two-year anniversary of Jane's death last month. Jane, who wed McGrath in 1999 and had two children to him, died on June 22, 2008, following a lengthy battle with breast cancer. Ms Leonardi and McGrath have been regulars on the social scene since their first public appearance together in April at Royal Randwick's Doncaster Day in Sydney. The couple were rumoured to have received about $200,000 this year after announcing their relationship in a magazine. However, this time, his management says McGrath is keeping the details private. No date has been set for the wedding, but insiders predict a short engagement. Read more: http://www.news.com.au/enterta.....537246#ixzz0uegJrbFl
